Charlotte watched in astonishment as the Mercedes-Benz drove away, feeling both angry and
wronged. She complained that Jerry was so rude; even if she had been too blunt in the morning, could
he really just leave her by the side of the road?
Charlotte was freezing and quickly jogged to the parking lot by the roadside to find her sports car. Once
she got in, she finally started to feel much warmer.
She had just tossed her bag onto the passenger seat when her phone, which had bounced out, lit up.
The phone call was from Jessica. Without waiting for Charlotte to speak, Jessica could hardly conceal
her excitement as she whispered, “Lottie, Mr. Gaudette is dead.”
Upon hearing this, Charlotte froze in surprise.
As soon as Joash drove the car into the underground garage of the apartment, Jerry's phone lit up.
He rubbed his tired eyes, and upon seeing the caller ID, his gaze dimmed slightly. Then, he answered
the call and held the phone to his ear. After a moment, he responded with a faint “Mm-hmm.”
After hanging up the phone, he said to Joash, who was about to get out of the car, “Take me to the
airport.”
At two-thirty in the morning, Jerry's private jet arrived at Xedells Airport. The temperature in Xedells
was minus five or six degrees, even colder than Jadeborough. Outside the airport, it was pitch black,
creating a somewhat frightening atmosphere.
Around four o'clock, the car that came to pick up Jerry at the airport dropped him off at the Pann
family's residence.
After getting out of the car, Jerry stepped into the surprisingly large building before him, which was a
fusion of Chinese and Western architecture. He walked through several corridors and, after a few
minutes, entered the living room.
The living room was brightly lit, with only a middle-aged man present.
A middle-aged man sat in a wooden armchair, sipping his coffee. He exuded an air of authority without
showing anger, his eyes sharp and filled with a hint of menace. His facial features subtly resembled
those of Jerry.
He was like a finely honed blade, with a single gentle stroke, it seemed as if he could even slice
through a person's soul.
As Jerry walked in, he stopped several meters away from the man, eyes downcast and silent.
Meanwhile, the man in the wooden armchair put down his cup and asked, “Is it cold in Jadeborough?”
“Thank goodness,” said Jerry.
The middle-aged man stood up and walked toward Jerry at a leisurely pace.
He fiercely slapped Jerry across the face. Despite Jerry's strong physique, he couldn't withstand the
force of the slap, causing his face to turn to one side.
Jerry swallowed the bloody taste in his throat and heard the man sternly say, “Who told you to mess
with the Gaudette family?!”
The man forcefully kicked Jerry in the leg.
Jerry's knees buckled as he fell to the ground, while the man continued to scold him, “I've warned you
time and time again not to get involved in politics and not to drag the Pann family down with you, yet
you still went ahead and did something like this!”
“Mr. Gaudette has been in politics for decades; do you really think that if his political career declines,
the Gaudette family will fall?”
That's because he knows there's no place for him in Jadeborough anymore, so he's showing weakness
on purpose! The party and government are always united. Do you really think those people who keep
their distance from the Gaudette family have nothing to do with them? As long as the Gaudette family
finds an opportunity, even if it's not in Jadeborough, it's easy for them to make a comeback elsewhere!
The man was nearly driven mad by Jerry's infuriating behavior, and he fiercely kicked him, saying,
“Once someone as important as him dies, the higher-ups will definitely investigate! You idiot!”
Jerry took the kick, straightened his back, and knelt there.
After the man finished speaking and caught his breath, Jerry said, “The Jensen family has always been
on good terms with the Benson family. When the Benson Corporation, such a large conglomerate,
collapsed, the Jensen family was terrified. They have long known that the Gaudette family was the
hidden force behind the downfall of the Benson Corporation, and they fear that they might become the
next Benson Corporation to fall.”
“So, what are you trying to say?” Sebastian lowered his head to look at Jerry, “The Jensen family wants
to eliminate the threat of the Gaudette family, and they've entrusted you to kill Mr. Gaudette?”
Jerry looked up at him, his eyes full of mockery, “Isn't murder the specialty of the Pann family?”
“You're being reckless.” Sebastian slapped him across the face.
Sebastian's face turned ashen, and he pointed at him in the air, coldly saying, “Don't think that just
because you're spending your days on stage, leading a befuddled life, I don't know what you've been
up to behind the scenes!”
“The Pann family has plenty of children, all smarter than you. If you don't learn to restrain yourself and
end up dragging the Pann family down, I'll make sure you're finished!”
