Chapter 701
The two were still engaged in conversation when all of a sudden, Colton's phone began to ring. He gave the screen
a quick glance and saw that the call was coming from a friend who worked at the police station. Curious, he
answered the phone.
"Mr. Gardner, we have received a report on Nicole Anderson and Gardner Corporation's indiscriminate killing of
innocent people. Since we have no definite evidence yet, someone will come to your house and notify you about it,"
the man said.
Indiscriminate killing? This is getting even more ridiculous as time goes on!
"What happened?"
The man explained, "Norman Clancy was previously detained in the country due to Gardner Corporation, but he
died in prison for no justifiable reason. Some speculated that Gardner Corporation conspired with Nicole, and

Norman's wife and children were murdered because they had kidnapped Nicole's son, so Gardner Corporation
should also be considered a suspect in this case."
"Who is the informant?" Colton lowered his voice and questioned. Who was that bold person who dared to drag
Gardner Corporation down?
"Norman's apprentice, Noah Bennett."
"Okay. I got it." Colton hung up the phone directly after getting the information he needed.
Noticing something wrong with his expression, Nicole raised her head and asked, "What's wrong?"
He put down his phone and looked at her. It seemed that things were not going to be easy this time.
"Norman's apprentice, Noah Bennett, reported that Gardner Corporation is an accomplice for murdering the four
members of the Clancy Family together with you."
Noah Bennett? Hearing that name, she couldn't help furrowing her brows.
He had been Norman's apprentice before she became White's apprentice. Noah was a rigid person who acted

most, but Noah was not afraid of power and status, so he didn't care about offending Gardner Corporation. Taking
the chance, he reported them altogether.
Nicole found it quite amusing. She couldn't believe what a hard headed man Noah was. If Colton was bossy, she
was afraid that Noah would live a hard life from now on.
"Noah is headstrong. He probably went to the police station because of the comments on the Internet and the
instigation of others." She further explained that she didn't see him very often. She only met him while she was in
the hospital, and they only exchanged greetings because they were not close.
Colton didn't bother to care. If someone dared to accuse him of something he didn't do, he would make that person
pay the price!
"Be prepared. The police will come shortly, not to file the case, but to inform us about the situation," Colton
informed her.

Nicole nodded and went to get ready. After all, she was on the cusp of a storm, and if she was taken to the police
station, many eyes would be drawn to her. Once she was ready to head out, she noticed two uniformed men
standing in the house.
Colton stood in between and seemingly talked to them. When he noticed she came out, he stopped talking, turned
around, and stretched out his hand to hold her hand while introducing, "This is my wife, Nicole." His baritone voice
sounded a little sultry.
She couldn't help feeling her heart thump faster while she blushed slightly, wondering what nonsense that b*stard
was talking about!
In the instant before she could refute, he placed his hands on her shoulders and held her down as if trying to stop
her from saying something. She appeared to have read his cue as she glared at him without letting a word slip out
of her tongue.
The police glanced at Nicole and nodded.
After gandering at the police and Colton, she inquired, "Do I have to go now?"
Colton smiled with a nod. "Yeah. Don't worry. I won't let anything happen to you, darling."
She couldn't stop blushing from how he called her 'darling.' It felt like she was a teenager again who easily felt
bashful like a deer caught in the headlights.
