Chapter 423: I Used up All My Luck in Meeting Her
Chang Yuan became more obsessed, and she ended up insisting on trying to win big every round. When she noticed this, Yun Xiangxiang wanted to follow her by creating hands that would net a big score since she wanted to lose a few rounds and end this.
But she wouldn’t deign to take Yun Xiangxiang’s tile even when it could make her win big, so Yun Xiangxiang gave up on a self-draw win to not make any winning hands anymore, for she thought there was no need to make things awkward.
But fate loved to jest with her. In order to not win, Yun Xiangxiang tried to get a big scoring hand on purpose. Under the circumstance where only one player would play a character tile for sure, she went to a character pure hand and managed to make a seven pair, but it was a dead wall, where the tile that could give her the win was flipped by Chang Yuan, which meant she had to play that tile.
In the end, Shi Youxuan and Tang Suran had won, and when Yun Xiangxiang played the last tile, she thought Chang Yuan would take it.
But Chang Yuan wanted to make a pure hand, so the character tile was taken by Yun Xiangxiang. Even so, Chang Yuan didn’t declare the tile she needed to win.
At the end of the game, the player who didn’t make any declarations would have to pay the highest multiplier to the player who made the declaration but who didn’t win it.
A seven pair was a six-round scorer, so it was another a hundred and sixty thousand.
“Another round!” Chang Yuan’s eyes were turning red.
Yun Xiangxiang was exhausted. She didn’t want to play anymore, but she had no right to quit after she had won two million.
But no matter how she played, she would manage to be short of one tile from winning. She couldn’t keep the tile she needed, or else it would just be as insulting as telling Chang Yuan that she would give her the money back.
Yun Xiangxiang didn’t mind insulting her this way if Chang Yuan was a sore loser, but the problem was that she refused to admit defeat rather than being a sore loser.
Yun Xiangxiang was in a dilemma, for Chang Yuan refused to take her tile, even if it was the one she needed to win.
She knew what Chang Yuan was trying to do. The lady tried to win Yun Xiangxiang through her skills, but she didn’t have that luck.
In less than two hours, Yun Xiangxiang had won five million yuan.
It was fortunate they didn’t bet ten thousand on this, or she would have won ten million yuan by now.
Tang Suran and Shi Youxuan didn’t lose much, but since Chang Yuan was going against Yun Xiangxiang, she lost the most.
Shi Youxuan wanted to speak up a few times, but she swallowed it without saying anything. Now she only hoped mealtime would come quicker.
“I’ll go to the bathroom for a bit. Shall I get someone to play in my place?” Left with no choice, Yun Xiangxiang used this excuse.
“Go ahead. We’ll wait.” Chang Yuan refused to have someone play in Yun Xiangxiang’s place.
Yun Xiangxiang went to the bathroom and called Song Mian when she was in there.
“I’m just a hop and a skip away, so why the call?” Song Mian sounded amused.
“I bumped into some trouble.” Frustrated, she told him about the events that had transpired.
“Your luck is too great, babe. Go back and play a couple more rounds, and you’ll be able to get away. I promise.” Song Mian smiled.
“If you say so. I’m waiting for you.” Yun Xiangxiang hung up and was about to go out, but she bumped into someone when she opened the door.
“Sorry, I was looking at my phone. Are you okay?” She was an unfamiliar girl whom Yun Xiangxiang had no recollection of.
“I’m fine.” She was also looking at her phone, which made her bump into the girl.
She smiled apologetically before going into the bathroom, and Yun Xiangxiang guessed that she came later than she did.
Did Mrs. Shi not introduce her to us because I was playing mahjong?
Yun Xiangxiang went back to the table with some doubts. Since Song Mian said she would get away after two more rounds, Yun Xiangxiang didn’t hold back.
After winning nearly five hundred thousand more from Chang Yuan, before she could say “Another round,” someone opened the door.
Song Mian walked inside easily, a smile dancing on his lips. With how attractive his looks were, everyone who liked or didn’t like him looked in his direction.
He went to Yun Xiangxiang’s side before placing his hand on the edge of the table. As he stood there, he pulled Yun Xiangxiang into his embrace. “I heard about my girlfriend’s excellent luck here.”
“Yeah, Dr. Song. Your girlfriend won against all three of us. Our bet was five thousand per round, and she won nearly six million from us!” Shi Youxuan pretended to look like she lost a lot of money as she told Song Mian about the event.
“Great. I’m here to ask her for help. I played a few rounds with Young Master Chang a bit, but I lost horribly.” Song Mian gazed at Yun Xiangxiang. “Can you win the game for me, babe?”
Yun Xiangxiang threw him a suspicious gaze, for she remembered him saying that he could win back all the money she had lost.
She suspected Song Mian of losing to Young Master Chang on purpose, and that person must be Chang Yuan’s brother or uncle.
With this, Chang Yuan had no reason to keep her here, for the thing she cared about most was their family’s name and reputation.
Even though Yun Xiangxiang won against her, her relative won against Song Mian, so this was a prouder moment to have.
Song Mian took Yun Xiangxiang toward the men’s side just like that, while nobody else followed.
“Do you really want me to help you out?” Yun Xiangxiang whispered when she noticed there was nobody beside them.
“Of course, I was hoping you would win a round for me,” said Song Mian earnestly. “Just do your best. Chang Tao isn’t a little girl like Chang Yuan is.”
He meant that this player was a generous one and would admit defeat graciously, unlike Chang Yuan.
In that case, Yun Xiangxiang was fired up. She even rolled up her sleeves before telling Song Mian in high spirits, “Leave this to me.”
When she came to the men’s side and sat around the table, Yun Xiangxiang wanted to retreat, for they were playing Texas Hold’em.
She thought they were playing mahjong just like them, so she was fired up. But she knew nothing about Texas Hold’em.
“I’ve known Young Master Mian for a long time, but this has to be the first time he asked for help because of his bad luck.” The young man who was in his late twenties spoke. He was sitting on Song Mian’s right.
He was a good-looking man. Aside from having a pair of seductive, flirty eyes, his features were also delicate.
A man like this would mesmerize everyone by crossdressing, but he also had the air of manliness different from young, handsome men.
Sing Mian didn’t mind Chang Tao’s tease. He placed Yun Xiangxiang in his spot, while he stood behind her with his hands placed at both her sides in a protective stance, where she was in his embrace.
“I’ve probably used up all my luck in meeting her.” Song Mian lowered his head to look at her as if she was the only thing he saw.
It was fortunate everyone was young here, and there were only six of them. If there were any elders around, Yun Xiangxiang would have tried to find a place to hide.
She didn’t mind him flirting with her on most days since there were only two of them, but they were doing this in front of a group of people now.
Even if he was saying so, Yun Xiangxiang wasn’t at the stage where she could show public affection with him without skipping a beat.
Everything went as she expected. The moment Song Mian flirted, aside from Tang Zhiyu, everyone was horrified, looking as if they saw an alien.
With the hand that was hanging down, Yun Xiangxiang used the cover the table provided to pinch Song Mian in hopes that he would tone down the flirting.
