Chapter 1610: Knew that She would not Let Him Off Easily
Pei Ge dared not delay further as she hurriedly called her secretary.
“Check this phone number for me.”
She only put down her phone after relaying the phone number. She was not one to dwell on a relationship. She knew the things she should be doing and was willing to work hard for them.
“Sure, I’ll go check.”
After receiving her instructions, the secretary dared not dawdle. This was a crucial moment for the company, for they had not found yet what companies besides Lvjia were prying on their company’s walls.
Pei Ge began to think through what had happened to her company up until today and how many losses they had incurred.
After getting off her bed, she went to her closet and picked a light green, checkered dress for herself. She put on a light makeup, and even though she looked unassailable, she would be consumed by sadness whenever she thought about the man.
She entrusted the house steward with some matters before driving off in an inconspicuous car.
Arriving at her destination, she experienced a rude shock when she saw Ji Ziming standing by the windows.
“Why are you here?”
The man turned around and was equally shocked to see her here; admiration flashed across his eyes. He looked coldly at the woman, who was standing at the entrance while looking exceptionally beautiful.
“Mr. Ji, Mrs. Ji, why don’t you…”
Ji Ziming was here with He Yun to investigate his woman’s company matters. After all, this person here was recommended by Bi Zheng, so he came over.
Seeing that Pei Ge was here, too, he knew that either Qin Qitong or Bi Zheng recommended her, but it was more likely to be the former.
“I’ve spoken to her about it.”
He walked toward her, his figure akin to a huge net pressing down on her and suffocating her.
Just like this, Pei Ge was pulled out of the office by the man before she had the chance to greet the person sitting in the chair. She did not even notice what the person had addressed her.
“Don’t pull me.”
She tried to break free from his grip but failed, so she could only retreat, not wanting him to pull her away from this place by force.
“What’s wrong? You’re my woman, yet you don’t want me to touch you?”
He pretended to be angry because protecting her safety was his utmost priority and he did not expect her to run all the way here on her own.
“Don’t touch me,” she replied feebly.
“Oh?”
He stopped moving but continued to tighten his grip on her hand. The man was waiting for her question or explanation but forgot that she had already asked him this morning, and he was the one unwilling to provide an answer.
“Are you saying that you don’t want me to touch you?”
His eyes darkened as though the person whose lips had curled earlier was not him.
Having lived with him for a long time, the woman knew that there were two sides to him, so she was not that surprised. She stood in a daze and asked, “What are you doing here?”
“Whatever you’re here for is why I’m here.”
He smiled as he saw that the woman minded his sudden aloofness and distance. He was in no rush to explain himself and looked forward to the surprises that she would bring him.
She felt that this man would never tell her anything, so she decided to look for the person herself, but before she could take a step, the man pulled her from behind and spoke ruthlessly, in a manner that was unusual for him.
“Are you looking for that person?”
Pei Ge felt that his words sounded mocking.
“That’s right. Since I don’t know what I want to know, I can only look for him.”
She wanted to walk to the room but was pulled into his embrace. Her face slammed into the man’s chest.
“Don’t go; I’ll tell you everything that you want to know.”
Ji Ziming could no longer maintain his air. He was a massive jerk in front of this woman when he saw her being sad over him, yet he was unwilling to explain himself still. This went on until she wanted to seek another person right before him; no matter who that person was, he would not allow it.
Her brain could not process it when she was pulled into his embrace. He tried to say that he knew everything and even expected her to look for the person; rather, he was specially waiting here for her.
“It’s my fault; I shouldn’t have done this to you. I should’ve told you everything and not let you come here on your own.”
The man apologized, but she could not digest what she was hearing.
She knew that her man would never easily dismiss or not trust her.
“So all these are your…”
Pei Ge paused as the truth was laid bare before her eyes. While he knew much more than her, he still did this to protect her.
“Silly, you’re my woman, so how can I let other people bully you?”
He smiled as he caressed her hair dotingly. “Be good. Let’s go back home, and I’ll tell you everything that you wanna know.”
“Really?”
She lifted her head. Right now, the person behind that door no longer had value. She had also completely forgotten what Qin Qitong instructed her to do as the only thing on her mind presently was to head home with this man.
Her watery eyes met his gentle orbs, and all her doubts about him dissipated.
“Come on; let’s go home.”
Ji Ziming’s enchanting voice was full of concern and love. Fortunately, he pulled her out of the room in the nick of time. His little woman did not disappoint him, indeed.
“Sure. Tell me everything, including where you slept last night.”
He smiled in a silly manner, knowing that this woman would not let him off so easily.
