Chapter 241: But When You See The Newcomer Laugh, How Can You Hear The Old One Cry
“You’re being real smug right now,” Sun Qiluo glared at her poisonously, as she did in “The King’s Plan.”
“Elder sister, you know what I love to see the most?” Yun Xiangxiang asked her softly, just like she did in the film.
“What, what is it?” Sun Qiluo had her guard up.
Yun Xiangxiang smiled at her and rolled her eyes, “The look on your face when you want to strangle me. But. You. Can’t.”
After saying that, Yun Xiangxiang even bowed at Sun Qiluo as she did in the film.
She left Sun Qiluo behind who looked at her with hatred. Hou Cang felt the need to remind her, “Snap out of it, don’t get too immersed.”
“Uwah, my dear, you really were seduced by my sister. Men are all pigs,” Sun Qiluo turned her face aside. She immediately locked on to a place.
“Let’s get going and find the jade,” Hou Cang prioritized lunch.
“I found it, I think,” Sun Qiluo became herself again. She trotted to a shop that was displaying some decors. Within one of them, a piece of the jade was embedded. “Shopkeeper, can I have this?”
“Of course, of course,” the shopkeeper nodded smilingly.
Sun Qiluo carefully pried out the jade. After placing the decor back she turned to the program team, “That’s some tricky spot.”
The program team said nothing. Instead, they announced, “Hou Cang and Sun Qiluo have acquired a piece of the jade.”
“Now we’re the only ones with nothing to show,” Lu Jin and He Xingzhou who heard the announcement looked at each other.
“You’re dragging me down,” He Xingzhou accused Lu Jin. “I got some jadeite last night, remember?”
“You would have been starving now if not for me,” Lu Jin wasn’t someone who would take any hits lying down.
He Xingzhou retorted, “Even if you didn’t say anything, Xiangxiang would have anyway.”
He firmly believed in Xiangxiang’s kindness.
“No, I wouldn’t. I didn’t really think of the loophole. Only thought the rules said to not mention the specials,” Yun Xiangxiang said from behind.
The pair turned around. Lu Jin held back his laugh. He Xingzhou looked hurt, “Xiangxiang, wouldn’t your conscience hurt?”
“Not getting any breakfast is your problem. I did nothing wrong, why would my conscience get hurt?” Yun Xiangxiang rebuked.
She wasn’t trying to hurt He Xingzhou. She was saying it like it was. She just helped Sun Qiluo before this. She couldn’t help He Xingzhou right after that. Besides, she didn’t know how to give him any indirect hints. She wouldn’t give Lu Jin a thumbs up otherwise.
No matter how smart a person was, they would get stumped at times. Their intelligence would leave them once in a while.
“You have to thank Brother Jin for your breakfast.”
“I get it now. Your love has changed. Ah, from now on, you shall think nothing of my tears as you embrace your newfound love,” He Xingzhou started getting into his character. He leaned against the pillar beside him, looking devastated.
“I endured the torture in your place. You heard my sister. King Wen of Chu snatched me away because…”
“Hold it right there. Let’s keep on searching for the jade,” He Xingzhou felt disgusted when he thought about them shipping him with Lu Jin.
Lu Jin naturally refused to sacrifice himself for someone else’s perverted dream. He immediately went away with He Xingzhou.
Yun Xiangxiang smiled as she walked past them. She stopped in her tracks after a few steps. “I found everything down that street there.”
She rattled the jade pieces on her hands. “I don’t think I would miss too many pieces in the places I went. But for you guys…”
She looked at their hands. “You must have missed a ton of pieces.”
“Don’t give me that smug look. Don’t look down on me,” He Xingzhou snorted.
“Hey, it’s just a kind reminder. You two might have wronged me, but I still remember the great times we shared,” Yun Xiangxiang smirked.
“He wronged you, that much is right. But what did I do?” Lu Jin felt this come out of nowhere.
“He lost me to you. You died and I became a widow,” Yun Xiangxiang didn’t beat about the bush.
The pair turned around quietly. They were planning to take the corner and leave. Suddenly, a cat ran down from a roof. There was the sound of something slapping against the ground, and it lay in front of Yun Xiangxiang.
The program team made the jade pieces out of plastic. It wouldn’t break even if it fell down the ground. Yun Xiangxiang bent down and picked it up.
She tilted her head to look at the ancient-style roof. “You guys are some real pranksters. I can’t believe you hid one there!”
“Doesn’t matter, you found it anyway,” the program team was numb to it by now.
“What the heck was that…?” He Xingzhou was petrified as he looked at the five jade pieces Yun Xiangxiang was holding.
He and Lu Jin didn’t raise their heads even when they had been there for a few minutes. That darned cat didn’t run toward them either.
But when Yun Xiangxiang came, it ran toward her, giving her another piece of jade.
“Beauties are blessed by the heavens, it seems,” Yun Xiangxiang held her face in her hands.
She turned around smugly, leaving like a lovely butterfly fluttering away.
After Yun Xiangxiang left, He Xingzhou asked Lu Jin, “Am I not handsome enough?”
“Who’s your benchmark?” Lu Jin asked.
“It’s…” He Xingzhou swallowed what he had to say as he looked at Lu Jin’s face.
After parting with the duo, Yun Xiangxiang met the child holding the jade piece.
“How old is your child now?” Yun Xiangxiang didn’t go straight to the child. Instead, she went to chat with his chore-doing mother nearby.
“Just had his four-year-old birthday,” the child’s mother answered sheepishly.
“I have a little brother who is almost three…,” Yun Xiangxiang talked about her brother’s little stories to the mother.
The mother also opened up. They couldn’t stop once they started talking about children. When the child saw them talking, he butted in, wanting to have fun too.
Yun Xiangxiang took off the cloud-shaped bracelet on her wrist and swung it in front of the child. “You like this?”
“Yeah,” the child’s eyes were sparkling adorably.
“You can have it if you like it,” Yun Xiangxiang wrapped it around his wrist. The wristrope could be shrunk. But the child’s wrist was too petite. Even the smallest size could easily fall off his wrist.
Yun Xiangxiang took it apart and took a strand of rope away. She used the two remaining strands to make a mini wristrope.
Her hands were deft. She only spent about ten minutes to make it and wrap it around the child’s wrist.
The child was overjoyed as he looked at the wristrope. He let go of the jade piece and the accessory he was holding.
“Can I have this?” Yun Xiangxiang picked up the jade piece.
Remembering his jade piece, he snatched it back from Yun Xiangxiang. She smiled and patted his head.
“I’ll be going now. You listen to your mother, alright?” Yun Xiangxiang stood up and started to leave.
The child seemed to adore that jade piece. He can have it if he wants. I have five pieces already anyway.
“Sis sis! Here you go,” as Yun Xiangxiang was leaving, the child ran toward her and gave her the jade piece.
