Chapter 306: Attack And Counterattack
To make it up to Yun Xiangxiang, Song Qian prepared a beautiful fruit platter for her.
“It would be perfect if it’s chilled,” Yun Xiangxiang nitpicked after she was done eating.
“I don’t have chilled fruits, but I do have something that might make up for it.” Song Qian handed a mahogany carved box to Yun Xiangxiang. “The young master sent this.”
Yun Xiangxiang could smell the relaxing fragrance before she even opened the box. “Is it the sachet for me?”
The box looked retro. Song Mian did say he would send her a sachet. Yun Xiangxiang would of course think in that direction.
But her guess was off the mark. The thing that was lying inside there was a beautiful, bell-like item.
She picked it up. “Ooh, a scented ball. Pretty!” She noticed what it was.
It was a gold-and-silver scented ball, with lonicera flower patterns sitting next to each other. Six flowers encased the little incense bowl. It was fully carved and delicately crystal.
No matter how the ball rolled around, the incense bowl in the middle stayed level. It was truly a work of fine craftsmanship.
“The wisdom of our ancestors is breathtaking,” Yun Xiangxiang played around with the scented ball.
This ingenious design only appeared in the height of the Tang Dynasty. This scented ball couldn’t be anything made by modern craftsman, Yun Xiangxiang thought. It was a bona fide antique.
She didn’t know what the source for the ball’s fragrance was, but she liked it nonetheless.
“That’s not the only breathtaking part of our ancestors’ wisdom.” Song Qian lay out Yun Xiangxiang’s blanket for her. “Get some sleep. There will be no pests this time around.”
Yun Xiangxiang grinned at her and went to bed holding her beloved scented ball. She didn’t let it go even when video calling Song Mian.
Even Song Mian couldn’t ignore her fiddling with the ball. “If you treasure it that much, even I will be jealous,” he said.
Yun Xiangxiang teased him for quite a while before she hung up and went to sleep.
When morning came, Yun Xiangxiang powered up her phone, only to receive Song Meng’s panicked call. “This is bad, Xiangxiang!”
An explosive news went around China as she slept. The article talked about Yun Xiangxiang sleeping with some rich man to get more famous. Yun Xiangxiang was perplexed.
She hung up and scrolled through Weibo to see what was going on.
There were photos where she was sent to and from that mansion in Faye’s car. They were clear shots. There was one where she was invited inside politely. There was one where Song Qian went out to stand sentry, looking all cautious. There was even one where Yun Xiangxiang was politely sent away.
These photos were not taken by the reporters who were tailing them. Song Qian didn’t notice anyone following them yesterday.
Only one explanation was left. Faye was the one who provided these photos. How else would anyone find out who took Yun Xiangxiang and where she went yesterday?
The mansion belonged to a rich Frenchman who loved to have affairs. The news about this man was also dug out from the French news depository.
The whole of China was questioning how Yun Xiangxiang had gotten such an important character in a foreign film. Now they knew. She sold her body. Or so they thought.
The attacks started. It was utterly disgusting. Anyone with a slightly weaker mind would have been crushed under the volley of the attacks on the online world.
Yun Xiangxiang would admit that this was a dastardly move by Faye. She didn’t expect Faye to tamper with the car and the mansion.
Yun Xiangxiang’s image was at an all-time low in China. Even if she tried to clarify things, some people would still choose not to believe her.
Faye was probably working with Chen Junjie. The selection for “Flying Sky”‘s female protagonist was right around the corner. If she was embroiled in something like this, it would put Yun Xiangxiang at a grave disadvantage.
If she managed to get Tiantian, everyone would accuse her of getting it by sleeping with all the producing team members.
It would ruin her career development.
Upright directors wouldn’t try to work with her. They would be attacked by the unrelenting netizens.
Perverted ones would work with her, but only for her body.
He Wei called her, “What is going on?”
He didn’t believe the news. The whole incident was bizarre. He already had his people keeping an eye on Chen Junjie, and yet this piece of news still fell into his hands, bypassing He Wei’s men.
And the news was released by Chen Junjie’s own media outlet without He Wei knowing about it.
“About this matter…,” Yun Xiangxiang wouldn’t hide it from He Wei. She told him what happened.
“How will you deal with this?” He Wei asked. “If your response is poor, the company might bar you from taking part in “Flying Sky”s selection.”
This was a different kind of scandal. Usually, scandals like these only involved the wealthy men in China.
This case of Yun Xiangxiang’s involved a foreign person. It was a taboo for their countrymen. Nobody would forget about this, at least not in the short term.
Since the enemy laid this trap specifically for Yun Xiangxiang, it would be almost impossible for her to make a comeback.
“Leave this to me, Brother Wei,” Yun Xiangxiang only left this message before hanging up.
She logged into Weibo and posted a status as the storm raged on.
[Actress Yun Xiangxiang V: I won’t even bother sending a lawyer’s letter. I will not settle this outside of court. Just you wait for the court summons.]
Yun Xiangxiang made a simple post and tagged the media outlet that posted this story.
She calmed down her fans. Many netizens believed her, thanks to her confidence. But there were still a lot of trolls trying to fan the flames even further.
Yun Xiangxiang didn’t bother with them. She texted Qi Jun. [Give me Faye’s dad’s phone number.]
The moment she sent the message, Song Mian called her. Yun Xiangxiang picked it up. “Stay out of this. I’ll handle this myself. If I don’t teach her a lesson, this girl will think I’m an easy prey!” She didn’t give Song Mian any chance to speak.
Song Mian swallowed what he had to say. “I feel like I can’t really do anything to help my girlfriend,” he said helplessly.
“That’s because I’m an excellent lady,” Yun Xiangxiang sounded relaxed, as if she wasn’t affected by the overwhelmingly negative response toward her news. “Go wash yourself up and have your breakfast. I’m busy.”
“Okay, okay. I’ll not disturb you then,” Song Mian hung up nicely.
Qi Jun had sent her Eric’s phone number. She tried calling it, but it didn’t go through. Yun Xiangxiang called him the second time.
This time, Eric took the call. Yun Xiangxiang spoke, “Mr. Eric, I’m Yun. We saw each other at your daughter’s birthday party. Sorry for disturbing you, but your daughter has been causing me some trouble. I have something interesting here that I believe the French news outlet would love to have. But I do believe you should listen to it first.”
Yun Xiangxiang knew Faye was going to attack her when they were talking in the mansion. When Milles sent Yun Xiangxiang a message, she turned on the voice recording function of her phone.
Yun Xiangxiang deliberately got Faye to say what Yun Xiangxiang wanted to. The things about disregarding life and flouting laws were just part of Yun Xiangxiang’s plan.
