It was already dawn, as Joseph almost fell into a deep sleep, her shrill had made him fully awake. He
frowned for a few seconds and sat up. After regaining his composure, he spoke unhappily, “Why are
you screaming? Look, we’re still having our clothes.” Hayden was startled and she stared at him for
quite a long while. Seeing him wearing his pajamas and noticing she was wearing pajamas too, her
face flushed.
Joseph glimpsed at her and said blandly, “It’s the hotel staff member who changed your clothes. As for
the reason why am I sleeping beside you, you should ask yourself. I couldn’t possibly just sit there
when you held me back and sleep talked the whole night, could I?” Hayden’s face went redder and she
wanted to bury herself that instant. That man seemed to have a mind-reader that he was able to tell
what were you thinking with just a glimpse.
“Then, why am I here?” she bit the bullet and asked. The structure of the room was more or less similar
to the one she stayed before, yet it was easy to tell it was not the room she stayed before as there was
no CCTV camera. Joseph got down the bed. He poured a cup of tea and handed it to her, asking her
back, “You knew you would get seasick, yet you still insisted to go for the cruise. Did you really do that
for Noah, or it’s because…”
“Because of what?” Hayden was baffled. Joseph looked at her deeply and said, “You’ve planned for
this to happen.” Hayden’s expression changed and she raised her eyebrows. “Who were you saying?
Am I that shameless? You thought I’ve bumped into you on purpose? Are you thinking that all the
women on this planet should like you?” she retorted aggressively and quickly, as if she had suffered a
great humiliation.
“What if I say I do hope that you planned for that?” His words dowsed her fire of rage at once and she
was completely dumbfounded. “Are, are you joking with me? It, it’s not funny at all.” Her face froze. She
evaded from his look and gulped down the whole cup of water.
“Do you think I’m a person who likes to joke?”
Hayden nearly got choked by the water. Her face flushed as she suppressed her urge to cough. “I don’t
know what you mean.” She chose to act dumb to avoid herself getting embarrassed as he might not
actually mean that. Joseph frowned and said, “Looked up.”
“Sorry?” Feeling startled, she looked up in response. Yet the moment she did that, a dark shadow fell
right onto her face and her wet lips were covered by something warm. She could felt the gentle biting
sensation from her lips which grew more and more aggressive when she gasped.
Her mind was blown at once and she could not think at all. The kiss carried on for a long time and she
was nearly suffocated when Joseph finally released her. She grabbed the bed sheet and puffed hard
without even having the strength to criticize him.
“Do you get it now?” Joseph stood with his back straight. His imposing shadow still made her difficult to
breathe. His deep and slightly coarse voice made her heart kept on racing. Hayden continued lowered
her head and only questioned him while gritting her teeth after a while, “If I say I still don’t get it, would
you think I’m proud and foolish?”
Joseph was startled when he saw the disgust in her eyes when she looked up. “If there’s any
inappropriate behavior of me back then that makes you misunderstand me that I’m this kind of woman,
I’ll apologize. I hope what happened just now would not happen again in the future, and I don’t want to
repeat that the second time too.” After finishing, she got up and headed towards the room door.
Joseph grabbed her arm from behind and said, “Make it clear, why you…” A clear slapping sound
echoed in the room. Hayden tossed his arm away and her eyes were brimmed with humiliation and
grievance. She rumbled, “I’m not that shameless enough to become the other woman.”
As she said that, she slammed the door closed and left. The sound of the door being slammed shut
echoed in the room for a long while, and the whole room seemed to shake too. Joseph touched his
cheek which was gotten slapped. The shock in his eyes gradually disappeared. He was not raged, but
feeling slightly aggrieved instead.
The first tint of sunlight was seen rising from the sea horizon and it had shined into the dark room. After
waiting for the call to be picked up for several seconds, Joseph’s voice was heard. “Magnus, you can
stop planning for the wedding now.”
“…”
“Yes, the marriage is cancelled. Tell Viola about this.”
“…”
After hanging up, Joseph walked towards the French window and opened it. The sea breeze instantly
blew towards him. After going through the rainstorm that had lasted for the whole night, the air outside
was especially fresh. That woman had made her move before even asking for his thought, did she
really think he was that kind of man that enjoyed starting new romantic relationships?
Meanwhile, Hayden had returned to her room full of annoyance. She lied on the bed and did not look
up at length. The embarrassed and annoyed feeling made her extremely uncomfortable. She had no
idea what Joseph was trying to do, did he really think she was that kind of a simple woman? How
horrible.
Freddie returned safely with Stella at noon. Stella was ignorant and did not have any fear. She went
back to the room and told Hayden the horrifying scenes she had witnessed the day before in a
dramatic way, “Mommy, the wind at the place where Freddie and I stayed was so strong! The rooftop
was almost blown away! There was even fish dropping from the sky when it’s raining, how amazing.”
With a worried look, Hayden grasped Stella’s hand and said, “It’s mommy’s fault, I should have gone
with you.”
“Luckily you didn’t. Having needed to take care of little Stella on the island, I was worried that I won’t be
able to face you if anything happens to her,” Freddie said with fear and a pale look. “If you’ve gone with
us too, I’ll have to be worried of two people. I’m actually worried of my capability to take good care of
both of you during that kind of dangerous situation.”
Luckily it had become a past. Hayden hugged Stella. Stella did not have any feeling that she had just
survived a disaster, she kept on saying she was hungry and she wanted to eat. Hayden could only tidy
up and without even bothered to care for the cameramen that were following behind them, they went
downstairs to have their meal.
After making orders, Stella’s black eyes rolled and she exclaimed when she saw two familiar shadows
walking into the restaurant and heading towards them. “Mr. Beckham! Noah!” Hearing her call,
Hayden’s expression froze and she looked up subconsciously.
Joseph and Noah came as expected. “Mommy! It’s Mr. Beckham and Noah!” Stella was so excited as if
she had just made a new discovery, she grabbed Hayden’s arm with one hand and waved at both
Joseph and Noah with another. “Come here, Mr. Beckham.” Freddie who was at the side frowned and
he muttered unhappily, “Why is he here too? I always see him everywhere I
go.”
