“You didn’t hear wrongly. Mr. Qu is indeed my uncle. I’ll find a suitable time to explain the reason to you. I want to bring Ran Ran upstairs to her room now.”

Pei Ge explained once again. Seeing Ran Ran lying on the sofa, she could not bear it and said to Ji Ziming, “Ziming, bring Ran Ran to her room. The wind is strong here and it’s a little cold.”

“Okay.”

Ji Ziming narrowed his eyes and looked at Qu Xiujie who was sitting beside him before looking at his mother. Without saying anything, he carried Ran Ran upstairs.

Just as Pei Ge reached the fifth step, Mother Ji, who was sitting on the sofa, asked, “Ge Ge, why are you still calling me auntie? What should you call me?”

“What should I call you? Ge Ge hasn’t registered her marriage with your son Ziming yet.”

Qu Xiujie provoked her first and looked at Mother Ji with displeasure. “Are you still asking Ge Ge to call you Mom?”

“Who asked you to speak? I don’t care if you’re Ge Ge’s uncle or not. This is the Ji family and my family. In my family, you have to abide by the Ji family’s rules and not speak to me.”

Mother Ji rolled her eyes at Qu Xiujie with a hint of dissatisfaction.

“Mom, uncle, stop quarreling. I’ll bring Ran Ran upstairs and come down later.”

Pei Ge looked at the two sitting on the sofa with a smile.

“Okay, I’ll wait for you. When you come down, you have to explain clearly who this old man is.”

Mother Ji nodded and looked at Qu Xiujie as she spoke.

“Who are you calling an old man?”

Qu Xiujie had the principle of not attacking women but seeing how Mother Ji kept provoking him, he did not think too much and stood up to look down at her.

Because of Qu Xiujie’s sudden action, Mother Ji was shocked. She looked up at him with a vicious gaze. “Why are you standing so high up? Are you trying to show that you are tall? So what if I’m shorter? I’m older than you!”

Mother Ji extended her leg and hit Qu Xiujie’s knee, causing him to sit on the sofa. The two of them looked at each other awkwardly.

Pei Ge stood on the stairs and looked at the two people in the living room. Her lips curled into a smile, but she shook her head and walked up the stairs herself.

Walking in front of Ji Ziming, Pei Ge opened the door first before letting Ji Ziming carry Ran Ran into the room. The pink room’s decoration made Ran Ran’s mood change slightly.

“Ran Ran, be good. Daddy will get you a glass of water.”

Ji Ziming placed Ran Ran on the bed and walked to the sofa and coffee table to pour a cup of hot water for her. After cooling it down repeatedly, he then brought a cup of tea to Ran Ran.

“Daddy, did you add sugar?”

Ran Ran looked at the teacup in Ji Ziming’s hand and frowned. She really did not want to drink the hot tea that Ji Ziming poured from the coffee table.

“You want sugar?”

“Yeah, if we don’t add sugar, the tea will be so bitter.”

Ran Ran frowned. Although she wanted to drink it, she did not want to take it from him.

“Ran Ran, listen to me. You’re sick now, so you have to drink this warm tea. If you want to drink sweet drinks, you can only drink it after you’ve recovered.”

Pei Ge looked at Ran Ran with a hint of unhappiness on her face. She wanted to make use of this illness to have her parents by her side, but she did not expect them to ask Ran Ran to treat her well as usual.

A child’s small satisfaction was not approved by the Pei Ge and Ji Ziming.

“But, mommy, my mouth is bitter right now…”

Ran Ran choked as she looked at Pei Ge with concern. Pei Ge felt her heart ache.

“Okay, then. Put some honey in it, okay?”

Pei Ge bent down and looked at Ran Ran’s beautiful face. “Ran Ran, mommy will get you some honey, okay?”

“Is there only honey?”

Ran Ran finally knew how to catch her mommy.

“Only honey. If you don’t like it, I’ll go to the kitchen to see if Auntie Zhang has anything else you want to eat, okay?”

“No need, Mommy. Honey then. Pour some honey in this tea.”

“Okay.”

Pei Ge nodded and patted Ran Ran’s head. Her hair was soft, but Ran Ran’s eyes were sickly weak.

“Then wait here for Mommy. Mommy will get you some honey.”

Pei Ge stood up and walked out of Ran Ran’s room to return to her room. When she opened the door, she saw An An and little Ji Chi building a huge wooden castle.

“You guys…”

Pei Ge was a little surprised. She had not seen An An and Ji Chi from the moment she entered. They were hiding in her room.

“Mommy, why are you back?”

An An stood up with surprise in his eyes. According to the time, Pei Ge and Ji Ziming should still be on their way to the office.

“What’s wrong? Can’t mommy come back earlier? Little sister is sick, so of course mommy has to come back quickly.”

Pei Ge laughed out loud as she looked at An An and little Ji Chi. Their hands were hiding something behind their backs, but Pei Ge could not see it from her eyes. The two of them were clenching their fists tightly.

“Mommy, can you come in later?”

An An looked behind him. He and little Ji Chi had spent half a day building a castle and tthey were only left with one fortress before they completed all the work.

“Okay. Mommy will come and get some honey. I’ll leave after I’m done. You guys have fun. Mommy will come back when you call Mommy in, okay?”

Pei Ge smiled as she looked at her two sons. They were the most handsome boys and looked very much like Ji Ziming when he was gentle.

“Okay. Mommy, where’s your honey? I’ll get it for you.”

An An nodded and asked with a smile.

“No need. I can get it myself. You guys have fun.”

Pei Ge waved her hand and walked to the bookshelf to get the honey before leaving her room. Standing at the door, Pei Ge sighed and looked at the ‘big project’ on the floor. She really felt that these two children must have prepared it at home for a long time.

When they reached Ran Ran’s room, Ji Ziming was sitting beside her and consoling her softly.

“But Daddy, why doesn’t the princess like little frogs? They’re so cute.”

Ji Ziming was telling Ran Ran the story of the Frog Prince, but Ran Ran kept asking questions and that made Ji Ziming speechless. Pei Ge walked behind Ji Ziming and answered softly.
