“Uncle, I want to eat ice cream.” Olive Steele wouldn’t let her eat ice cream until summer, so, she could
only ask her uncle.
Alan Hoyle picked up his daughter and said, “Fine, I’ll buy you ice cream. However, you’re only allowed
to eat a little, okay? If you eat too much you will have a stomachache and Mommy will be sad.”
“Well, I’ll have strawberry and chocolate.” Annie reluctantly agreed. A small portion ice cream was
better than nothing at all.
Olive Steele looked at them two. She felt funny. When they were about to leave, she saw a
headmistress took the female teacher from the other day.
“Mr. Hoyle. Mr. Hoyle.”
The kindergarten was originally established by the headmistress and the female teacher was just
taking advantage of the fact that the kindergarten was owned by her aunt. Now, with a flip of a hand,
Alan Hoyle transferred the ownership of the kindergarten. It happened that the kindergarten was now
owned by a little girl she once looked down upon.
A five years old girl became her boss. What sorcery was that? But, at this time, she could only stand
with her head lowered so that her aunt could speak on her behalf and let her end the contract with the
school early.
These past two days, Aniet Steele and her friends wouldn’t stop teasing her. If she stayed, she might
go mad. How come she never know that Aniet Steele was a little demon before? She thought that she
was only a timid, bully-able little girl. Now that her mighty father returned, she became a little demon.
The female teacher didn’t know that Aniet Steele had never made any trouble before, not because she
was afraid. It was because Olive Steele was busy working, her grandparents were in a poor health, and
she didn’t want make trouble and worry them.
Aniet Steele was actually very sensible.
Alan Hoyle glanced at the two ladies faintly, “Headmistress Yang, what’s the matter?”
Headmistress Yang was embarrassed. She was an educator, but she failed to educate her own niece.
There was no time that she felt more embarrassed than now, “Mr. Hoyle, my niece, Yang Mei, is young
and foolish. Our family has failed to educate her and she had offended the little princess. I hope you’re
willing to spare her…”
“Offending my daughter is not a big problem, but I have problem with her teaching a group of students
badly…” Alan Hoyle said sternly, “Headmistress Yang, you’re an educator. You know the consequences
here.”
Yang Mei shuddered. She lowered her head even more. She was afraid to look at him in the eye.
Headmistress Yang smiled, “Indeed, Mr. Hoyle. I think that she’s not suitable for staying in the
kindergarten and teaching children, so—”
Alan Hoyle interrupted her coldly, “I think my assistant made it very clear a few days ago. Miss Yang
can resign, but I can’t guarantee that she can find a new job after leaving this school.’
Olive Steele was ashamed. Was he threatening her? Although Annie was wronged, he didn’t need to
embarrass the young lady.
Yang Mei was about to cry, “Mr. Hoyle, I was wrong. I will never do such thing again in the future.
Please, let me go.”
“Good. You shall change what is wrong.” said Alan Hoyle. He started walking toward the car with his
daughter in his arms.
Olive Steele smiled apologetically at Headmistress Yang and the female teacher. She quickly followed
Alan Hoyle. He and Annie sat in the co-pilot seat. She had to be the driver.
“You bought her kindergarten. Why can’t you get along with the female teacher?”
“She bullied our little princess.”
Olive Steele gave him a look. This man was getting older and started acting like a child.
Annie climbed on Alan Hoyle’s leg, “She didn’t just bully me. She became a licker for those who had
money and bullied those who didn’t. She also instructed the students to tell their parents to send her
gifts. If they gave more, she would be very happy. If they gave less, she would look down and if they
didn’t gave her anything, she would be furious.”
It’s not that Olive Steele didn’t know about giving gifts. The office had become a place where mother
got together. They would talk about husband, children, in-laws, and sometimes, about children’s
education expenses including the giving the teachers gifts.
On Teacher Day’s last year, she bought a bouquet of flower for Annie’s teacher and sent her a voucher.
It was not much, only a few hundred. It was not a bribe, only a kind courtesy during a festival. Annie’s
teacher took the flower but she returned the card. A very honest teacher was very rare in this modern
society.
