Chapter 1519: Do not wake up easily from a beautiful dream.

“If only Pei Ge is as obedient as you are.”

“Grandma, is mommy not obedient? She doesn’t listen to you?” The girl looked up and asked in a smaller voice as she blinked her doe eyes at her grandmother. The worry on her small face made her angry and caused her to be full of heartache. “Your mommy is pregnant with your little sibling, yet she still runs around to work with your daddy. Isn’t she very naughty?”

“Didn’t mommy go out to relax with daddy? Why is she going to work?”

Ran Ran felt even more worried upon hearing this. Her mommy had previously promised her that she would properly take care of the baby in her tummy, but if she went out to work, she would be unable to take care of her sibling. Thinking of this, she pursed her lips. “Let’s properly talk to mommy tonight. She will definitely listen.”

“Okay.” The older woman pinched her nose. Compared to the mother, she liked this eloquent granddaughter of hers more.

Meanwhile, lying on the bed with her back facing them, the frown on Qu Jingwan’s forehead tightened. What should I do to expose Pei Ge’s fake pregnancy yet prevent it from implicating me? She had thought of many plans before, but they were all not executable as they were too obvious to Ji Ziming that she had planned it or she had to come up front herself. That would expose her true motive in front of him, though.

What should I do?

She lay in bed and watched the sunbeams filtered in through the gaps in the curtains and then a thought struck her. Yes, I still have grandma.

Her grandma was experienced and intelligent, so she would always have ways to expose Pei Ge. Now that she had already gained the trust of the man’s mother and son, and the two children were slowly getting closer to her, as long as that woman accompanied the man to the company, she would have enough time to make the two kids accept her like the boy did.

“Jingwan, rest some more and we will return home.” Madam Ji only recalled that there must be someone home after she chatted a little with the kids and saw Ji Chi getting sleepy following the nurse’s attaching of a new IV drip on him.

As they left the house in a hurry, she forgot to inform her husband about their grandson falling sick.

“Jingwan?” She called the lady but did not receive a reply. Hence, she turned to look at her and lightly pushed her shoulder. “Are you asleep?”

The latter quickly closed her eyes and pretended to be fast asleep. She had been too deep in her thought that she had forgotten that the older woman was sitting beside her. If the other knew what she was thinking, all her effort thus far would have been for naught.

No, I mustn’t let auntie find out.

She closed her eyes and relaxed her body, looking the part of a person deeply asleep.

Upon standing up and finding her peacefully asleep, the older woman turned around to speak softly to the two kids. “Your auntie is asleep. Shall we play here a bit and wait for her to wake up before going home?”

Her granddaughter softly replied, “Okay. Let’s wait for auntie to wake up.”

She then turned to look at her eldest grandson. After a slight hesitation, he nodded, too.

At ease, she gently covered Qu Jingwan with a thin blanket from the bed. Even though she was feigning sleep, the lady, who could feel her concern, heaved a sigh of relief. That was too easy to feign sleep.

She closed her eyes and continued thinking about how she could make the older woman discover Pei Ge’s fake pregnancy. They were at the hospital now, so she could not easily strike out. The reason was simple; the couple knew that she had investigated the doctor who had given them the fake pregnancy report.

As she was in deep thought, she inadvertently drifted into sleep.

In her dream, Ji Ziming was holding her hand and showing her a sweet smile. Standing at the bottom of the stairs, he said in a low and seductive voice, “Jingwan, will you marry me? I will love you with my whole life.”

“I do.” She heard herself reply.

In that hazy dream, they seemed like a match-made in heaven. The wedding march played in the silent chapel—it was her favorite music in college.

“Do you like it?” The man held her hand gently and walked toward the piano. Listening to the music she loved and seeing the radiant smile on his face, she nodded. “I like it a lot.”

“If you like it, shall I play it for you every day?” He swept up the end of his swallow-tailed coat and sat in front of the piano.

His ten fingers fluttered on the black-and-white keys of the piano nimbly, while she stood beside him and listened indulgently. The piano music represented everything. She felt as though she could hear his heart beating for her and also the sincerity in his voice as he proposed to her.

“Will you marry me?”

“Yes.”

She closed her eyes and enjoyed the beautiful moment in front of her. As she slowly opened her eyes, the man was still there. He had an all-too-familiar cold smile on his lips. “Jingwan, shall I give you all my family’s assets? As long as you agree to marry me, I will give you everything you want, including myself. My person, my body, and everything of the Ji family will all be yours.”

She did not know when but the man was kneeling on one knee while holding a pigeon-egg-size diamond ring. The sincerity in his eyes touched her heart. “Are you serious about this?”

“Of course, I am. My heart for you has never changed. I have always loved you. I am attracted by your beauty and I have been conquered by your kindness. Agree to be my woman; I can give you the entirety of my family’s assets.”

His ephemeral features became even more unreal in the hazy dream. She even felt that they were slowly changing.

Soon, Qu Qingyu’s face appeared. The other man’s sincere face was no longer present. Rather, her cousin was frowning at her in anger as though regarding prey in his hand. “You want to marry him? You actually want to abandon me for his family assets?”

“No, no. It’s not like that.” She fervently shook her head and looked at the man, who had a deranged expression. Suddenly, she felt as though the wedding march piano melody was a requiem of death.

She kept running, yet no matter how much she ran, she could not reach the door of the chapel. The wide-open door was emitting rays of brilliant light, and as she got closer, a black silhouette appeared. The figure slowly turned around. The person was Ji Ziming, who was wearing the same swallow-tailed coat as Qu Qingyu.
