Chapter 170: Be Responsible For Yourself

Su Wan had not expected Jiang Xuecheng to have this idea. He had no intention to allow her to stay the night at the hospital…

After repeated thoughts, Su Wan still felt uneasy about leaving. “I wish to go too. I can temporarily put my work aside.”

Su Wan wanted to watch over Lin Fei’er and see her wake up with her own eyes.

Upon hearing this, Mrs. Lin was grateful but aggrieved. She held Su Wan’s hand and insisted that she followed Jiang Xuecheng home.

“It’s not necessary. You’re a good girl and I know your heart is with Fei’er but we don’t know when Fei’er will be conscious. When she wakes up, we’ll be the first to inform you.”

Su Wan gaped helplessly and when Jiang Xuecheng darted her a cold look, she finally gave up fighting and agreed to go home with him.

Su Wan sat in the co-driver’s seat of the Koenigsegg Agera R and buried in her heart what seemed to be a dangerous time bomb which would explode anytime.

“Xuecheng, do you think Fei’er will forgive Li Peng?”

Although Su Wan did not go to Zhao Hua Hospital, Li Peng, as Lin Fei’er’s husband, went with Lin Fei’er’s parents.

When she thought of Mr. and Mrs. Lin’s uncertain attitude towards Li Peng, Su Wan knew that no matter how Uncle and Aunty Lin scolded Li Peng, they would still persuade Fei’er to forgive and accept Li Peng rather than divorce him.

However, if they did not divorce, would Lin Fei’er have a good life in the future?

Even though Li Peng had promised not to make the same mistake in the future, he had made many promises in the past but had he kept them?

Moreover, if Fei’er chose not to divorce, she would have to swallow her sorrows in the future.

She had to swallow the thorn of Li Peng messing around with Yang Xiaobing once, raise their baby as hers, and even endure her mother-in-law’s judgment.

Li Peng’s mother had said, “What’s the use of a woman who can’t bear a child?” and how cruel were such words to Lin Fei’er?

Jiang Xuecheng turned toward Su Wan and looked at her faintly. His voice was clear.

“Lin Fei’er is an adult. She will think carefully.”

Although Su Wan knew what Jiang Xuecheng said was true, she did not speak for a while but in the end, she couldn’t help but sigh. “I’m just afraid she can’t think carefully.”

While they were talking, Jiang Xuecheng had driven back to Fontainebleau.

Jiang Xuecheng stepped on the car brakes. He looked slightly serious and said, “We must always look forward. Everyone must be responsible for their own decision. I believe Lin Fei’er will become stronger after this incident.”

Su Wan nodded sullenly. “I know. This is a way we grow but it’s too painful.”

Jiang Xuecheng stood up. He turned around to caress Su Wan’s hair and unfastened her seat belt. “Let’s go, we have arrived home.”

After arriving at Fontainebleau, Su Wan took a bath immediately and returned to the bedroom silently. She hugged her pillow and spaced out.

Jiang Xuecheng walked into the bedroom in his black bathrobe. When he saw Su Wan sitting by the wall lamp, spacing out, he asked, “Are you still thinking about Lin Fei’er?”

Su Wan nodded. There was a thin layer of mist in her beautiful eyes and she let out a soft sigh.

“What happened today was like a dream. Li Peng seemed like an honest and loyal person. Who would have thought he could do such things?”

Then, Su Wan added, “Do you think men are all fickle in love?”

A light of helplessness flashed through Jiang Xuecheng’s dark eyes. He snatched the pillow from Su Wan and said, “Don’t drag your husband into this. Only those without strong will would sway.”

Su Wan pouted in embarrassment. “It’s my mistake.”

Jiang Xuecheng smiled and then used the towel to dry Su Wan’s wet hair.

“Don’t think about Lin Fei’er anymore. No one has the right to make decisions for her. She’ll definitely have her own considerations whether to divorce or otherwise.”

Su Wan nodded melancholically and forced a smile. “Mmhm, let’s turn in.”

After switching off the light, Su Wan lay down. Jiang Xuecheng whispered beside her ear, “Where’s tonight’s goodnight kiss?”

Su Wan placed a gentle kiss on Jiang Xuecheng’s forehead and quickly returned to her side of the bed.

However, Jiang Xuecheng moved over her shoulder and in the dark, he found Su Wan’s moist lips.

Su Wan frowned. She was in no mood for this after today’s incident.

Jiang Xuecheng hugged Su Wan’s back and tapped her lightly, as if telling her she was distracted.

Su Wan’s body trembled. She could only keep her eyes open and pray that Jiang Xuecheng would let go of her quickly.

Heaven knows, she had been tired of dealing with Jiang Xuecheng’s enthusiasm in this respect but today, she didn’t feel like it!

Su Wan’s prayer had probably worked because after lingering on Su Wan’s lips for a long time, Jiang Xuecheng finally parted his lips reluctantly.

Jiang Xuecheng’s voice was slightly hoarse. He caressed Su Wan’s cheeks and said, “I’ll let you off today since you aren’t in a good mood.”

Su Wan’s cheeks were warm. She found a comfortable position in Jiang Xuecheng’s embrace and finally fell asleep with Jiang Xuecheng.

Su Wan was not sure if it was because Jiang Xuecheng had deliberately disturbed her mood just before sleep that she did not have a nightmare like she had expected but she was thankful for the sweet sleep.

The next morning, when Su Wan woke up, she found that she was still enveloped in Jiang Xuecheng’s warm embrace.

He was still here!

Su Wan raised her brows in surprise. He would usually wake up earlier than she did.

“Don’t tell me you couldn’t sleep last night.”

Jiang Xuecheng was amused by Su Wan’s thoughts. He rubbed Su Wan’s still hazy eyes.

“What goes on all day long in your little brain? I was afraid you would have a nightmare last night. That’s why I watched over you.”

He knew Su Wan was especially sensitive toward car accidents. This time she had witnessed it personally. Jiang Xuecheng was afraid her phobia would worsen.

Su Wan had not expected Jiang Xuecheng to be so thoughtful…

Su Wan was touched and at the same time bashful. She couldn’t help smiling as she replied, “Thank you, Xuecheng. I didn’t dream last night and slept well.”

Just as she said this, she remembered Lin Fei’er and very quickly, she sighed. “I wonder how Fei’er is doing.”

Jiang Xuecheng wrapped his arms around Su Wan’s shoulders. His magnetic voice was low and it gave her a sense of security.

“She’ll be fine. Now that she has the best doctors in the country to see to her, what else are you afraid of? Ah Si just texted me saying Lin Fei’er’s condition has improved and that she should be able to wake up today at the earliest.”

“Really?”

Su Wan became more excited. After Jiang Xuecheng nodded, the gloom in her heart disappeared.
