He leaned over her and parted his mouth to bite the woman’s lips. Adina turned her head away.
“Don’t kiss me.”
“Why? Doyou find me disgusting ?” Earl turned her face to him.
“Adina, the more you hate my actions, the more I want to do things that sicken you.Because only with
this would I remain more stubbornly etched in your head, and you would stop thinking about leavingmy
side all the time.” Adina glared at him.
“You're letting Duke down by doing this!”
“A dead man is a dead man.So, what if I'm not worthy?” Earl said indifferently, “Now is not the time to
bring up the dead.” Adina lowered her gaze.It seemed that Earl was completely unaware of Duke being
alive. She could use this to cause a huge stir…
As she pondered this, Earl lowered his head to hers.
When he was just a centimeter away from kissing her neck, the balcony suddenly flung open.
The chilly night air billowed in, causing the man, who leaned over Adina, to raise his head.
Earl's gloomy eyes looked towards the window only to find a man with a golden mask walk into the
room from the balcony.
'Gold mask and black cape, and close to Hestia Border....' Earl was from such a place, so he
immediately guess who this person donning the golden mask and black cape must be.
"Save me, Terry North!” Adina cried for help as she hurriedly put on her coat.
Duke walked inside; his gaze was like ice.He had pushed open the balcony window and entered the
room to find this man lying atop Adina. He was filled with rage. His first thought was that he had been
betrayed.
But when he heard Adina's cry for help, he understood that someone was trying to get their hands on
his woman. He drew the gun from his waist.
Before Earl could even react, he shot a bullet from his silenced gun aiming for Earl’s right wrist.
Adina could smell the blood.
“Very well!” Earl was shot in his right hand, and he could not pull out his gun.
But he grinned savagely.
“Aren't you amazing , Adina Daugherty ? To think you could seduce the leader of a gang.
Heh! I underestimated you…but just you wait!”
In one leap, Earl had jumped down from the second – floor balcony and disappeared into the night.
The smell of gunpowder and blood still permeated the house.
Adina buttoned up her clothes quickly.
“Luckily you arrived just in time...”
'I can't imagine what would have happened if you hadn’t.
‘ She did not say that out loud. She most certainly would never let Earl have his way, but if they ended
up fighting because of it, they would both suffer...It did not matter if she got injured. She was only
worried for the children.
Adina raised her head to see Duke make a strange face. She turned around to turn on the bedroom
lights.
The golden mask shone brilliantly under the light.
Duke lifted his hand to take off the mask.He pursed his lips.
“That man looked familiar.” Adina looked up at him.
