Chapter 107: A Stunner

He Wei, who already stood up and buttoned his coat, paused before turning his head around, “I understand. Take some documents from Xu Qin when you leave. It’s the new endorsements that I handpicked. Choose any one that you like.”
“Okay. Take care, Brother Wei,” Yun Xiangxiang waved at He Wei.
She rummaged around for her phone and called Song Qian after He Wei had left. She asked her how long it would take for her to come back, to which she replied that she would need one hour. When she heard that, Yun Xiangxiang asked Coco to take the documents from Xu Qin first.
The endorsements were either from companies that made home electronics or food products; just like what He Wei said.
The food products included cakes, biscuits, chips, and some kind of beverage.
The home electronics had fridges and kitchen hoods.
“Coco, have someone find out the background of the fridge and kitchen hoods of these two companies,” Yun Xiangxiang requested from Coco. “Get one of each snack on here. The cake seems to be a new product. Find a way to get in touch with the person in charge and ask for a box of it.”
“What are you doing this for, Xiangxiang?” Even though Coco had noted down what Yun Xiangxiang said, she wasn’t sure about her intentions.
Yun Xiangxiang already had her phone out and started searching for the company, brand, and the related news about the fridge and kitchen hood. She even glossed through the user reviews from the official website and the community reviews about the brand online.
“Understanding them.”
“Understanding?” Coco was still confused.
Yun Xiangxiang raised her head, “If I am to be a spokesperson, of course I need to get to know about the products I’ll be endorsing. What kind of functions they have; whether they’re user friendly or not; whether their company has any record of disguising shoddy items as quality ones; whether they have any record of cutting corners. I need to live up to my endorsements.”
Coco widened her eyes in disbelief, “Does the spokesperson need to do this?”
“How do you define a spokesperson?” Yun Xiangxiang replied with a question after she put her phone down. “What does it mean to be a spokesperson?”
“A spokesperson is someone famous who appears in ads for a product.”
Coco gave a bureaucratic response, “Being a spokesperson means that the product is using their influence and appeal to raise the product’s reputation. The end result is to increase the product’s sales which will in turn increase profits.”
“Exactly. If I’m endorsing it, that means my fans will pay even more attention to these products. They’re my adoring fans. It will be irresponsible of me if I present a lacklustre product to them.”
“Even so, they should take that to the manufacturer…”
Of course, things like these weren’t impossible. But actors would endorse a huge amount of products. And how many people would use them? Even if the fans found out that the products weren’t exactly incredible after they bought it, they wouldn’t blame the spokesperson. They weren’t the ones who manufactured the products.
The actor was only in charge of promoting the product and taking their pay.
“I think that such an action is being irresponsible.”
“I can’t control everyone else. However, I must use the products that I’ll be endorsing myself. And I must feel that they’re worth promoting. I can recommend great products for free; I won’t endorse those that I think are shoddy, not for any price,” Yun Xiangxiang told Coco sternly.
This wasn’t a spokesperson’s job. Nor would it appear in the contract. It was Yun Xiangxiang’s own insistence.
She was crystal clear about the fact that she would lose a lot of endorsement opportunities over this.
But she hoped that every cent of money that she earned would do right by her conscience.
Good meant good; bad meant bad. She had to say sorry to those who wanted her to say anything that went against her principles. She wouldn’t be able to do it!
Coco stood up straighter in respect when Yun Xiangxiang was chiding her. She suddenly felt that following her was something to be proud of. She immediately went to handle this matter.
Yun Xiangxiang screenshotted all the news pieces she read after an hour of browsing.
But she wouldn’t just listen to a side of the story online either. There were too many keyboard warriors there; not to mention that there were attacks from competitors.
She would verify them one by one. She would pick a simple one if they would be too much of a hassle.
Yun Xiangxiang only went down after she got Song Qian’s call to notify her about her arrival. She noticed that something was off the moment she got out of the lift.
She saw someone ambling into the lobby once she raised her gaze.
Her figure was curvy; she stood around five foot seven and donned a pair of white culottes that stretched to her waist. The pair of five centimeter white leather pumps she wore made her long, slender legs the center of attraction. Her top was a caped coat with gray and white interspersing each other. The ruffled neckline was especially eye-catching.
Her wine colored hair was tied up in a bun. A pair of heart-shaped tassel diamond earrings decorated her ears. A delicate bag that was adorned with sequin dangled from her hand. She didn’t need to force anything to have her six feet quality to shine through [1]. The receptionists and staff at the lobby treated her with reverence.
Standard oval face; slanted, charming eyes. Every expression was enough to topple a nation.
“Looks like I came back just in time. I just came into the company, and I already bump into the little princess,” Her voice was melodiously moving.
“Sister Man,” Yun Xiangxiang greeted her first.
The woman who came in was Huan Yu Century Entertainment’s one and only SS Class actress – Li Man.
She met Li Man before in her previous life as Hua Xiangrong. They were just acquaintances. Li Man was an unreachable target. She almost never greeted anyone first.
Li Man called her ‘little princess’ on Weibo earlier too. Yun Xiangxiang thought that she called her out of respect for the company.
Li Man circled her once. She sized her up and kept on nodding. Finally she said clearly, “Gorgeous!”
“Sister Man is gorgeous too,” Yun Xiangxiang replied politely.
“No ingratiating; enough confidence. I like it,” Li Man praised. She unzipped her wallet and rummaged through it. She finally pulled a keychain out, “A gift for our first meeting.”
Yun Xiangxiang noticed that the keychain was fully embedded with diamonds. A ruby the size of a small thumb sat in its center.
“A gentleman does not reave someone of their love…”
“I know you’re a top student. Don’t play semantics with me,” Li Man grasped Yun Xiangxiang’s hand before she could finish and stuffed the keychain into her hand. “Okay, your big sister’s agent is pestering my soul. I can’t admire a beauty now. Ask this big sister out for fun some other day.”
Li Man winked at her amorously after she said that and sauntered away.
Yun Xiangxiang would admit nothing about this stunner’s eyes being electrifying!
Just that one wink could have men feeling their whole body’s bones undulating.
She lowered her head to look at the keychain that was sleeping in her hand. She turned her head and saw Li Man already entering the lift with a few bodyguards. It would be impolite to chase after her now. She could only accept it reluctantly.
She wasn’t sure how much this keychain cost. Accepting gifts was easy. Sending one in return wasn’t.
Li Man was different to Xue Yu. He was her senior under the same agent; Li Man could only be counted as her senior within the same company.
“Why the long face?” Song Qian couldn’t help but feel curious when she saw Yun Xiangxiang looking so down.
“I can hear my wallet weeping in the storm,” answered Yun Xiangxiang.
Song Qian and Coco couldn’t hold their giggles in when they heard that.
“Wanna go home?” Song Qian asked.
“No. Find a good cake shop. We’ll buy a birthday cake,” Yun Xiangxiang said at one. “Today is Ai Li’s birthday.”
Song Qian was stunned. She didn’t expect Yun Xiangxiang to remember this
