Take My Breath Away Chapter 1037 - Deceive Him

As a dignified man, Sheffield was well aware that the reason why men were so miserable and unfortunate was not that they didn't have sufficient knowledge about women, but because they didn't listen to women.

In the parking lot, Evelyn was walking towards her own car. When she was close enough to her car, Sheffield grabbed her wrist and dragged her to the wine-red Maybach next to it.

She noticed the two cars parked very close to each other and commented, "What a coincidence! Our cars are parked next to each other." It was no wonder he followed her all the way in this large parking lot.

"No, it's not a coincidence. I purposefully looked for your car and parked next to it," Sheffield casually stated. He didn't want to hide anything. He thought there would be no point. After all, he drove around the whole parking lot just to find her car.

Evelyn was rendered speechless. It seemed like Sheffield always knew how to overwhelm her. However, she didn't understand. "What's the point of this?"

"Of course it has a point." Leading her to the passenger seat, he gallantly said, "Sit tight, Miss Huo. I'll take you home tonight."

She fastened her seat belt and looked into his eyes. "First, let's make it clear. I'm going home to my own house tonight," Evelyn said, putting emphasis on the word "own."

The smile on the man's face froze when he heard that. He couldn't help but feel dejected. "Haven't we already decided on this? You called me 'honey, ' so why can't we live together yet?" He had been consciously and meticulously preparing to live with her. So what she said was like a tremendous wave crashing on his jovial plans.

It took Evelyn a while before she could speak, casting silence inside the car. "Aren't you still mad at me for lying to you?" she finally asked. Ever since Sheffield apologized to her in the golf course and then her lie was exposed, he had been accusing her of deceiving him and hurting his feelings.

"Humph!" Sheffield snorted and grouched while he sat in the driver's seat.

He started the car and negotiated with her, "Fine, if you want to go home then go home. But on one condition. I'm not going to ask for too much. Just spend some time with me first and satisfy me."

Evelyn sighed helplessly. "Fine, no problem. Come home with me and I'll make sure you'll be happy. What do you think?"

"Which home? Your apartment?" he asked.

"The Huo family manor," she stated with a teasing smile.

"No way! Mr. Huo will certainly beat me to death. I may not get out of there with all of my body parts intact." It was still uncertain if Carlos had already accepted Sheffield as his son-in-law, so he wouldn't risk showing up at their manor so casually.

Evelyn chuckled under her breath. "Well then, there goes our plan for tonight. I'm not busy tomorrow afternoon. Why don't I come and see you instead?"

"Fine." He had no choice but to wait until tomorrow.

"But I'm actually worried about one thing." Evelyn turned to look at Sheffield with a serious expression on her face.

"What is it?"

"What if I can't enter the Theo Group's building?" she asked while pretending to be very upset about it.

Sheffield gave her an apologetic smile. With one hand holding the steering wheel, he grabbed her hand with his other one and placed it on his lap. "Why would you be worried about that? If anyone dares to stop you, I will come down and punch that person in the face!"

"What if it's you who will stop me?"

"No, no. I won't do it again!" he exclaimed with so much conviction.

When Evelyn heard the answer that she wanted, she sat back in the passenger's seat with a content expression and a wide smile on her face. She then said softly, "Okay, well it's getting late. Felix is still following us. You don't need to drive me home. You can pull over at the next crossroad and drop me off."

"Okay, don't bail on me tomorrow."

"Do you think everyone is like you?" Evelyn rolled her eyes at him, reminding him of how he stood her up last time.

He quickly understood that she was talking about the movie that they were supposed to watch. "That doesn't count. I actually went to the theater, but you didn't see me," he promptly defended himself.

Evelyn's beautiful eyes narrowed at him. "You came to the same theater that I went to only to sit in the last row just so you could avoid me. Why didn't you just go to another theater?"

Sheffield knew well enough that he'd better drop this issue so he apologized quickly, "I'm sorry. It's my fault. I won't do it again." He looked at her with a quaint smile and added, "Are you happy?"

"Humph!" She rolled her eyes at him but she actually felt much better with his apology.

When they reached the crossroad, Evelyn got out of Sheffield's car and got on her own which Felix had been driving.

When Evelyn arrived on the second floor of the house, she heard some giggles, seemingly from a kid. For her, there was no doubt that it was Gwyn's voice. It was rare for Evelyn to hear her daughter laughing, so she immediately walked towards the voice.

However, before Evelyn could go and see her daughter, Terilynn suddenly stopped her and dragged her into a room.

Evelyn couldn't wait to see her daughter so she was a little aggravated. She forcefully pulled her hand away from Terilynn's and asked, "Terilynn, what's the matter? Is this something urgent? If it isn't, let's just talk about it later. I want to check on Gwyn first."

"Evelyn, you heard her laughter, didn't you?" Terilynn excitedly said.

"Yes!" she exclaimed. That was exactly why she was in such a hurry to see her daughter. The little girl hadn't laughed like that in a long time and Evelyn was eager to see what was making her precious daughter laugh like that.

"Evelyn, it's about Gwyn. There's something that you should know." Initially, Terilynn wasn't planning on telling Evelyn about it so soon. But Gwyn had changed so much in the past few days. Terilynn thought it would be better to let Evelyn know right then.

"What is it? Tell me quickly."

Terilynn hesitated and then as if she was considering her every word, she slowly stated, "Um... As a matter of fact, Gwyn doesn't like Joshua. Well...she doesn't hate him, but she just kept on refusing to hug him."

"And then?" Evelyn asked, confused as to where this conversation was going.

"Therefore, it wasn't Joshua who played with Gwyn twice. He didn't buy the dinosaur toys, pretty skirts, hats, and basketball for her." Terilynn finally confessed everything.

Suddenly, Evelyn's heart tightened with the revelation. She had forgotten that she wanted to rush and see her daughter. Instead, she simply looked at her sister with wide eyes and earnestly asked, "Then who was it?"

"Well... it was Sheffield." Embarrassed, Terilynn quickly added, "Don't worry. I told him that Gwyn was our cousin's child. He still doesn't know that Gwyn is his biological daughter. I think it would be more appropriate if you tell him about it, so I lied."

Evelyn was stunned. She didn't know how to feel or react with this sudden information. So all this time, Sheffield had already met their daughter and they seemed to get along very well.

Terilynn became worried when Evelyn didn't say anything. She had no idea what she was thinking so she provided Evelyn with more details. "From the start, the uncle who Gwyn kept on mentioning was Sheffield. After she played basketball with him, she became such a happy little girl. She smiles more often after that. I'm telling you about all of this right now because I want you to think about whether it's time to tell Sheffield about this."

Terilynn felt that Sheffield had a great influence on Gwyn. He didn't do anything special when he was with the little girl. He only played with her twice, but there was immediate and apparent change with Gwyn's demeanor. Terilynn thought that it would be better for Gwyn to have more of her biological father's presence in her life.

After a short pause, Evelyn said, "I see. I'll definitely tell him soon, but it's not the right moment yet."

Although their relationship had improved quite a lot, her father hadn't even approved of their relationship yet. Evelyn was afraid that if something were to happen and she wouldn't end up with Sheffield in the end, it would be too troublesome if Gwyn were to be involved.

So just like what she had told Terilynn, Evelyn was determined to find an opportunity to tell Sheffield about it. She would tell him as soon as possible but it wasn't the right time yet.

In the children's room, Debbie and Carlos were playing with Gwyn. A lot of toys were scattered on the crawling mat. When Evelyn entered the room, her eyes caught the basketball near Gwyn. Evelyn had no idea that it was Sheffield who bought that until now.

When the little girl saw her mother, she got up from the floor and walked towards her.

Evelyn noticed that Gwyn's reaction was quicker than before. Although she didn't stand up as quickly as normal kids of her age, it was much better now.

"Sweetie." With a wide smile on her face, Evelyn squatted down and reached out her hands, waiting for the little girl to run into her arms.
