Timothy felt that it was far less frustrating to be buried in documents from morning to night than to be in
his situation then. “My car happened to pass by there, so I went and picked her up. How would I know
that she would say such things, and there would be journalists nearby?”
Ticked off, Johanna gave a bark of laughter. “So, you went to pick her up because you happened to
pass by there? Should I be lauding you for your kindness then, Mr. Jensen?”
While saying that, she even lifted her hands and clapped.
Timothy massaged his temples. Verily, he didn't want to get into it with her. “Why would I come here if I
don't want to explain things to you? Can you please be reasonable?”
Johanna turned to Genevieve. “Did you hear what he said? He actually said that I'm being
unreasonable!”
With her head pounding, Genevieve walked over to her and pulled the man beside her away. “Mr.
Benson and Mr. Jensen's relationship is close. It was indeed awkward for Timothy to decline when Mr.
Jensen had phoned him personally.”
Timothy swept his gaze over her in surprise, seemingly discerning something.
“He won't fall in love with Charlotte. Besides, Charlotte was inebriated then and was merely spouting off
in her drunken stupor,” Genevieve asserted.
“She wasn't spouting off in her drunken stupor. Instead, she's serious. After all, she has even published
a Twitter post!” Johanna sneered.
At once, Genevieve whipped out her phone. She then saw that Charlotte had posted a Twitter post with
her account ten minutes ago, thanking everyone for their wishes and assuring them that she would
make an announcement when the wedding date had been set.
The instant Timothy glimpsed that from her phone, his expression darkened.
“I'll give her a call.” He unlocked his phone.
“What's the use of giving her a call? It's far better that you go and talk to her face to face. May you both
beget a child soon. Asel's custody will be mine henceforth,” Johanna uttered calmly.
Stilling, Timothy jerked his head up and pinned his gaze on her. “You don't believe me no matter how I
explain?”
“We've long since divorced, so I don't need your explanation. I've got no objections even if the two of
you were to get married today.” Johanna wore an indifferent expression.
The corners of Timothy's eyes twitched, and his lips pressed into a thin line.
“Fine! I'll do as you wish and marry Charlotte as soon as possible. Remember to attend our wedding. I'll
definitely welcome you with open arms!” His voice was as cold as ice, every single word forced out
from between his teeth.
After saying that, he spun on his heels and left.
Just when Genevieve was about to chase after him, the private room door was pushed open once
more, admitting two tall bodyguards in black.
One of the bodyguards scanned the room. As soon as he spotted the few hosts sitting on the couch,
his brows quirked. “Ms. Rachford, Mr. Valentine urges you to watch yourself. Otherwise...”
Genevieve promptly changed her tone. “Otherwise, he'll kill me? Tell him to do it, then!”
Because of the bodyguards' presence, she couldn't say anything to Johanna. Nevertheless, Johanna
was seemingly not sad anymore, clamoring that she wanted to get wasted that night.
After returning to her condominium at a little over eleven o'clock, Genevieve checked the house before
going to the bathroom to phone Armand.
“Has Jerry succeeded in mollifying Charlotte?”
On the other end of the phone, Armand sighed helplessly. “No. Charlotte is foaming at the mouth. She
phoned everyone in the industry and cut off all of his resources in an effort to blacklist him. That aside,
she blocked all his contacts.”
Jerry had only joined the entertainment industry to kill time, so it didn't matter to him even if he was
blacklisted.
Genevieve had never expected Charlotte to visit Baykeep, much less patronize Remark Bar. She
couldn't help chastising Armand, “Who asked you to borrow Jerry's identity? Couldn't you continue
using Bruce's identity?”
“How was I to go there when Bruce isn't acquainted with Evan and the others?” Exasperation
inundated Armand.
“Well, why did you have to go to Baykeep?”
“I missed you too much.”
That simple remark of his dissipated Genevieve's wrath in the blink of an eye. “You should have had
Jerry ask Charlotte for her location. Then, things wouldn't be so troublesome,” she muttered.
Subsequently, she added, “If I'd known, I wouldn't have bitten you.”
Chuckling softly, Armand coaxed, “Be good and don't be angry anymore. I'll have Cooper seek Timothy
out and talk to him. Even if he wants to marry Charlotte in defiance, I'll make it so that he can't do so.”
Relief suffused Genevieve that he would handle the matter.
No sooner had she hung up the phone than someone knocked on the bathroom door hard, giving her a
fright.
