Double Standards
After hearing what Theresa had to say, Roderick nodded and help Charlie together with Jonathan,
heading upstairs.
When Theresa entered her room, she saw them help Charlie lie on the bed.
Brenda said, “I’m going to make some Prairie Oyster for him.”
Theresa nodded. “Thank you, Brenda.”
Jonathan was taking care of Charlie.
Roderick walked up and looked at Theresa. “I’ve heard you are going to marry Dick. Is that true?
Charlie is very sad. He drank all night.”
Theresa looked at the man on the bed and responded with a smile, “Charlie and I have broken up.
Roderick smiled and said, “I know. I don’t mean to persuade you to get back together with Charlie. I just
think… it is necessary to tell you. Theresa, if you really love Dick, I hope you will be happy. But… I
hope. you won’t stand on Dick’s side and hurt Charlie. You know how much Charlie cares about you.
Everything you do could make him sadder.”
If Roderick had told Charlie earlier about the children, so many things wouldn’t have happened.
At that time, Roderick just respected Theresa and didn’t want to interfere too much in their affairs.

Roderick couldn’t bear to see Theresa hurt Charlie anymore.

Brenda and Jonathan were taking care of Charlie. Theresa didn’t stay to watch them. Instead, she went
to the room of Leonard and Ben.
The two kids were about to go to bed after taking a shower.
Both of them lying on the bed. Ben sat at the head of the bed, with an iPad in his hand. Theresa asked,
“What are you doing?”
“I’m texting my dad,” answered Ben.
Theresa looked at the little boy and felt a little embarrassed. “Well, he’s drunk. He can’t check your
message. Just go to bed.”
“Is Dad here?” Ben asked curiously.
Theresa nodded. “Yeah, he’s next door.”
“Then I’ll go to see him.” After saying that, Ben turned over and got out of bed.
Theresa didn’t stop him. Instead, she sat next to Leonard and began to tell him stories.
Leonard, who was sitting next to Theresa, looked at her with his eyes wide open. In his opinion, he was
old enough to read by himself and Theresa didn’t have to tell stories. Although the boy was only four
years old, he was good at reading and knew a lot of words.
But he still liked to stay with Theresa like this.
When Leonard was about to fall asleep while listening to Theresa’s whisper, Ben rushed in and went
back
to bed.
Seeing that Charlie was sleeping soundly, Ben couldn’t do anything but come back to sleep after
showing his concern.
Theresa asked, “Did you see your dad?”
Ben said, “He’s drunk and needs a rest. I’m going to see him tomorrow morning.”
Leonard said in disgust, “Why do they all like to drink? I hate those people. They stink.”
Hearing Leonard’s words, Theresa coughed. Remembering that she had been drunk before, she said
with shame, “All right. I won’t drink anymore.”
Theresa seldom drank.
But she had been drunk before.
At the thought of it, she felt embarrassed in front of the two kids.
Hearing Theresa’s, Leonard responded softly, “Mom, I’m not referring to you. I’m talking about
someone
else.”
The boy really had double standards.
Theresa looked at the little boy and said, “Leonard, you’re so lovely. Come on. Let me kiss you.”
Leonard leaned over and raised his face.
Theresa lowered her head and kissed him on the cheek. “Good boy!”
