Chapter 560: A Great Enemy Invades

Upon closer observation, this greyish cloud seemed to be shaped like a massive hand, crushing down menacingly from the horizon.

This abnormal phenomenon triggered a commotion immediately.

After all, Heavenly Spiral City was United Continent’s greatest city, and it was filled with prominent experts. Those people were quick to react to this phenomenon.

Some experts had gotten closer on their flying beasts to investigate but none returned. With this, everyone realized that this ominous cloud was not something they could afford to provoke.

Despite this, most people weren’t scared.

This was Heavenly Spiral City after all.

Feng Junwu was immediately informed of this occurrence. He came outside and looked up at the sky with a grave expression on his face.

“Investigate it at once.”

As the emperor, Feng Junwu only needed to issue one command before Rank 4 flying beasts immediately took to the skies.

Just then, the massive hand stopped and a voice boomed down, resonating throughout Heavenly Spiral City.

“Greetings! We are Daojun’s disciples Corpse Taoist and Ghost Taoist. We have come here today for revenge so those who are unrelated, please step down. Lin Jin, Curator, both of you come out and accept your death!”

This furious voice came striking down like a bolt of thunder, echoing throughout the city. Many people felt their ears buzz and their beasts were similarly intimidated by an invisible force. They crouched down on the ground in submission.

This alone, proved how strong the enemy was.

Weaklings would never even imagine coming to Heavenly Spiral Kingdom for trouble.

Fortunately, Corpse Taoist and Ghost Taoist sounded like they wouldn’t do anything to Heavenly Spiral Kingdom. Even so, they presented an existential threat.

Many have heard of Daojun’s disciples, the Six Beast Taoists.

“Preposterous!” Feng Junwu immediately flared up in anger at this declaration. No matter who they were and whether or not they were here to fight Heavenly Spiral Kingdom, to cross into their territory without prior warning was unacceptable.

What would be left of Heavenly Spiral’s dignity?

Then, another message came down from the sky, “We’re only here to settle a personal grudge. If we have startled Heavenly Spiral Kingdom, allow us to apologize in advance. Both of us will pay a personal visit after this and offer heavy compensation for our intrusion.”

As the voice spoke, the silhouette of a huge beast appeared among the dark clouds. In an instant, the trees in Heavenly Spiral City withered away and the wells dried up as if a great drought had hit the nation.

“That’s a drought zombie!”

The little officer’s expression went dark as he stood beside Feng Junwu.

While Corpse Taoist and Ghost Taoist were apologizing, they were also conducting a show of force. It was a warning against anyone else who might be thinking of interfering with their business.

It was now up to Feng Junwu to make a decision.

He was the Emperor of Heavenly Spiral Kingdom, so only his word mattered now.

Feng Junwu hesitated.

The enemy was no small fry, and judging by that earlier display, they must have more than one Rank 5 pet beast on their side. Should Heavenly Spiral Kingdom get involved in this mess?

Just then, a colorful light shot toward the sky from the direction of Heavenly Spiral Academy.

Not just one.

More than ten rays of light had shot up.

They were the academy lecturers, the Rank 4 beast appraisers.

Leading their formation was none other than Shu Xiaolou.

Others may fear zombies, but she saw them as great enemies. It didn’t matter who these people were, whoever that dared to cause at her turf, would have to face her wrath, even if they were merely trying to get back at Lin Jin.

Viewing from afar, Feng Junwu was momentarily stunned before instructing the people beside him, “Convey my orders. A great enemy has come to threaten our land. Heavenly Spiral will engage the enemy at full force.”

That was a must.

Their strongest organization, Heavenly Spiral Academy, had engaged the enemy so he couldn’t possibly stand by and do nothing.

Following His Majesty’s orders, more than a dozen silhouettes flew up from around the city. These were all generals of Heavenly Spiral City who were tasked with protecting their home. Boasting unusual prowess, either one of these individuals could easily wipe out an intermediate country by themselves.

Just then, a firebird came flying over from the horizon.

The next instant, a woman jumped off this firebird, and with a sweep of her arm, a phoenix soared into the sky.

“That’s … someone from Phoenix Palace!” said an informed individual immediately after recognizing the newcomer.

Phoenix Palace!

That was a huge organization too. They were known to be South Continent’s greatest force, and they were considered to be on par with premium countries of that continent.

Their status was just as prominent as Grassy Continent’s Daluo Temple.

That individual from Phoenix Palace seemed to be looking for someone. When she found her acquaintance, she went over to stand with Heavenly Spiral Academy’s army to fight against the enemy.

“Phoenix Palace has arrived to battle the enemy!”

Everyone internally gasped.

Feng Junwu was silently surprised. After all, even he couldn’t afford to invite anyone from Phoenix Palace.

Suddenly, someone behind him exclaimed, “Zhao Jingyan! Wh-why is she here?”

Feng Junwu turned to see his third son talking.

“Ziqian, come here.”

Feng Junwu could tell something was off so he quickly instructed his son to come forth. After questioning him, Feng Junwu soon learned that his son was acquainted with Zhao Jingyan. The emperor suddenly recalled the fact that Phoenix Palace’s Great Commander had the exact same name.

“That’s the Great Commander of Phoenix Palace?” asked Feng Junwun while staring at Feng Ziqian.

The latter nodded.

“Are you two very well acquainted?” Feng Junwu asked again.

Feng Ziqian nodded. “Very well acquainted!”

“How did you two know each other?” That was Feng Junwu’s biggest question. However, Feng Ziqian did not dare to answer his father recklessly, so he remained silent. When his father kept pressing him for an answer, he pushed the query to Curator.

“Father, I don’t actually understand it myself too because it’s a supernatural power performed by Curator. Why don’t you ask him instead?”

Upon hearing this, a realization hit Feng Junwu.

So Phoenix Palace’s Zhao Jingyan had come all this way to help just because of Curator.

Indeed, Curator was a mighty individual.

Just then, Lin Jin emerged from the great hall.

The commotion outside was so loud that no matter how engrossed he was, he could hear it too. What’s more, Lin Jin had finally finished reading Daojun’s Hieroglyphic.

He was merely lost in thought before he realized the commotion outside.

Bearing Curator’s outfit, Lin Jin looked up at the colossal hand-shaped cloud that was suspended in the sky. He mumbled to himself, “They really came. Looks like that zombie from before was quite important to them. Otherwise, they wouldn’t be this enraged.”

The next instant, clouds gathered below Lin Jin’s feet and he made his way across the sky.

At the sight of Curator, Zhao Jingyan was most delighted. She quickly flew over to salute Curator. “Looks like I made it just in time for the battle. I’ve been traveling without rest for one day and one night.”

She had indeed made an exhausting journey here. Lin Jin saluted her immediately and said, “Thank you for your hard work!”

Zhao Jingyan nodded and then positioned herself behind Curator.

Shang’er was here too, together with Shu Xiaolou and the academy’s lecturers.

With a confused expression on her face, Shu Xiaolou studied ‘Curator’. Lin Jin dared not look at her in case Shu Xiaolou noticed anything.

He looked up instead and roared at the cloud made of death aura, “Yan Yunxi, the nerve of you!”

His voice was daunting.

Everyone else was stunned, confused as to who this Yan Yunxi person was.

Above the death cloud, Corpse Taoist wore a frightened expression. Even though he was a zombie, his face still managed to contort out of fear.

“Ho- … how does he know my name?” Corpse Taoist suddenly felt chills down his spine.
