Blair was so determined and Wesley finally gave in. "All right."
"Good boy!" Blair reached out and patted the back of his hand.
Her gesture brought a smile to his lips. He felt so happy at that moment.
After dinner, they went to the shopping mall. Blair bought a new razor for him, and also got him some other necessities. The man was always generous to her, but mostly mean to himself. She also bought gifts for the others in the family. They didn't leave the mall until it was about to close down.
A few days passed. One day, Blair woke up and sat on the bed, feeling tired. She turned her head to check the time; it was almost noon. Rubbing her sleepy eyes, she got out of bed lazily.
While brushing her teeth, she suddenly remembered something extremely important. Her eyes widened in shock.
'When did my aunt Flo last pay me a visit? I can't even remember!'
Blair quickly got ready and rushed downstairs.
Wesley was just walking into the house with Gifford in his arms. Seeing his wife trotting towards him with a crazy expression on her face, he asked in a confused tone, "Babe, what happened?"
Blair stopped in her tracks and stared at him angrily. "I am going to strangle you to death, Wesley Li!" she said through gritted teeth.
"Why? What's wrong?" he asked, more puzzled now.
"How dare you ask me why!" 'I must be pregnant! No wonder I sleep early and get up late. Yet, I still feel drowsy day in and day out.' She rushed towards the door without further explanation.
She had to get herself checked.
Wesley asked the nanny to take care of Gifford and followed after Blair, who was heading to the garage.
He caught up to her and grabbed hold of her wrist. "Where are you going?" 'She is being weird today, ' he thought.
"To the hospital," Blair answered, looking him in the eye.
Wesley sized her up and asked, "What's wrong? Are you hurt anywhere? I'll go with you."
"I'm not feeling well in the belly."
"Does it ache? Since when?" he asked, worried. Wesley thought that she had an upset stomach, and walked towards the garage faster than her.
"Well, since two months ago. I hadn't paid much attention to it till now."
When they arrived at the military hospital, Wesley took her to the gastroenterology department, but Blair stopped him. "Let's go to the gynecology department," she said.
"All right."
Despite the confusion, Wesley called a doctor in the gynecology department. Blair asked him to wait outside the doctor's office. "What if I really have cancer this time?" she asked.
Wesley kissed her red lips. He didn't let her go until a few people walked past them and entered the office. "If you talk nonsense like that again, I'll teach you a good lesson when we get back home," he threatened.
"Let's just suppose that I have cancer," she said.
"Just shut up!"
"It's just an assumption," Blair teased him.
"I don't want to hear any such assumptions. I won't allow you to have cancer." He didn't want to live in a world without her.
Blair laughed. 'He is so bossy.' She gave him a smile and said, "Just wait for me here."
He took her hand. "Let me come with you." He was very worried about her now. He was afraid that she was ill again.
"No, I'm good. There are so many women inside. They will feel uncomfortable if you come in." Blair patted his hand and entered the office.
Before long, she came out with a piece of paper in her hand.
Wesley tried to look what was on it, but Blair kept it from him.
"It's just the bill for the ultrasonic diagnosis. Let's go pay for it." After paying for the procedure, Blair entered the B ultrasonic room alone.
Wesley had butterflies in his stomach. He waited outside the room, wondering what illness Blair might have.
Soon, she came out with the results of the ultrasonic. "Let's go back to the doctor," she said and walked towards the doctor's office, holding his hand.
Wesley again wanted to look at the results, but Blair refused to let him see. He was both anxious and angry, but he couldn't vent his anger at that moment.
Another ten minutes later, she walked out of the doctor's room.
She stood before Wesley, her face sullen. His heart was in his throat.
"Wesley..." she called, her voice hoarse.
Wesley held her hands and coaxed her, "It's okay, honey."
"I... I'm so afraid..."
"Afraid of what?" Wesley was so anxious that he wanted to ask the doctor what was going on.
Blair took him to the empty corridor and looked him in the eye.
"You should be mentally prepared for this. I'm going to live a miserable life now," she said in a grave tone.
Wesley's heart sank. "Don't be silly! I'll take you to a different hospital for another examination. This doctor must be a quack."
Blair stopped him and said hurriedly, "Don't. This is the military hospital. And it was you who recommended this doctor. Do you not believe in her?"
He then realized that he was the one who had arranged for her to see this doctor. He took his phone out and was about to make a call.
"What are you doing?" Blair asked.
"Call her, and tell her that she is an idiot!" Blair was in good health after taking the Chinese herbs. Yet, she was now telling him that she was going to live a miserable life. How could he digest this news?
"No!" Blair grabbed his hand. Seeing that he was really going to call the doctor, she had to stop pretending. "I'm pregnant!"
"Don't talk nonsense! I don't want to hear anything that she said."
"You mean the baby in my belly is not yours?" Blair's voice was as cold as ice.
The madman regained his sanity when he heard her cold tone. Wesley was shocked to hear her words. "What did you just say?"
His state of mind was in a mess, and he thought that he was hearing things.
'Did she say that she was pregnant?'
"Are you saying that the baby in my belly is not yours?" she repeated.
Wesley froze for a moment and then was thrilled beyond words. He flashed an ear-to-ear grin. "Say that again," he said.
"I'm pregnant," she said once again with a soft smile.
Wesley put his phone back into his pocket, closed his eyes and held Blair's shoulders, his hands shaking. "You… You said you were going to live a miserable life..." His voice trembled.
'Oh! Now I get it!
Way to go, fooling me like that!' Wesley realized how merciless his wife was.
"Yeah. Now that I'm pregnant, I have to say goodbye to a lot of delicious food. And I can't hang around on my own. Isn't my life going to be miserable? Mmmph!" Amidst her rant, however, Wesley leaned closer and kissed her fiercely.
After a long time, he finally let go of her. Looking at the woman in his arms, he said in a soft voice, "When you were pregnant with Gifford, I couldn't be by your side. This time, I will keep you company every single day. I won't leave you alone ever again."
Blair nodded vigorously. She thought that she was going to suffocate because of the heated kiss.
During her pregnancy, Wesley kept his word. He stayed by her side almost every day, unless he had some really urgent business to deal with.
