Something Happened To Ian Too
Duncan was in trouble.
The two siblings instantly lost the mood to watch the waterfall. They rushed over to the side of the path
and lay on their stomachs, trying their best to get a view of the bottom.
Nonetheless, this only made their faces pale.
“We’re so high up. Ian, do you think something bad has happened to Duncan? What should we do?”
After all, Vivian was still a girl. When she saw the steep cliff beneath the path, she started to panic and
cry.
Ian did not expect this kind of situation to happen, either.
However, he was a quick-witted person. After observing the area for a while, he placed his bag down.
“Ian, what are you trying to do?”
“I’m going down to take a look.” As he said that, he took out an extendable steel rope that was over a
dozen meters long from his bag and got ready to head down there.
Vivian was shocked at the sight.
“No way. You can’t go down there. It’s too dangerous. Besides, you’re not Matt. He’s received training in
the military base and is a skilled fighter. You haven’t even received any training. It’s too dangerous for
you to go down there.” She cried even louder, holding onto Ian’s arm tightly and not letting him go.
She did not want Ian to go down there.
Instead, she wanted to quickly get someone to help them search for Duncan.
Nonetheless, when Ian glanced at the deep water hole gushing with water, he could not help but think of
his best friend who had fallen into it. It was impossible for Ian to wait any longer.
“Listen to me, Vivi. Look, this steel rope will be tied to my waist. If something happens to me, all you have
to do is just press on this button, and it’ll pull me back up,” he explained.
“Really?” Vivian’s teary eyes stared at the tool.
In the end, she watched her brother go down the cliff, while she continued lying by the side of the path
with her eyes fixated on the bottom of the cliff.
At the same time, she was gripping tightly onto the steel rope.
Every minute felt like a century to her.
After waiting for some time, she finally felt a movement in the steel rope. She immediately stuck her head
out and looked into the deep hole. “Ian!”
Although most of her voice was drowned by the sound of the waterfall, the people below would definitely
hear her.
However, Vivian received no response after yelling a few times. Instead, all she saw was the steel rope
swaying in the wind.
Why is it swaying with the wind?
Vivian stiffened.
Ian is down there. How is this happening? Shouldn’t there be a weight pulling on it?
Feeling suspicious, she quickly gripped the steel rope and pulled on it. “Ian, are you down there? Ian!”
She was extremely anxious.
Unfortunately, Ian did not reply, while she managed to pull up a large section of the steel rope.
Vivian was stunned.
Her mind blanked out. She seemed to have finally realized something.
No. No way. Ian will be fine.
She quickly denied in her heart. Then she followed Ian’s instructions and pressed the button.
Right after that, the steel rope was pulled up.
However, when all the steel rope was retracted, Ian was still nowhere to be seen. All she saw were the
broken ends of the steel rope.
“No! Ian!”
A miserable cry of agony cut through the air, echoing along the path.
No one would be able to describe the panic, pain, and helplessness she felt at that moment. After all,
they were triplets. They did everything together from the moment they were born and even grew up
together.
Vivian cried miserably by the side of the path.
Just as she was about to tie the steel rope around her waist to go down and investigate, a yell sounded
behind her. “Vivi!”
She immediately stopped crying, and her teary eyes turned to look in the voice’s direction.
“Here! Vivi, I’m here!”
The voice was coming from the water hole at the bottom.
Just then, the person emerged from the water and waved vigorously at her in the mist.
It was Duncan.
When she saw him, she recalled her missing brother and started bursting into tears again. “Duncan, Ian
is missing. He went down to look for you. And now, he’s missing.”
“What?” After he heard her words vaguely from below, Duncan’s expression changed.
About twenty minutes later, both of them finally arrived at the bottom of the waterfall, and Duncan
explained the process of his fall to Vivian.
“There’s a hole here. I fell into it and came out from the water.” He pointed at the section of the path that
caved in.
Vivian began to panic when she saw that. “Then we should quickly go in there to take a look. Ian doesn’t
know how to swim. It’ll be bad if something happens to him.”
She got ready to climb over, wanting to go into the hole to take a look.
It was true that Ian did not know how to swim.
Not only that, Sebastian had not arranged for Ian to learn many skills when he was younger because of
his poor health. The former had wanted to wait for him to get better before letting him start training.
Unfortunately, an incident had happened when Ian was about twelve to thirteen years old.
Hence, the plan was held up.
Meanwhile, Vivian was overwhelmed with anxiety.
Seeing that, Duncan did not stop her and got ready to go over to the hole.
