When Alden was growing up, Flint was in their lives almost every day.
Sometimes when his mom was busy, Uncle Flint would come over and send them to school. He would

you trying to do?”
“If you stay in Sea City, you’ll cause trouble Mom. She has to work and take care of me as well as Mel.
She has too much work to do.”
“I’m sorry, Alden…” Flint instantly expressed his guilt. “What happened tonight was an accident. I
guarantee that it won’t happen again! Alden, didn’t you call me ‘Dad’? Don’t worry,
I’ll take responsibility as a father and protect you!” “I called you ‘Dad’ because I really wanted you to be
our father. But Uncle Flint, you let me down.” Alden’s face still looked calm. “You’re not good for Mom,
so you’re not good to be our father. Please leave tomorrow morning.” Flint was totally stunned.
Although he had always talked about marrying Adina and wanting to be the children’s father, he and
Adina had always known that it was a joke. He never thought that Alden would take it seriously. If Alden
took it seriously, then Melody probably took it seriously too. That meant the kids had actually hoped to
become a family with him. But he messed it up.
Flint was totally sober now.
