A head came out from a group of men wearing camouflage uniform. He raised up his horn speaker and
cleared his throat, making the crowd instantly went quiet.
The man in camouflage uniform said, “I know you have a lot of questions, but I’m sorry that I can’t
answer any of you. I can only tell you that for some reason, we must ask you to cooperate for 24 hours.
In 24 hours, everyone can’t leave the designated area. Of course, we’ll be responsible for food and
housing. However, you can’t get in touch with the outside world. Here, all mobile phones and wireless
signals are blocked.”
Someone heard e meaning and stepped forward to ask, “Are you trying to put us under house arrest?”
“Not a house arrest, I’m just asking everyone to cooperate for a day.” Although the man in uniform
looked cold, he had good temper.
That man looked a little annoyed, “What is this if it’s not house arrest? Do you think we’ll cooperate just
because you say so? We still have work to do and have to transfer to another city for business trip.
What do you think?”
The camouflaged man said, “All your losses will be responsible by us. We can do it for you if you need
to explain to your boss, wife, girlfriend, and even lover.”
The woman in white felt that although these people were mysterious and she didn’t know whether they
were evil, they were polite and didn’t look like wicked people. For some reason, she was willing to
believe them and couldn’t help but stepped forward to ask, “Excuse me, are you sure for only 24
hours? Then could we leave here safely?”
“Of course,” the camouflaged man said affirmatively.
But Drew didn’t believe, “Bullshit. They’re just the same with those people who’ll do anything to achieve
goal. This is called illegal detention. Everyone, don’t believe him.”
The woman in white reminded him, “Don’t forget that it was them who saved us on the plane just now.
If it wasn’t for their men, we won’t still be alive.”
Most people agreed.
But Drew said, “Tiana, don’t forget. If it wasn’t for that Hoyle and Bai, we wouldn’t be in that
undeserved bad luck. They just save themselves.”
These words also made many people nod their heads silently, which made Drew more confident.
“So, our losses should have been their responsibility. Now they even want to illegally put us under
house arrest for one day. Is there justice?”
The camouflaged man wasn’t upset too and simply said, “Sir, just say it directly. How should we
compensate to satisfy you?”
Drew stroked his blood-stained arm and sneered, “How? Pay us our absent wage, medical expenses,
and mental distress compensation—you can’t leave out one of them.”
The camouflaged man also smiled, but his smile couldn’t erase the paint on his face. “Then, sir, how
much do you think we should pay?”
Drew slightly groaned, pretending to be thinking, “Because of you guys, I can’t sign a contract that I
finally won anymore. What’s to be done? You guys need to pay me one million eight hundred
thousand.”
The woman in white reached out to pull the hem of his clothes. She whispered, “You’re mad.”
One million eight hundred thousand. They weren’t opening a bank. They even still thought about not
letting the criminals hurt the passengers when they were in a crisis. They were already pretty loyal.
From behind them, a bodyguard walked out and shot Drew a cold gaze, “Mr. Martin, you’re just a small
owner of a small factory with a dozen people. Your annual income is only four to five million. The
reason you’re on the plane is because you’re travelling with your girlfriend. You want to profit from this
misfortune, yet you’re still not qualified.”
“How do you know?” Drew’s mouth opened in surprise.
The woman in white turned crimson, as if all eyes were on them.
She had actually recognized that it was the man who shielded her from the knife when the gangster
was attacking her. And at that time, her boyfriend, who said he would love her forever, hurriedly
avoided and even pushed her.
Human’s heart really couldn’t stand a test. At that moment, her heart was cold.
The bodyguard just gave a cold smile. He obviously wouldn’t tell this nasty man that he was sitting
behind him on the plane and had heard exactly what he bragged to his girlfriend about how he could
increase the number of employees in the small workshop which he inherited from his father to a
hundred within a year with an income exceeding 10 million. It was a pity that such beautiful and brave
woman would actually with such greedy and coward idiot.
The camouflaged man nodded to him, “Sir Liam.”
It turned out that his name was Liam. The woman in white secretly remembered it, but she didn’t
expect the man’s hand suddenly pointed at her and she was surprised.
Drew came out and stood in front of his girlfriend, “What do you want to do?”
The bodyguard chuckled icily, “You didn’t dare to come out when you should have, but you stand into
the spotlight when you shouldn’t have.”
The woman in white suddenly remembered a sentence from an author she liked: ‘What is
unnecessary? Padded jacket in summer, fan in winter, and the attention when my heart is already cold
for you.’
“What’s your name?” the bodyguard asked her.
“Tiana Campbell.” She stepped out from Drew’s behind. If something really happened, this man
couldn’t protect her.
One test for the human’s heart was enough. Trust collapsed with a loud crash. If she really hard to rely
on someone, she could only rely on herself.
“Ms. Campbell, your arm is injured. Please go with our men to treat the injury to prevent inflammation.”
The bodyguard gave a look and someone walked up to her instantly, politely saying, “This way, Ms.
Campbell.”
Tiana just realized that her arm was cut. Perhaps the high tension on the plane made her ignore the
pain in her body. The blood on her shirt was from other people’s blood in the chaotic fight. Now that she
realized in shock, the pain made her almost faint.
The bodyguard gave her support. Drew tried to pull them apart, but was stopped by a sharp look from
the bodyguard.
On the other side, the helicopter stirred up making a whirlwind and flew into the sky noisily.
Olive looked through the glass at the crowd below. She turned around and asked the two men, “Is it
okay to detain them there?”
“Don’t worry. The people below have their own measures.” Alan lightly glanced at the sky outside and
the dazzling dusk’s rosy clouds dragged out the color of golden yellow. When dawn came again, this
long old grudges would be over.
Kent crossed his legs and threw a fresh grape into his mouth. “Olive, I think you’re too compassionate.
You really don’t have to sympathize them. These people, except for two or three people who showed a
little courageous, the rest are spineless cowards, even selfish. I’ve shown mercy for keeping them for
only one day.”
Although Olive didn’t know how dangerous the fighting was, she saw the tragedy after the fight and
couldn’t help but sighed.
“In that situation, it’s probably a human instinct to seek self-preservation. They aren’t like you guys who
have seen much of the world. It’s inevitable to panic.”
When Alan saw her sometimes rubbing her forehead, he frowned a little, “What’s the matter? Do you
feel unwell?”
“I’m okay, just a little dizzy. It’s probably because the drug hasn’t gone away. I’ll be fine after a rest.”
Olive didn’t hide it from him too. She actually still felt afraid when she recalled the scene of her and
Annie were attacked.
Alan let her lie on his lap. But Annie showed a temperament surpassing her peers, looking a little
simple-minded, and she wasn’t scared. At this moment, she was sitting next to the newly-acquainted
kid and quarreling for some reason.
Annie said, “If it wasn’t for me to let my dad bring you, you would still be there just like those people.
So, you have to call me sister.”
Sean said, “If it wasn’t for me saving you, your body would be full of dynamites now and they’ll blow
you up to dust. Then how can you see your dad? So, call me brother.”
Annie rolled her eyes, “Dream on. Wanna act big? You aren’t much taller than me.”
Sean said, “Call me brother and I’ll protect you.”
“I don’t want your protection. I learn martial arts from Big Beard. I can protect myself.”
Sean sneered, “You say that but you let them drug you.”
“I…” Annie stammered and blushed, then strongly argued, “I was careless. Thought she was a good
person.”
Sean said in disdain, “You can’t even distinguished good person and bad person. It’s no wonder that
you were fooled.”
“You—do you think you’re so amazing?” Annie stretched out to poke him angrily.
Seeing a strong smell of gunpowder rising between the two kids, Ken beckoned at Sean, “Kid, come
here.”
“I’m not a kid,” Sean said unhappily.
Alan had been staring at the child. The more he looked at him, the more he found him familiar, as if he
had seen him somewhere not long ago. He could save his daughter in the face of danger and there
were two bodyguards behind him at any time. It seemed like he was no ordinary child.
“Who is Jacob Shen to you?”
“My father.”
So that was how it was. Alan understood.
Kent playfully teased this little boy who was born with a calf and wasn’t afraid of tigers. “It turns out you
have a good background. The Shen Family has never lacked of anything too. You saved our little
princess today. How do you want us to thank you?”
Most children might humbly say ‘no, thank you’. But Sean Shen was obviously different who had a
clear target.
“I want her.”
The adults looked at each other. Olive also inevitable raised her head to fix her gaze at the little boy.
Annie pointed at herself, obviously hadn’t fully reacted, “Me?”
Kent gloated over Alan’s misfortune and winked at him, “This is a disaster, Hoyle. Your baby is still so
young and someone has already come to steal her from you. Won’t it be worse when they grow up
later?”
In some aspects, even if Annie was beyond her peers’ intelligence, she was still a child. She asked in
confusion, “Why do you want me?”
Sean said, “To be my wife, of course.”
If this was an adult man’s proposal, at least there was still a little romantic atmosphere. But it happened
to be vomited from a child’s mouth, which made the scene completely weird.
