Chapter 533
In the end, Dilan decided to learn the Old Librarian's Essence Cultivation technique.
It was the Old Librarian's Legacy and his most prized possession when he had still been alive. Before he separated a Fragment of his Soul to deploy it inside the City of Trials, the Old Librarian had altered the technique to allow any Ascender to reach the fourth Tier as long as they practiced the Essence Cultivation technique.
Every Ascender's talent was different, meaning that an Ascender with great talent might advance to the fourth Tier within a single year, while an Ascender with the worst talent wouldn't even be able to reach the first Tier in the same duration.
But despite all of that, the Essence Cultivation technique allowed one to follow a different path to advance in the Tiers rather than the endless killing that had been a pre-requirement to become truly powerful.
And that was why Dilan was so astounded at the sight of the actual Perfect Essence Cultivation technique. It had been honed for more than a thousand years by the Old Librarian, and he wanted Dilan to become the technique's Successor!
Of course, Dilan agreed. There was no reason for him to disagree with getting his hand on another means of increasing his strength. The Perfect Essence Cultivation technique would allow him to compress his essence, gain a stronger body and mind and accumulate Essence in a different way than by mindlessly killing monsters all around him.
Dilan was not sure when he would return to Milarn, but by teaching the Perfect Essence Cultivation technique to his family and friends it would be possible for him to make sure that everyone he cared for would become stronger without the need to face countless dangers.
Milarn was bound to become troublesome, and Dilan could get ready to tackle this trouble with the use of the Essence Cultivation technique. As long as everyone increased their strength that would enable them to leave a hideout, everything would be fine!
"I am so happy now that I know that my life's work won't disappear…." The Old Librarian spoke with moist eyes, and Dilan smiled in response. However, his expression quickly changed when he saw that the Old Librarian was tensing up.
"Oho, look who is there? The snail has finally crawled out of his shell!!" A massive Ascender seemed to appear out of the shadows in between Dilan and the Old Librarian.
Dilan jumped several meters to the right while the Old Librarian just remained standing where he was.
"What do you want, Cedric?" The Old Librarian asked, his gray eyes glowing dangerously.
"Argggghh, I am soooo scareeed. Don't attack meee," The huge shadow, called Cedric, teased the Old Librarian, who began to frown deeply.
Dilan merely stared at them both with furrowed eyebrows, feeling pretty sure that the huge shadow was a piece of shit.
"Old Man…is there someone with a better movement technique than this shadow step thingy we've just seen?" He asked, attracting the attention of the Old Librarian and Cedric.
Cedric's ruby eyes began to glow at the sight of Dilan and he ignored the Old Librarian at once.
"Lord Undying, I didn't know that you would be visiting us so soon already. Would you be willing to watch the demonstration of my Thousand Shadow Clones Steps movement technique? I studied and refined the technique to its peak and if you're compatible with the technique, I would be more than willing to hand over my Legacy to you!" Cedric's attitude changed completely all of a sudden.
However, that was actually something Dilan had expected ever since he had encountered the Old Librarian. The City of Trials might have been created with the thought of preparing the chosen ones to greatness but he was pretty sure that none of the Soul Shards expected the Undying and the Eternal Darkness to take so long to arrive!
Dilan may not know the exact duration for which the Soul Shards had waited but it was bound to be a very long time!
"How about you stop obstructing my sight?" Dilan asked coldly, his sky blue eyes staring straight into Cedric's eyes, the Shadow Demon God.
"Eh…okay…" Cedric moved aside before he realized it. It had been an eternity since he had been treated like a nobody and he was too baffled to understand what was going on before it had already happened.
"Old man, are you not going to answer?" Dilan asked the Old Librarian, who seemed to have lost his whole confidence and composure upon Cedric's arrival.
"Huh? What did you ask? I…didn't really…" The Old Man's demeanor changed completely. The joyful expression that had covered his face not even five minutes earlier had disappeared. It was almost as if he had never smiled in his entire life.
"I asked if his Thousand Shadow Clones Steps movement technique is the strongest one in the City of Trials?" Dilan repeated his question, and the Old Librarian couldn't help but look at Cedric for a moment before he shook his head lightly.
"Even if it would have been the strongest technique, it's not very suitable for you. The Oracle shared your physical report to the consciousness of all the Soul Shards a very long time ago. If they studied you even just a little bit, one would be able to tell that you're the most suited for Destruction, Lightning, the four Basic Elements and basically everything related to Regeneration and the possession of an Undying Body and Soul.
That being said, I can tell you that every movement technique BUT Cedric's is useful for you. Though there is a technique I would recommend you, Instructors are not allowed to recommend the techniques of other Instructors.
You are supposed to make your own decision. I am only allowed to answer your questions, and not all of them as well!" The Old Librarian gave Dilan a detailed answer which was surprising enough for him.
He was of the same opinion as his new, yet somewhat old friend and nodded his head.
"I'm sorry, Cedric, but you might have more luck once Eternal Darkness arrives. His name sounds as if you guys will hit it off the moment you guys meet!" Dilan chuckled as he took a step toward the Old Librarian and went off to the training grounds.
Cedric looked behind them but he couldn't move. Something prevented him from doing anything even though his raging emotions told him to tear the Old Librarian apart.
The ruby color of his eyes began to spread in vein-like patterns through his shadow.

"This fucking bullshit…" Cedric cursed out but he paid heed to the warning that had appeared in his mind.
He didn't want to mess up his chance of giving his Movement technique to someone else…after all, his technique was special, providing him a unique chance…to reincarnate!
That was something many True Gods were working toward. The entire reason for them to cut a fragment of their Soul out of their living body was to make sure that they had the chance to reincarnate when the time would come.
Yet, the Undying did not even bother paying any attention to him.
'Do I really have to go to Eternal Darkness?'
