Chapter 830: What Do You Have to Get Rid of Me
Only then did Lin Yunan snap out of his daze and ordered the security officers. “Take Miss Ye Xingfei away to have some rest.”
The security officers hurriedly got to it.
Seeing that the show was over, the reporters dispersed and hurried back to get their article drafts done. There were great scoops today—Big Boss Li’s revelation of the Diva’s past was enough to keep the fans agitated and excited for a while.
Back in the building, Xia Ling and Li Lei went to a lounge.
Xia Ling asked him, “Why are you here?”
Li Lei was still slightly upset from what had just happened. “I was planning to just take you out to dinner, but who knew what I ended up witnessing. Didn’t you think to get someone else to handle it? Why did you show yourself?”
Xia Ling smiled at him. It really felt good to have him protect her.
She reached out a hand and stroked his face. “Angry? It’s nothing much, don’t think about it. Ye Xingfei is just a little girl, why take things to heart with her? She’s still immature.”
“Does being a little girl make it alright to spout nonsense?” Li Lei disagreed. “You’d better stay away from her in the future, and sever all ties with the Yes.”
Xia Ling nodded. “Alright.” She’d planned to help this little sister initially; after all, the actual Ye Xingling had been concerned about her sister even until her death. But after what had just happened, it did seem like there was no need to get too close to her. Ye Xingfei was still an immature girl, and putting her in the spotlight before she was mature enough wasn’t going to do her any good.
Out of the blue, Lin Yunan walked in. “Xiao Ling, that sister of yours is really a bother. We brought her to a lounge and now she’s crying inside and asking to go home. But how can I let her out like this? What if she spouts nonsense again?” He looked at her and Li Lei. “The both of you can decide what to do.”
“She’s no longer Xiao Ling’s sister.” Li Lei said.
“Alright, my mistake.” Lin Yunan did not give a hoot. “So, what do we do now?”
Xia Ling found this pretty troublesome to deal with. Girls that age were way more impulsive and street-smart than Auntie Liu—they might flare up and do things without considering the consequences. She could not threaten her the way she did Auntie Liu.
Xia Ling was caught in a fix.
But Li Lei said, “How about we send her to Skyart’s training camp?”
“Send her to Skyart’s training camp?” Xia Ling was skeptical about that suggestion at first, but it suddenly hit her. She smiled. “This is actually a pretty good idea, why didn’t I think of it? Ye Xingfei has always wanted to become a celebrity, sending her to training camp would help her with her technical skills and at the same time hone her patience and discipline.”
The training camp was Li Lei’s territory. As long as they got her in there, nothing much could happen.
Li Lei was grinning at himself. “I’ll get Tan Ying to discipline her.”
Xia Ling pinched his cheeks. “You’re the smart one.” She walked into the adjacent lounge in good spirits to tell Ye Xingfei about the decision.
Ye Xingfei had just slipped and fallen, evident from her elbow abrasion and dirtied clothes. She paced up and down anxiously and yelled at the bodyguard assigned to watch her. “What right do you have to lock me in here? I want to go home! I want to meet Ye Xingling!”
“Do you want to go home, or do you want to see me?” Xia Ling’s voice was heard coming from the door.
Ye Xingfei turned around abruptly and saw her—still in her exquisite gown and her perfectly done hair, looking elegant and beautiful. She then looked at herself and how pathetic she appeared. She felt her shame evolving into rage. “Ye Xingling, now that you’re rich and famous, you’re abandoning us? And you’re even getting outsiders to bully me?”
The bodyguard coldly said, “Is this how you speak to Miss Ling?”
She had already left the Ye family and acknowledged the Xias as her kin. The Xia family had also openly declared that her name in the Xia registry was officially “Xia Ling.” Hence, it was inappropriate for anyone to continue addressing her as “Miss Ye.” Yet, “Miss Xia” wasn’t all that suitable either—after all, Xia Ling and Ye Xingling were still recognized as two different people in the entertainment industry, with different voices and songs.
Only by calling her “Miss Ling” could everyone accept it.
Ye Xingfei bit her lip and kept quiet after being told off by the intimidating bodyguard. However, she did not conceal her indignance.
Xia Ling calmly said, “You really wish to become famous, don’t you?”
Ye Xingfei did not quite understand what she was getting at, and angrily replied, “What’s that got to do with you? Who doesn’t wish to become famous in this day and age? You don’t have to mock me over this. Back then, your singing couldn’t hold a candle to mine!”
The bodyguard was about to react once again, but Xia Ling raised her hand to stop him.
She looked at Ye Xingfei, and with her lips slightly curled at their tips, she proudly said, “Have you heard of this saying? ‘I love how you look, knowing that you detest me but can’t get rid of me.’”
“You! Don’t go overboard!” Ye Xingfei was practically panting from anger.
Xia Ling smiled again. “Did I say anything wrong? Ye Xingfei, just look at you, what difference are you from that shrew of a mother you have? You have nothing to your name now, what do you have to get rid of me? So what if you detest me? Did you really think that gathering a few reporters and creating some negative news about me would even hurt me a bit? I have a whole corporation of managers and security officers to deal with you, and you think a girl like you can make an impact?”
Ye Xingfei spat. “My mom is not a shrew! Ye Xingling, don’t you accuse her! I detest you, no… I hate you!” It was a complicated sort of hatred, the kind that had been buried within her the moment she regained consciousness from the coma. She was indignant. Why was it that all her splendor of the past had left her with nothing today? And yet, her quiet, introverted sister back then had turned into a megastar?
It was envy and jealousy mixed together.
And yet, there was guilt deep down inside her. She tried to suppress all the negative thoughts, knowing that she shouldn’t be hating her sister. But now that her sister was degrading her own mother, all her hatred began spilling from where they’d been hidden. She could now openly express her hatred for her sister, in the name of defending her mother.
“I hate you, I hate you, I hate you!” She yelled over and over.
Xia Ling was completely unmoved. There were so many people who hated her in both lifetimes combined, this little girl here didn’t make a difference.
Xia Ling glanced at Ye Xingfei. “If you hate me, then find a way to defeat me.”
“You think I can’t?” Ye Xingfei said. “One day, I’ll crush you with my foot!” Those words came from the bottom of her heart.
