Terilynn shoved the dumbfounded female author sitting opposite the man and said, "Scoot over. I need to sit down and make this clear for him today!"
In a hurry, the author made room for her. Sitting down next to the woman, Terilynn told the man, "Intellectual property rights were issued in order to protect the copyrights of authors of literary, artistic and scientific works, as well as the rights and interests related to their copyrights. Without the consent of the owner, whoever copies their works, including their words, music, movies, television and other works, shall be detained or imprisoned. Under severe circumstances, the offender shall be sentenced to up to three years of imprisonment. Besides that, copyright includes the author's right to release their works. Do you understand what I am saying?"
Ignoring the guilty look on the man's face, Terilynn turned to the author. "He has made a mistake, but doesn't even regret it. You should ask the legal department of your company to send him a warning letter. If he still doesn't take it seriously, you should just go ahead and sue him."
The author nodded awkwardly. "I see, okay."
At this moment, Terilynn's phone rang. Taking a deep breath, she adjusted her mood and took out her phone. Seeing the caller ID, she immediately stood up to answer the call. Before leaving, she told the author, "Just do as I said. You have to protect your rights and interests."
"I will, thank you very much!"
Terilynn walked out of the booth and answered the phone call. Her tone was nothing like it was a moment ago. "Hi, Tayson. Ah, I'm already here. I'm on the first floor. I'll be right there!"
After hanging up, she rushed to the second floor of the bar.
When she walked into the booth, Tayson was already there. He frowned and asked, "Why are we here?"
Heaving a sigh, Terilynn answered with a warm smile, "I just want to buy you a drink."
Tayson shook his head. "Miss—"
"I have told you so many times. You are not allowed to call me 'Miss Huo' when we are alone. Just call me Terilynn. What would you like to drink tonight?" She grabbed the wine list.
Tayson stopped her from opening the menu. "If you want to drink, you can drink at home. It's not safe here."
She chuckled, "I'm safe; you're here. You protect my sister. Are you saying you can't protect me?"
Tayson let go of the menu and asked, "What do you need me for, Miss Huo?"
"I need you to drink with me, Tayson." It was her first time meeting him in a bar. She was pretty nervous.
Tayson knew what she wanted with him. He looked at her and answered without any hesitation, "I'll be leaving Y City in two years. I won't be coming back."
'Won't be coming back...' Terilynn's heart twitched. She kept her smile. "That doesn't matter. We have properties around the globe. I can live wherever I want."
Tayson knew that she wasn't bragging. "Mr. Huo will never allow you to stay away from him," he said.
"He loves me very much. He won't stop me from going where I want and doing what I like."
"That's only because he knows you will come back eventually. But once I leave Y City, I will never come back."
Terilynn's smile froze on her face as she looked at the menu card absent-mindedly. "Are you sure? Is there nothing in Y City that will make you stay?"
"No, there isn't," he answered affirmatively.
Tayson was fully aware that if he showed any affection towards her that night, she wouldn't give up on him.
She closed the menu. Her smile disappeared. "Tayson, are you in love with someone?"
He waited a moment before answering. "When I visited my mother last time, she arranged a blind date for me in my hometown. She is a nice girl and I've already agreed to marry her. Our wedding will be held at the end of this year. I'll rent an apartment in Y City with her and we'll go back to our hometown when your sister gets married."
After quietly listening to him, Terilynn nodded, "So, you're already engaged and will get married at the end of this year."
"Yes."
"When did this happen? Why didn't you tell me?"
"Right after your sister came back from America." He was telling her the truth. Well, sort of.
Carlos knew that Terilynn liked Tayson, but he never meddled until Evelyn got pregnant.
The night before Tayson and Evelyn had to leave for America, Carlos had called him in and said, "If you like Terilynn, I'll make new plans for you. But if you don't like her, then you make some plans for yourself."
The day after he had come back from America, he went straight to his hometown. He went on a blind date with a girl. She was a teacher and was pretty filial.
Without Terilynn's knowledge, Tayson had brought the girl to visit Carlos.
He wanted Carlos to know that he had other plans. He didn't like Terilynn and he had no intention of getting together with her. He wanted his boss to know that he was getting married very soon.
Terilynn only smiled, which was just way worse than crying. "I see. So, you already have someone." If she insisted on being obsessed with him, she would be the "other woman" in his life.
Her strong self-esteem would never allow her to stoop so low.
"Yes." Tayson nodded.
"I see. Then, I won't be buying you any drinks. You may leave." Leaning against the sofa, she continued to read the menu as if nothing had happened.
Tayson hesitated for a while before asking, "Is Bennett here?"
Bennett Lan was her bodyguard.
"Yes, he is just outside the door." She sounded like her usual self.
"All right, I'll leave then." He opened the door.
Bennett Lan was standing guard outside. Tayson nodded to him curtly and left.
Terilynn asked the manager to send her a bottle of their best liquor. She opened the bottle and drank it slowly.
Around ten minutes later, the people in the bar could clearly hear the cry from inside the private booth.
The woman's voice was loud and pitiful.
Late that night
Supported by Bennett Lan, Terilynn walked out of the private booth to the Emperor parked near the bar. Seeing them, a man got out of the car.
"Mr. Huo," Bennett Lan nodded and handed the drunken girl to him carefully.
With a very straight face, Carlos claimed her from the bodyguard and asked coldly, "Terilynn, how drunk are you?" He gathered her in his arms and gently placed her in the back seat of the car.
Hearing the familiar voice, she tried to raise her head to see who it was, but she was feeling weak and couldn't move an inch.
"Who the hell are you? It's none of your business!"
Carlos said angrily, "You are not allowed to drink again."
"That's none of your business!" she said again.
"I'm your father! And you are way out of control!" Carlos snapped.
"Oh, Dad... Daddy, you are here." All of a sudden, she sat up and started crying in his arms.
His heart softened. He decided not to scold her. Terilynn didn't want to let go of him, so he had to sit in the car beside her and let her cry on his shoulder.
