Identity
Back when he entered the base underground, he took off his protection shoes to prevent Vivian from
finding out.
Thus, his condition was the most severe as he had direct contact with the radiation.
Following that incident, he could not even walk as his feet were red and swollen for several days.
He glanced at Vivian, who was on the phone, and lowered his head to continue applying the medicine
himself.
“Dwayne? What is he doing there?”
“How would I know? But he said his family came for a vacation, so he stopped by Jadeborough to visit
you. Vivi, is he a close friend of yours?” Sabrina probed.
She wanted to dig out some information from her niece.
However, Vivian was too naive to sense that.
“Yes, we are quite close. Dwayne really takes care of me in school. During the graduation ceremony, he
helped me find a model, and I managed to complete the show successfully.”
“I see.” Sabrina chuckled.
“Then, please come back fast. He came a long way here. Don’t make him wait for too long.”
“Okay, Aunt Sabrina,” Vivian answered sweetly.
Hanging up the phone, she turned and discovered Kurt had finished putting the medicine himself. The
latter was currently lying on his bed.
“Kurt, are you done with the medicine?”
Kurt ignored her.
Vivian did not understand why Kurt seemed to be pissed with her. He was leaning against the bed and
scrolling through his phone.
Vivian let out a sigh.
“All right. Please rest well then. My friend is here, so I have to go home. Please call me when you want to
go back. I’ll pick you up,” she explained, getting ready to leave.
Kurt saw her reaching for her bag, and then he spoke icily.
“I’ll go back with you.”
“What?”
Vivian was stunned momentarily.
Ten minutes later, they walked out of the hospital. Kurt had a hard time walking, so Vivian supported him
all the way.
The duo hailed a cab and made their way home. Shortly after, they arrived at Oceanic Estate.
“Dwayne, you’re here,” Vivian greeted Dwayne passionately upon seeing him waiting in the living room.
After waiting for quite some time, Dwayne stood up delightfully when he finally saw Vivian.
“Yes, I’m currently on vacation. Then I remembered you live here, so I came to visit. Who is…”
He was somehow confused and displeased to see Kurt leaning on Vivian’s shoulders.
“This is Kurt. His feet are injured. We just came from the hospital,” Vivian explained without much
thought.
Upon hearing that, Dwayne flashed an attractive smile again.
“I see. Let me help him then. He’s so tall, so you must be tired.” Dwayne extended his hand toward Kurt.
However, before he could touch Kurt, the latter uttered coldly, “No need!”
Dwayne and Vivian were both rendered speechless.
After a few moments of silence, Vivian cast an awkward look toward Dwayne.
“I’m sorry. Let me send Kurt back to his room first. Dwayne, please have a seat. I’ll be right back.”
With that, Vivian continued to escort Kurt back to his room.
How could he be so rude to the guest? Is he trying to embarrass me in public?
Panting heavily, Vivian eventually led Kurt back to his room.
“All right. Get some rest here. I’m going down now.”
“Hold on a second. I want some water.”
Kurt made a request abruptly, not giving Vivian a break.
The latter was speechless.
Fine. I’ll help him. He’s injured, after all.
After the kind-hearted Vivian poured him a glass of water, she was ready to go downstairs.
Kurt was behaving strangely. It seemed like he was deliberately trying to stop Vivian from meeting
Dwayne. He touched the glass and said, “The water is too hot. I want a warm one.”
“Kurt, you…”
Vivian kept calm and poured him another glass of water.
“It’s too cold,” he uttered.
Being the patient girl she always was, Vivian continued to serve him new glasses of water upon his
dissatisfaction.
“It’s too little.”
Kurt did not intend to let Vivian leave.
“It’s too bland.”
“Enough, Kurt. Why are you behaving like this today? I’m not your maid. Why do you keep ordering me
around? That’s it. I won’t listen to you anymore.”
Beyond exasperated, Vivian placed the glass of water in front of him and stepped out.
Kurt stared at her retreating figure. The rage on his face had disappeared, but his face turned ashen
instead.
He sat there and kept quiet.
That’s right. I forgot she is indeed the master. I’m merely her father’s bodyguard.
He did not say anything more after that.
A short while later, another girl came to his room.
“Kurt, how are you? Do you want some water? Let me pour for you.”
It was Lucy.
She probably overheard Kurt’s exchange with Vivian. After seeing Vivian leave, she came in and poured
the water for him.
