Chapter 1296: Night Visit
Xia Yingluo went home happily and started her degenerate life of eating and sleeping. Although living in the training camp was decent, nothing could compare to the comfort of her own home. On a cold autumn night, she would hide in her room, wrap herself in her quilt and watch the moon. It was the best thing in the world.
Her room was on the second floor. It had a huge window and a balcony.
Xia Yingluo rolled around happily on her bed. Suddenly, she saw some movements on the balcony from the corner of her eye.
She immediately went on alert and stretched out to have a look.
Under the moonlight, a long silhouette of a man stood across the window, looking at her.
Wei Lingnan.
Xia Yingluo recognized him immediately. She felt butterflies in her stomach. If there was one thing she was unsatisfied with in her life, it would be this man.
She climbed out of bed bare-footed and opened the glass door.
“How did you get in?” She asked unhappily. The Li family’s home security was the best in the world. She was puzzled by how he could sneak in without anyone noticing.
Wei Lingnan looked at her. “I missed you.”
The wind blew on his neatly trimmed hair as the light in his eyes flickered.
Xia Yingluo replied coldly, “Is that so? Unfortunately, I don’t miss you. Wei Lingnan, please do not disturb my sleep. Leave.”
She closed the door, drew the curtains and went back on her bed.
Her bedroom was engulfed in darkness and the quilt exuded a calming smell.
However, Xia Yingluo couldn’t fall asleep. She tossed and turned, and could only think of Wei Lingnan’s face. She had been intentionally avoiding Wei Lingnan recently, but she had not expected him to come all the way to her house. Was it really because he missed her? What if she did not chase him away, what would he say? Xia Yingluo was shocked to find herself excited about it.
She became even more frustrated as she continued turning in bed. She looked at the clock—it was already three in the morning. A few hours had passed already, yet she could not bring herself to sleep. Realizing that she was probably not going to be able to sleep anyway, she climbed out of bed and turned on the lights, cursing Wei Lingnan for causing this. She washed up and looked for things to do.
How about watching the moon.
She drew the curtain and stepped out onto the balcony. What was before her shocked her—
Wei Lingnan was still standing there. A thin layer of snowflakes had fallen on his body and hair. He was looking up peacefully at the night sky, laying his sight in a faraway place.
Xia Yingluo thought it was her hallucination. She rubbed her eyes and realized it was really him.
“W-why are you still here?” She asked, stuttering. “How long has it been already?” Looking at the snowflakes covering his body, she thought, Thankfully, he’s an alien. If he was a human, he would have been frozen to death!
Wei Lingnan turned around and looked at her, smiling. “You finally came out.”
“I’m not here to see you, you lunatic!” Xia Yingluo was going nuts. She turned around, slammed the door and drew the curtain. The room once again fell into pin-drop silence. The heater melted her body’s coldness.
She flipped open a book to read, trying to take her mind off the person outside. However, just a few minutes passed before she slammed the book down. She cursed silently. “Wei Lingnan, even if you die, don’t die in my house.”
She stood up and found a blanket from the wardrobe. She drew open the curtain, opened the door and walked out onto the balcony.
Wei Lingnan was still in his original position. The dim moonlight fell onto his body, making him kind of mysterious and… vulnerable.
Xia Yingluo shook her head and tossed out the unrealistic thought. She must be crazy to think of this lunatic as vulnerable. She threw the blanket on him and said coldly, “Cover yourself with it, I won’t be responsible if you freeze to death.”
Wei Lingnan looked at the blanket and obediently covered himself.
Actually, as a Skatana species, he had survived even more treacherous weather and conditions. The mere cold on Earth was nothing to him. Nonetheless, he was happy to receive her compassion.
Xia Yingluo looked at him trying to cover himself with the blanket awkwardly. She could not stand it anymore and helped him with it. She reminded him. “Don’t drop it.”
“Okay.” He looked at her with longing eyes.
Xia Yingluo hesitated, but could not stop herself from touching his hands. It was cold as ice. She frowned. “How did this happen, are you courting death?”
He could feel her warmth from his fingertips. He did not want to leave this warmth.
He reached out his other hand and wrapped it around hers. “Cold.”
Xia Yingluo shuddered due to the cold from her hands. She glared sharply at him but did not take her hands out. “Come in, I’ll get you a cup of hot tea.”
Wei Lingnan followed her into the bedroom casually.
Her room was decorated nicely. It had a gentle and somewhat romantic theme, as seen from its design, texture and materials. On her bed was a little bear bolster which attracted Wei Lingnan’s attention.
“Don’t look around. If you look, I’ll throw you out again,” Xia Yingluo said angrily. She made a cup of hot tea for him, the top quality tea giving off a mildly sweet smell.
Wei Lingnan had a sip. Instantly, he felt warmth encapsulating his body.
Xia Yingluo asked, “Why were you standing outside my room for so long, looking to die?”
Wei Lingnan said, “I didn’t feel it was long.” Back on Skatana planet, he frequently guarded her at night. The nights were even longer, and danger lurked in the shadows. But just standing guard at her side was more than enough for him.
In comparison, the three hours was nothing.
It had been a while since he saw her, and he really missed her. While he was outside staring into the night sky, he remembered many things from the past and let time pass by him unknowingly.
Xia Yingluo glared at him angrily again. “Don’t do this again!”
He said, “I just wanted to see you.”
Xia Yingluo thought she was going crazy, how could he be so troublesome? “Fine, you saw me, now you can leave.”
“I still want to talk to you.”
Xia Yingluo was speechless.
Hmm, would she still be in time to call the police?
Suddenly, someone knocked on the door.
The both of them went silent.
Xia Yingluo asked, “Who is it?”
A lazy voice could be heard. “It’s me, Second Bro.”
It was Li Rui.
It was late, what was he here for?
