Chapter 1311
Shermaine looked at Sylvia again and said with a sincere expression, “Mrs. Carter, Master Carter and I
are innocent. We-“.
“Let‘s go, Charles,” Sylvia said to Charles. She did not spare Shermaine a glance and simply turned to
leave.
Charles sneered at Shermaine. “Sylvia is smart, so you can save your little tricks for the fools instead.”
Christopher patted him. “Alright, that‘s enough.”
The two men then followed Sylvia out.
Shermaine frowned and immediately put on an aggrieved expression. “Assistant Bogard, you know that
there‘s really nothing between Master Carter and me.”
Cliff comforted her, “I know. Mrs. Carter is still angry at Master Carter and only ignored you because of
him. Don‘t take offense.”
Shermaine pursed her lips. “I hope I don‘t end up affecting their relationship, or the guilt will eat me
alive.”
Cliff smiled and raised his hand to pat her shoulder. “The innocent have nothing to fear. Mrs. Carter
isn‘t an unreasonable person. Everything will be fine once Master Carter explains it to her. Let‘s go.”
“Okay.”
As Shermaine walked away with him, a touch of smugness surfaced in her eyes.
She originally wanted to play out the scene where the foolish Charles bullied her, and have Odell play
the part of the hero saving the damsel in distress. Ruth said that many men liked to play the knight in
shining armor. As long as she acted realistically , she might be able to jump into Odell‘s arms and
weep, making him pity her more. Unexpectedly, Sylvia turned up and even insisted on defending that
fool and annoying Odell. However, what surprised Shermaine even more was that Odell stood up for
her while disregarding Sylvia. Could this man also harbor some thoughts about her? Or was he already
tired of Sylvia?
Whatever it was, Shermaine was very pleased.
Sylvia, Christopher, and Charles took a car back to the Art Academy.
On the way back, Charles recounted to them how Shermaine set him up. After finishing, he fumed, “Not
all beautiful women are kind–hearted. She‘s like a venomous snake, vicious and disgusting.”
Christopher sighed. “You said that there‘s no enmity
between you two, so why did she set you up like that?” Charles huffed, “How would I know? What
rotten luck. I wouldn‘t have bothered with her if not for the fact that she looks similar to Sylvia.”
“Forget it. What‘s passed has passed. Think of it as a lesson and don‘t approach unfamiliar women
again in the future.”
“Definitely.”
The car quietened down.
Seeing Sylvia looking out the car window with a cold expression without speaking, Charles and
Christopher both glanced at her.
Charles said in a small voice, “Sylvia, I get impulsive when I‘m angry, so I was talking out of my *ss
when I said that Master Carter and that secretary were having an affair. Don‘t let my words affect you.”
Sylvia pursed her lips. “I‘m fine.”
At that point, the car stopped in the academy parking lot. Sylvia pushed open the car door and got out.
Charles also got out and wanted to catch up to her to explain the situation to her, but Christopher pulled
him back. “Just go back and rest. I‘ll talk to her.” Christopher then walked toward Sylvia.
When he reached her, he said in a low voice, “Sylvia, I know I have no right to say this, but you have to
be on guard against other people. That secretary really looks similar to you, and her intentions are
clearly not that straightforward . Many men can‘t resist the temptation either, so it‘s better if you are
wary.” Sylvia‘s brows wrinkled. “I know.”
“Okay, then I‘ll leave now.” “Bye.”
