Chapter 447 – Confession

“Stop dawdling. Let’s all leave before the police arrives.” As expected of Tang Jiang who had a lot of experience in these matters.

He also urged everyone else to leave to avoid being questioned by the police. Shu Zhe raised both his arms in support if it meant he could quickly leave this sketchy area.

The class leader was depressed since her goal was to become a police, yet she had to avoid the police with us.

“It was clearly legitimate self-defense. We can testify against them and get them locked up.”

The class leader hatefully looked at Zhao GuangTou who was on the ground.

Shu Zhe pulled on his sister’s hand, “I don’t want to go to the police station, and you shouldn’t go either. They are all thugs, so if you testify, it will be bad.”

“That doesn’t matter.”

Shu Zhe was finally able to convince the class leader to go home after saying he won’t have anything to eat tomorrow morning if she stays at the station to testify.

Tang Jiang’s home was close by and he wasn’t really acquainted with us, so he left first. Before he left, he pointed at me and said:

“Ye Lin, my bro told me not to bother you anymore, so let’s let bygones be bygones. But you guys owe me for today, so you have to tell me one day where Xiao Hong is.”

I gave a meaningful look to Shu Zhe who was next to me and said: “She’s actually not hard to find. She might seem far away, but in reality she’s very close. You will meet again given the chance.”

Tang Jiang returned home dissatisfied.

I was originally planning on bringing Li CunZhuang to a hospital and I even wanted to give Peng TouSi a call, so he could hire a good doctor to give a checkup. But Li Cun Zhuang said he was fine and he could recover with a few days of sleep since he got even worse injuries from fights when he was a child.

Li CunZhuang was more concerned about Shu Sha’s safety and asked me to bring her home.

“My… my injuries aren’t bad, but I’m tired and can’t fight anymore. But you’re not tired, so bring Shu Sha home, okay?”

I intentionally lowered my speed to walk behind the class leader and Shu Zhe with Li CunZhuang. It seems the class leader also understood we needed some space to talk.

“It’s my fault Shu Sha was attacked.” I admitted, “The ones you beat earlier were my enemies. Due to certain coincidences, they thought I have a special relationship with Shu Sha. Anyway, I’ll take responsibility and make sure to protect Shu Sha.”

“You… you are a friend.”

There was a hair-raising feeling as you heard Li CunZhuang say those words with his unintelligent eyes.

I patted his shoulder again.

“Alright, if you don’t mind, you can treat me as a friend. Zhuang Zi, you’re also my friend.”

Li CunZhuang’s face looked like one of Picasso’s abstract art due to his injuries, but I wouldn’t laugh at him because of that.

“Then… then, Ye Zi, you wouldn’t you anymore tricks to trip me anymore, right?”

The tricks he referred to was Yin Yang Sanshou. It seems he calls me ‘Ye Zi’ because I call him ‘Zhuang Zi’ and that’s probably what he thinks friends call each other.

“Yeah, don’t worry, friends don’t fight.”

I once again urged Li CunZhuang to head to a hospital, but he doesn’t take back his words and refused to go.

I could only enter my number in to his phone and tell him to contact me if he was in trouble.

“Friends have to help each other.” I said, “I’ll be angry if you didn’t look for me when you’re in trouble.”

Li CunZhuang nodded as if he was still in fear of the power of Yin Yang Sanshou.

I then asked for him address so I could visit him at home. I thought he would be lonely when recuperating by himself at home.

Since everyone believed Li CunZhuang was dim-witted and quick to anger, I don’t think anyone else has the guts to be his friend.

People probably avoid him more than me.

I felt a sense of responsibility once I thought that I may be his only friend.

Li CunZhuang then suddenly said: “A… a lot of people like Shu Sha.”

Although it wasn’t deliberate, the class leader’s acute hearing was able to catch his words. She walked faster while pulling on Shu Zhe out of embarrassment and tried to widen the distance between us.

“That’s right.” I lowered my voice, “I also like her, she has plenty of cute points.”

As I expected, Li CunZhuang had no intention of treating me as a love rival, but instead viewed me as a comrade.

“I… I heard you protected Shu Sha many times. Good job, you’re my good friend.”

I suddenly felt a sad feeling inside.

“Zhuang Zi, how long do you plan on protecting Shu Sha? Until she gets married?”

Li CunZhuang didn’t reply, but said:

“A… a good girl like Shu Sha will definitely marry an exceptionally outstanding person in the future, otherwise I wouldn’t be able to relax.”

Exceptionally outstanding? Do I fit that criteria?

Li CunZhuang patted my shoulder, “Ye Zi, don’t worry. Becoming exceptionally outstanding is something that Shu Sha’s future partner has to worry about, it has nothing to do with us.”

“What?”

“People as ugly as the two of us should be satisfied watching Shu Sha from afar, right?”

Right… my ass! So it was because you thought the two of us looked the same! At least I have titles like killer or last boss… did you easily become friends with me because you also think I’m ugly? Damn it, even though a man’s worth isn’t determined by his appearance, I’m still a bit bothered.

“Here… here is my house.”

Li CunZhuang said to me, then the class leader stopped and turned around.

“Li CunZhuang, I want to thank you for today.” the class leader once again expressed her thanks, “If it wasn’t for you, who knows what would have happened… I’ll bring my brother along to visit another day to express our thanks.”

Shu Zhe frowned and didn’t look too happy when he heard he had to visit Li CunZhuang’s house.

Li CunZhuang scratched his head in embarrassment after being thanked.

“Can… can you also call me Zhuang Zi?” Li CunZhuang asked the class leader, “Friends call me Zhuang Zi, will you be my friend?”

“I will.” Shu Sha nodded, “Zhuang Zi, get some rest. I’ll visit you later.”

Li CunZhuang had a simple and honest laugh. He might be ugly, but he still had a bright smile on his face.

“Ye… Ye Zi will take you home. Ye Zi is my friend and I feel relieved if he takes you home.”

The class leader and I looked at each other, but neither of us said anything.

Li CunZhuang then added: ” Ye… Ye Zi told me he also likes you, hehe.”

It was like the class leader consumed some chemicals as her white face instantly turned red. It was like her blood was about to boil and steam was going to rise from her head.

Shu Zhe, on the other hand, looked at me and then her sister with a ‘I knew it’ expression.

Zhuang Zi really likes to blab. Are you confessing for me? I can’t tell if he’s a great friend or an awful friend.

Li CunZhuang, who couldn’t read the mood, didn’t realize his words caused friction between me and the class leader. He waved goodbye and left.

To break the awkwardness, I tried to speak naturally: “Class leader…”

The class leader nervously trembled, “Wha- what?”

“I wanted to ask how you’re planning on heading home. Are you calling a cab?”

Before the class leader answered, Shu Zhe had already stuck out his hands and called a cab.

I’m not sure if I was influenced by Li CunZhuang, but I opened the door like a gentleman and let the class leader get in the back first. I thought about sitting in the back with her.

“You… sit at the front.” The class leader commanded angrily.

Shu Zhe poked me from behind with his elbow, “That’s right, whoever sits in the front pays. So, bro Ye Lin, you sit in the front.”

The class leader didn’t say anything the entire ride. She was holding her chin and looking out the windows at the passing lights for the whole ride.

After we arrived, the class leader didn’t offer to pay. But I know it wasn’t because she was cheap, but because she didn’t want to talk to me.

But when Shu Zhe began walking to their unit he asked: “Did bro Ye Lin call Tang Jiang to help?”

I smiled: “I guess, but he came because of you.”

The class leader furrowed her brows, “Xiao Zhe, where did you meet someone like that?”

Even though Tang Jiang was one of the guys who helped, he still hasn’t gotten rid of his thug aura. He also kept persistently asking the class leader if she had a sister which gave her a bad impression of him.

Shu Zhe grimaced, “Him… bro Ye Lin is just joking, he’s clearly one of bro Ye Lin’s friends based on how he handles a brick…”

The class leader thought I was still involved with the wrong people after she heard Shu Zhe, so she glared at me in disapproval.

But she still didn’t say anything to me.

I escorted the class leader and her brother up to the fifth floor since I was afraid of ambushes in the stairway. I only relaxed when the class leader opened their door and opened the lights.

I had already planned to leave, but when I looked back the class leader still had a slightly red face and I wasn’t sure if she was angry or worried.

Then the door closed and almost hit my nose.

I heard Shu Zhe’s voice: “Sis, why didn’t you let bro Ye Lin come in for a bit?”

The class leader hesitated then said: “Not today.”

I wanted to stay a bit to eavesdrop, but it felt like the class leader looked through the peephole to see if I left. I reluctantly walked down the stairs in order to not make a fool of myself.
