Chapter 438: Not Taking Care Of His Own Body
When the lady boss of the flower shop heard what Jiang Xuecheng said, she took the initiative to step forward and opened the glass door for them.
“Thank you for your patronage. Please come again!”
Su Wan smiled and nodded at the lady boss. Then, she took Jiang Xuecheng’s hand and walked with him to the Koenigsegg Agera R outside.
Jiang Xuecheng took the big black umbrella that was placed at the door. He opened the umbrella and tilted it slightly to Su Wan’s side.
Su Wan saw the way Jiang Xuecheng held the umbrella and felt a faint warmth in her heart. She could not help but lean her head on Jiang Xuecheng’s shoulder.
Jiang Xuecheng opened the co-driver’s door of the Koenigsegg and waited for Su Wan to lean in completely. He slowly closed the car door and returned to the driver’s seat.
Soon, the car was like an zrrow leaving the bow, heading straight for Fontainebleau.
Ever since they came out of the flower shop, Jiang Xuecheng had not said a single word. Although Jiang Xuecheng was not a talkative person to begin with, Su Wan had been with Jiang Xuecheng for a long time, and she could still feel that there was something wrong with his mood.
Su Wan frowned. She glanced at Jiang Xuecheng’s big hand that was firmly controlling the steering wheel and could not help but ask.
“Xuecheng, what’s wrong? Is there something on your mind? Are you worried about finding the mastermind of the shooting?”
When Su Wan’s concerned words fell into his ears, Xuecheng was slightly stunned. His hand unconsciously tightened a little on the steering wheel.
There happened to be a red light ahead. Xuecheng slowed down and then stopped steadily with a quick brake.
“I hate rainy days, especially this kind of continuous rain.”
Ah?
When Su Wan heard this willful reason, her forehead could not help but twitch.
The original worry in her heart dissipated a little. She looked out of the window. The dusk was hazy, and the sparse raindrops condensed on the window. Everything was blurred.
Su Wan nodded thoughtfully, and a sense of disappointment surfaced in her heart.
It was as if after it rained for a long time, one’s heart could not help but become depressed.
“Indeed, I also prefer sunny days, but I heard that in a few days, a typhoon will be hitting S City.”
Jiang Xuecheng glanced at Su Wan’s clear almond-shaped eyes. He was startled, and his eyes became a bit dim.
“Yes, a typhoon is coming…”
Just as Su Wan and Jiang Xuecheng were lamenting, the green light in front of them had already lit up. Jiang Xuecheng quickly collected his thoughts, stepped on the accelerator, and quickly drove the Koenigsseg.
…
Because they had stayed in the rain for a whole afternoon, Su Wan and Jiang Xuecheng’s clothes were still wet when they returned to Fontainebleau.
When they pushed the door open, they found Aunty Fang was still there. She was cleaning the living room with a rag.
When Aunty Fang heard the sound of the door opening, she immediately raised her head and looked at Su Wan and Jiang Xuecheng. Then, she smiled and greeted them.
“Young master, young madam, you’re back.”
“Aunty Fang, where’s my grandfather?”
Su Wan smiled at Aunty Fang as she changed into a pair of slippers.
Aunty Fang put down the rag in her hand. She stretched out her right hand and pointed to the guest room upstairs.
“Professor Xie was still filling a little dizzy after drinking the ginger soup, so he went to sleep in the guest room upstairs.”
Su Wan nodded and looked at the guest room upstairs from a distance. “Thank you, Aunty Fang. You’ve worked hard for so long. You should go back first.”
“This is what I should do. I’ll leave first…”
Aunty Fang smiled and shook her head. Just as she was about to change her shoes, she looked at the rain-soaked clothes and hair of Su Wan and Jiang Xuecheng. She couldn’t help but frown.
“Young master, young madam, I have a lot of ginger soup in the kitchen. You can heat it up before you drink it. Then, go and change your clothes. Otherwise, you’ll catch a cold.”
“Yes, okay.”
Hearing Aunty Fang’s concerned words, Su Wan’s good impression of her deepened.
…
Su Wan and Jiang Xuecheng went to take a shower and then changed into clean clothes,
Jiang Xuecheng took a towel and gently and carefully helped Su Wan wipe her hair that was still wet.
“Grandfather… is he planning to go back to A City the next day? Won’t he stay a little longer?”
Su Wan was enjoying Jiang Xuecheng’s service and a trace of sadness flashed across her eyes.
“I also want him to stay a little longer, but Grandfather is stubborn and might not listen to me.”
As Su Wan spoke, an uncontrollable bitterness surfaced in her heart.
Grandfather had lived in A City for nearly twenty years and had long regarded it as his second hometown. In addition to the incident in S City, he probably felt that this place had become a place of sadness.
A place of sadness was a place of emotion. Therefore, Xie Changfeng would rather return to that empty house in A City and guard his manuscripts.
Jiang Xuecheng’s eyes fell on Su Wan, and a faint gentle light appeared in his eyes.
“Then let’s find a nanny for him. Grandfather lives alone in A City so it’s better to have one more person to take care of him.”
Hearing Jiang Xuecheng’s suggestion, Su Wan’s almond-shaped eyes suddenly lit up, and she took a light breath.
“Your idea is the same as mine! Well, I’m going to find another nanny for grandfather. If anything happens, it’s better that we can be informed immediately.”
After Su Wan and Jiang Xuecheng drank the ginger soup, their bodies, which had been exhausted for the whole day, soon felt tired.
The two of them hugged each other quietly, pulled the quilt over themselves, and fell asleep.
They heard that it would be a sunny day tomorrow, and they hoped that all would be better.
…
The next day, when Su Wan woke up, Jiang Xuecheng was no longer by her side.
Su Wan rubbed her sleepy eyes. Perhaps she was too tired, but she slept very soundly. When she woke up this morning, she felt particularly relaxed.
Su Wan lifted the blanket and changed into the clothes that she had prepared beforehand. She put on her shoes and went to the bathroom to wash up.
What surprised Su Wan was that before she went down the stairs, she saw Xie Changfeng sitting in the living room.
Xie Changfeng sat on the sofa with a lit cigarette in his hand. The curling smoke swirled gently at his fingertips. As he breathed in and out the smoke, it reflected on Xie Changfeng’s aged face, making it even more hazy.
Didn’t Grandfather give up smoking a long time ago?
Jiang Xue city didn’t smoke either. How could there be such a thing in Fontainebleau?!
Xie Changfeng was old. Smoking too much could easily damage his lungs and was very bad for his health.
How could grandfather not take care of his own body?
Su Wan suddenly frowned. She quickly walked down the stairs and directly ran toward Xie Changfeng.
“Grandfather, didn’t you promise grandmother to quit smoking? Why are you smoking again?”
Xie Changfeng heard Su Wan’s anxious voice and slowly raised his head. He stared at Su Wan and his voice was a little hoarse.
“Good morning, Wan.”
Su Wan was holding back her anger. Suddenly, she saw Xie Changfeng’s eyes were a little red. She suddenly felt as if someone had poured a bucket of ice water on her and cooled her down from head to toe.
Su Wan shivered. She retracted the words of admonishment that were on the tip of her tongue. She looked down and glanced at the thing in Xie Changfeng’s hand.
She realised that what she thought she saw from upstairs was a thick book was actually the photo album that she had left in the living room the day before yesterday.
The page that Xie Changfeng turned to happened to be a group photo.
There was Lin Xuan in it, as well as her parents who had passed away a long time ago…
