"It went pretty well."
Odell smiled faintly. “Looks like Caprice is more capable than we thought.”
Upon hearing this, John beamed with pride. “She did pretty well. You can say that she inherited
something from her parents.”
Odell flicked an eyebrow and commented with a smile, “That must mean that she’s destined for great
things in the future.”
John took a sip of tea, and expressed, “All I want is for her to live a peaceful, happy life.”
Of course, he would be glad if Caprice was willing to take over the reins of the family business.
Nevertheless, above all else, what mattered most to him was the well-being and happiness of his dear
daughter.
Odell poured him another cup of tea while adding nonchalantly, “ Don’t worry, Liam will take good care
of her, and I’m sure she will live a good life with him.”
John's expression suddenly changed. He said in a mildly confrontative voice, "It's a bit early to say that.
I haven't agreed to them getting engaged just yet.”
Odell handed him the cup of tea he had just poured and stated candidly, “What conditions have to be
met to get you to agree? Just name them.”
As John took the cup from him, a look of relief flashed in his eyes. He had known Odell for decades by
this point and was well aware of what sort of person he and Sylvia was. Furthermore, he had watched
their children grow up and was familiar with their personalities as well.
It was the same for Caprice. The children of their two families had grown up together and knew each
other since they were toddlers.
He was certain that Liam would never mistreat Caprice if they got engaged.
Furthermore, he was the perfect match for Caprice based solely on his family background, his
accolades, and even his looks.
However, Caprice was only nineteen years old. She had barely stepped into adulthood, and they were
already going to take her away from him. It was too much for him to stomach!
With this in mind, he clenched tightly onto the cup, and his fingers pressed into its ceramic surface.
He juggled the thought in his mind for a while before meeting Odell’s gaze. He spoke sincerely, “Both
you and Sylvia know that Caprice is my only daughter and how much she means to me and Sherry. My
family is based in Glanchester, and all of our business assets are based in Glanchester as well.”
Odell entered a brief, ruminative silence. He asked, “Are you proposing that Liam marry into your family
instead?”
John grinned at the prospect. “Would that work?”
Odell fell silent. He had to resist the urge to shoot a glare at John. Then, he remarked, “I'll have to talk
with my wife about this.”
John smiled gladly. “Sure.”
Time flew by them without them noticing it. They had finished lunch and it was well past afternoon.
Caprice had barely considered that she would have to leave Liam when her father served her a
reminder, "Caprice, are you going back to Glanchester with us this evening or are you going back to
the dorm?”
Since the new semester would commence in two days, it would not make sense for her to head back to
Glanchester. She did not feel like heading back to her dormitory just yet either.
“Can't I just stay here?” John said stoutly, "No, go back to your dorm or come home with us.”
“I’m going back to the dorm.” She did not want to sit through the long drive to Glanchester only to return
to Westchester a day later. She whipped a look at Liam as she said this. John spoke up, “Alright then,
we’ll send you back to the dorm first.”
Liam suddenly proposed, "Uncle John, Aunt Sherry, why don’t I send her back to the dorm?”
"No need. Your parents have something important they want to talk to you about.” Upon making this
remark, he turned to Odell and smiled suggestively.
Odell barely acknowledged his smile.
Sylvia looked at Odell uncertainly because she had no clue what
John was talking about but figured it had something to do with the two men’s discussion just now. She
turned to Liam, “Liam, after they go back to Glanchester, they’re not going to see Caprice for a while.
Why don’t you let them send her back to the dormitory instead?”
Liam swiped a look at Caprice. "Okay."
Caprice pursed her lips.
Sylvia made a good point; it was better to let her parents send her off. Besides, she was already in
Westchester. Nothing was stopping her from visiting Liam tomorrow.
