Luke avoided his gaze. “Mr. Hayes, I’ll say it. Please don’t get mad.”
“Say it!”
“Based on the clues provided by Mr. Pence, we investigated the militaries in different regions and found
out that he… looks like Mr. Jadeson’s subordinate.”
“What did you say? Devin?”
As expected, Sebastian was shocked upon hearing it.
How could it be Devin? Have they mistaken?
Reluctant to believe it, Sebastian said, “Nonsense! What does Devin have to do with it?”
“It’s true, Mr. Hayes. If you don’t believe me, I can show you the information they sent me.”
Luke put the related documents on the table, including the detailed information and the characteristics of
Devin’s soldiers.
Every brigade had distinct skills, which had to do with the commander.
For instance, given that the Jadesons’ soldiers were of ground forces, they received firearms and combat
training.
As such, the training would leave a mark on the soldiers.
“Look at this. Well, most military daggers were made up of carbon steel. However, the ones used by
Devin’s troops were composed of rare material; hence, more durable and resilient.”
Luke pointed at two pictures as he explained.
One of the pictures was taken from the surveillance camera and showed the moment a masked man
abducted Frieda. It was clear that he put a dagger near Frieda’s neck.
Another picture showed two daggers, one of which was ordinary while the other looked special.
Besides, the second dagger looked similar to the one owned by the masked man.
A gloom settled over Sebastian’s face.
As Sebastian stared at the pictures, he seemed to be rooted to the ground.
However, his expression turned monstrous.
“However, this can’t prove that he was involved. What’s the reason for him to do so?”
“Well, it’s because your mom is the person the Jadesons has been looking for!”
Karl happened to have come back at the right time. He walked toward the office with his face half-
covered with snow.
Sebastian’s eyes suddenly widened in shock.
“What did you say? Say it again!”
“Mr. Hayes, I’ve figured out everything that you instructed me to investigate. Why don’t you spend some
time reading the information that I’ve brought back for you? I think you’ll have a clearer idea after reading
it.”
Karl could feel that Sebastian’s mind was in turmoil. Slowly, he put the parcel that he brought back before
Sebastian.
Sebastian’s expression turned grim upon seeing the parcel.
Although he only stared at it and didn’t open it right away, his pale fingers revealed that he was
frightened.
Sebastian is extremely smart. How can he not know what is in the parcel?
Karl and Luke waited aside quietly.
After quite some time, Sebastian began to open the parcel slowly.
There were two photos and a torn red notebook with a lot of red marks that covered the words.
“After Shin’s death, his information related to the military camp was obliterated. As such, I only managed
to find his old comrade and retrieved these from him,” Karl explained when Sebastian was staring at the
items.
A few seconds later, Sebastian grabbed the photos.
The first photo was a group photo of soldiers in their uniforms.
Sebastian took a closer look at the photo and saw Frederick and Rufus.
“Could it be that—they knew each other?”
“Yes, they used to be under Shin’s command. Back then, your father and Ms. Wand’s father joined the
military and were assigned to Shin’s camp. He was their commander, yet all of them were close to each
other. You’ll know it by looking at the next photo.”
Sebastian grabbed the second photo after Karl reminded him.
Just as what Karl described, the second photo was a group photo of six, in which Frederick and Rufus
were standing beside the imposing commander and smiling happily.”
In that case, did the two old men lie to him?
At that moment, Sebastian grew increasingly furious.
However, he soon resisted his anger and continued examining the torn red notebook that almost became
ashes.
“According to his comrade, the notebook was taken from Shin’s body after he died. When the bullet
passed through his chest, the notebook, which was in his left pocket, was also torn.”
Karl repeated everything that Shin’s comrade told him in a deep voice.
