Chapter 1209 Most of them were pieces of jewelry that dazzled underneath the ceiling lights. John
swiped a glance across them and noticed a bracelet with its diamonds carved into the shape of tiny
wine glasses. It was a unique and intricate design.
Upon noticing John staring at the bracelet, Peter gestured at it and said, “Sir, you have very good taste.
This was just released very recently, and there are only ten such pieces in the world. It is the work of
Susan Maroon, one of the best designers in the world, and it is also the most
expensive item here.”
A better way to put it would be that the price of everything else here combined was still nowhere close
to the price of this particular diamond bracelet.
John grinned. “Pack this one separately from the others.”
Peter hesitated and asked, “Sir, why do you want them packed separately? I thought you were buying
all of these for the madam?”
John suddenly shot him a look. “Peter, you seem to be asking a lot of questions lately. Don’t you have
any other work on your hands?”
Peter stated for a second and hurriedly replied, “Yes, sir,
I’ll have it packed right away.”
He rose and prepared to attend to the task instructed.
“Wait a minute.” John suddenly stopped him.
Peter stopped and waited for his order.
John took the box containing the diamond bracelet shaped like a wine glass. “I’ll just keep it with me.
You can take the rest away.”
“Okay.” Peter quickly took the remaining jewelry and left the room with them.
John smiled satisfactorily as he stared at his reflection in the diamond bracelet. That little alcoholic
would be greatly pleased to receive such a gift. 1
Ring!
Suddenly, his phone rang.
He glanced at the display which showed the caller ID, then he put the phone to his ear and answered
the call,“ Julie, what is it?”
Julie spoke into the phone very cautiously, “Brother, there’s something but I’m not sure if it’s fine for me
to tell you.”
The look in John’s eyes flickered. “If you have something to say, just say it.”
Julie proceeded to reveal what she knew, “This afternoon,
a friend of mine accidentally bumped into Shannon and Mason in a cafe.”
John was hardly bothered by the news. He was even grinning from ear to ear, clearly intrigued by this.
“What, is she sneaking off on a date with him?”
“I don’t think so.”
His eyes darkened. “Then, why did they meet up?”
Even on the other side of the phone, Julie could notice the slight dejection in his voice as he asked the
question. She frowned and said, “My friend says that she heard Shannon borrowing money from
Mason.”
“Why is she borrowing money from Mason?” John asked curiously: “I don’t know, but she’s not asking
for chump change. It’s eight hundred million, bro.”
John squinted his eyes.
Julie further supplied, “My friend also overheard Sherry’s name from their conversations. I can’t tell if
the money has anything to do with Sherry. Did something happen to the Fowlers lately? I was just
worried that Shannon was reluctant about asking you for money and decided to borrow from someone
else, so I figured I should inform you about something like this.”
John fell deep into thought and asked, “Are you sure they were talking about eight hundred million?
And they
spoke about Sherry as well?”
in
Julie stated, “My friend was sure she heard something about eight hundred million and Sherry’s name
came up as well.”
“What else did your friend hear?”
“Well, it seems that Mason has got eight hundred million.”
John’s eyes gleamed with ice but he was smiling. “I see, you don’t need to worry about it. Just pretend
you don’t know anything. I’ll be back by tomorrow and I’ll handle it myself.”
“Alright, do you need me to prepare anything for your return tomorrow?”
“No need.”
John hung up. He was glowering sinisterly, and not a trace of warmth could be seen on his face.
He threw the phone aside and plucked the wineglass shaped diamond bracelet from the box and held it
in the center of his palm, clasping his fingers tightly around it.
Crack!
The bracelet snapped , and countless tiny beads of tiny diamond-carved wine glasses clattered to the
floor and scattered everywhere.
