He realized that he was still holding Adina’s fingertips. At this time, the passive woman had become

proactive, as she held his index finger.

He moved a little, and she held his finger more tightly.

The feeling of being needed and relied on made Earl feel happier than he ever felt before.

He sat by the bed, answered the call, and softly asked, “What‘s the matter?”

“Boss, we found that the young masters and lady were taken abroad by Flint, the young master of

Morton Corporation. Their destination is the small town where the madam used to live for four years.”

“Get a few people to follow them,” Earl said coldly. “Keep an eye on them at all times.”

As soon as he spoke, he felt the hand around his finger loosen.

When he looked down, he saw that the woman was staring at him with indifferent and emotionless eyes.

He suddenly felt guilty, so he raised his hand and hung up.

“Who were you… talking to on the phone?”

Adina spoke, and her voice was extremely hoarse. It sounded like she had squeezed the sentence out of

her throat.

Earl pursed his lips uncomfortably. “It was a call from my assistant.”

“Did you ask them to tail the kids?” Adina stared at him and slowly said, “Yes, I sent the kids away on

purpose.”

Earl narrowed his eyes, and they were full of vigilance. “Why?”

“Don‘t you know why I‘m doing this?!” she yelled, her voice becoming hoarser. “It‘s only been a month

since we got married, but you‘ve had an affair. A marriage like that won’t last long. Instead of arguing

over custody of the children, why don‘t... I just hide them in advance? Yes, I‘m a despicable person.

Duke Winters, that‘s how despicable I am! I went through pain to give birth to the kids, so I won‘t let you

take them!”

She immediately sat up and pulled the needle off the back of her hand.

Blood instantly burst out, and Earl‘s white shirt was stained in red.

He frowned and pinned her down. “Are you mad? When did I agree to a divorce? When did I try to

compete for custody against you? Stop being paranoid!”

“You‘re just going to steal the kids from me!” Adina shook her head hastily, but her face was pale and

weak. “Dew Daugherty wanted to steal George and Harold, but you‘re worse than her. You even want to

snatch Mel and Alden from me. You married me because you wanted to have our four kids, right? Duke

Winters, I’m telling you that unless you step over my dead body, I‘ll never give them to you!”

“Calm down!”

Earl was shocked when he saw the blood gushing out of the back of her hand.

Had this woman not always been very calm and aloof? Why would she lose her mind like this when it

came to the kids?

“I‘m just asking my people to secretly protect the kids. I‘m not fighting against you for custody.” Earl

pressed her shoulders and said, “Lie down first. I‘ll ask the nurse to treat your wound.”

“No, no!” Adina widened her eyes and shook her head hard.” You‘re lying! You‘re making a fool out of

me! It’s just like how Dew Daugherty lied to me about George and Harold‘s death. All of you are lying to

me.”

She rolled down from the bed and tried to run out.

But Earl pulled her into his arms. “Addy, I‘ve never thought about stealing the children from you. Tell me

what to do so that you‘ll believe me.”

“Call your assistant in front of me and tell him not to send anyone to follow the kids!” Adina grabbed his

collar and slowly said, “If you dare to send anyone to follow the kids, I‘ll die right in front of you this

instant!”

Earl frowned.

He had asked Arden to get some people to follow the kids because he thought Adina had discovered his

identity and wanted to hide the kids.

However, this woman had clearly sent the kids abroad because she was just afraid of a divorce and a

fight for custody.

As long as his identity was not revealed , he could turn a blind eye to many things.

“Okay, I‘ll call Arden.”

Earl compromised as he took out his phone and made the call.

Adina looked down slightly. Her jaw tightened as though she would not have lasted if things had dragged

on a little longer.
