Chapter 1487: Real or Fake

“Hmph. Know a person’s appearance but not their heart. Who knows what she’s hiding inside?” Madam Ji lightly snorted and closed her eyes to rest.

“Auntie, you—”

“Alright, Jingwan; stop persuading me. I know it inside. Come and give me a massage again. Your massage is better than the masseuses outside. They don’t even dare to use any strength, making the massage not enjoyable.”

“That’s only because masseuses outside all think that your skin is so good, so they can’t bear to exert strength.”

“Ha ha. You’re such a sweet-talker, lass. It’s like your words are coated in honey.”

“Even if that’s the case, it’s all because of you, auntie, or else, with just me, who will give honey to eat?”

“Aish! Alright, alright. You’re still the best at making me happy.” The older woman’s eyes curled into crescents from smiling. She could not hold back her praise for the lady next to her. “With Pei Ge pregnant, she can’t go to the company temporarily. I’ll tell my son to bring you over to familiarize yourself with things. Once you get familiar with the company’s operations, you’ll be able to help him, too.”

“Let me enter the company? Okay. I’ll definitely properly help manage the company; rest assured.”

Within the CEO’s office, a particular activity finally ended. Ji Ziming carried Pei Ge into the shower to help wash up before opening the wardrobe to get fresh clothes. After changing into a new suit, he selected a female attire.

“Why are there women’s clothes in your office?” The woman looked at him, suspecting him of having robbed an entire clothing store.

“You forgot?” He had put on his shirt and was buttoning it. His movements were suave and sleek, and his eight packs attracted all of the woman’s attention. “The clothes we went to buy at the department store last time, half are at home and the other half are here.”

“You really bought all of them?”

Pei Ge looked at him in surprise, but her loving gaze was still noticed by the man.

Buttoning two more buttons, Ji Ziming lay down stomach first before her and raised her chin up with his large hand. “Why? Did I not satisfy your appetite earlier? If you use such a tender and loving gaze to look at me, I will get jealous.”

“What are you jealous about?” She hid her chest from his sight by hugging it with her arms, not understanding what he meant.

“I will start to wonder if you are in love with my figure or me as a person.”

“You are…”

She rolled her eyes. She had seen narcissistic people, but he was the first of his kind.

“Then, you have nothing to be jealous about as your figure, as well as yourself, belongs to you, so no matter which part of you I love, everything belongs to you.”

“I like your answer.” The man moved his head closer to her and pressed his sharp and thin lips against hers. “Do you want to rest for a bit or prepare to set off for Red Star now?”

“I’m not tired. Let’s go there now.”

She reached for the clothes the man had placed on the blanket and moved to put them on, only to notice that he was still staring at her.

“What are you doing? Turn around; I wanna put on my clothes.”

“Why do I have to turn around when you change clothes? Which part of you haven’t I seen?”

“Why are you so annoying?!”

Her cheeks burned in abashment. After stuffing all her clothes under the blanket, she crawled under it, too. “If you don’t turn around, I will change inside the blankets.”

“You’re already a mother of three, so you don’t need to do this in front of their father.”

“No, I need to do this.”

Under the blanket, she managed to grab hold of one of her innerwear. Just as she moved to wear it, the man suddenly stood up. “Fine. Come out and wear them. I’ll just not look at you; I also need to wear my clothes.”

“That’s more like it.” She got out of the blanket and started wearing her tops before her bottoms.

After the two were dressed, they exited the room. Ji Ziming picked up the handphone he had left on the table and realized that his mother had given him over a dozen calls. He coldly narrowed his eyes at it in thought but was unable to figure out why his mother would call him.

“What’s wrong?” Pei Ge adjusted her coat, finding it to be a perfect fit for her figure. The khaki skirt made her calves look even longer and slimmer, while the white coat was accentuated by the shape of her chest.

“My mother called me many times.”

“She called me, too.” She picked up her phone. Without unlocking it, she could see a notification showing that she had received seven or so missed calls from the man’s mother.

“Could something have happened at home?”

“Make a call back. Just in case something happened at home.”

“Mhm.”

The man nodded and dialed his mother’s number.

The call was quickly picked up, but the receiver was Qu Jingwan.

“Hello, Ziming. You finally called back.”

The lady’s sickeningly sweet voice made him immediately bring the phone away from his ear and put her on speaker.

“You don’t know how worried auntie and I are about you guys. We called so many times, but both of you did not answer. Where did you guys go?”

“We were busy.”

Madam Ji quickly sat up from the bed when she heard the lady next to her conversing with her son. “Jingwan, pass me the phone.”

“Okay. I’ll hand the phone over to auntie now, Ziming.” The lady spoke on the phone, acting a scenario of a pair of lovers. “Here. Your son called.”

“Son, let me ask you. When are you bringing Pei Ge back home? She is pregnant and shouldn’t stay out for so long. That is bad for the baby in her stomach. She needs to rest and stay at home.”

“We will be back tonight.”

“What tonight? I want you guys home now. I don’t feel safe leaving my grandchild with you guys. She is at the most critical stage of her pregnancy; you… You can’t touch her, understand?”

Her protective actions toward Pei Ge made Qu Jingwan feel that the older woman still believed that that woman was pregnant. Just as she thought that she had miscalculated this time, the older woman suddenly adopted a different attitude. “I have time tomorrow, so I wanna bring her to the hospital for a thorough checkup. My grandchild must be safe and sound.”

When the woman next to the man heard this, she guiltily tugged on his arm. Her expression was flustered and nervous, just short of voicing the words ‘What should we do? What should we do?’ written all over her face.

Holding her hand, the man calmly answered, “Go to the hospital for a checkup? I’ll bring her there now. We’ll come home after the checkup. Mom, is there anything else?”

The older woman did not expect him to reply as thus. “No, but…”
