Blending In
As Sabrina was pregnant, Sasha decided not to let her go to the bar for the time being.
As such, she was left with no assistant to manage the bar.
“Can you manage it alone? If not, I can arrange a few people to help you out.” Sebastian was concerned
about her.
Well. That’s not a bad idea. Sasha stretched her aching waist and thought to herself.
But just then, her phone rang abruptly.
“Hello?”
“Mrs. Hayes, I’m Mrs. Cooper. I heard that Ms. Hayes is pregnant and unable to go to the bar, right? Is it
possible for me to go there to help out?”
A meek voice came from the phone, leaving Sasha’s mind blank out for a while.
Mrs. Cooper? Which Mrs. Cooper?
She was a little confused at the moment, failing to identify the person who was on the phone with her.
Sebastian overheard the name from the phone and cast her a glance. “Could it be Edmund’s wife?”
Yes. I almost forgot. He’s married now. That’s her.
“Oh, so it’s Mrs. Cooper! Of course, you’re welcome to come work with us. But the work is tiring. I’m not
sure if you could cope with it.”
“There won’t be a problem. I’m the one who does the chores at home usually. So you don’t have to worry
about me, Mrs. Hayes.” Tillie expressed her excitement after hearing Sasha accepted her.
With that, Sasha was left with no choice but to agree.
Putting down the phone, Sasha turned to Sebastian and asked, “Why would Tillie want to go to the bar
suddenly? Is that Edmund’s idea?”
Sebastian furrowed his brows slightly.
“Well, Edmund has some shares in the bar. So I guess that makes sense. Ever since Edmund took over
the Zanders’ business, I heard that Tillie has been having a difficult time with Gabriella and her two
daughters. Thus, I understand why she wants to get out and find a job.”
How does he even know about that?
Upon hearing that, Sasha did not feel like further discussing the topic.
She was well aware that besides Riley, the other women in the Coopers were all strange people.
Among them, Violet seemed to be the most serious one. She was pregnant with a man’s child, and she
requested the Coopers to give her an expensive dowry. And after Edmund rejected it, she went to the
man’s house by herself.
The man’s mother suspected the child was not theirs and cast her out in broad daylight.
That was a huge embarrassment for the Coopers.
Hence, one could imagine Tillie was most probably not having a comfortable life staying in the Cooper
residence.
At that moment, Sasha made up her mind to accept Tillie.
When Sasha arrived at the bar the following day, she saw a young lady wearing a short skirt and carrying
an elegant handbag.
“Are you… Mrs. Cooper?”
It was the first time for Sasha to meet Tillie at such a close distance since the wedding ceremony.
Without the heavy makeup, Tillie’s features seemed somehow ordinary.
However, what startled Sasha the most was that Tillie looked extraordinarily shy and nervous.
“Yes, Mrs. Hayes. Please call me Tillie.”
Her tone sounded utterly reserved, and she lowered her head right after she finished her sentence.
Sasha was somehow dumbfounded by that.
Isn’t she the daughter of a rich family as well? How could she have such low self-esteem?
With that, Sasha took the initiative to act friendly. “All right. Tillie, please stop addressing me as Mrs.
Hayes as well. Edmund, my husband, and Devin are all good friends. Please call me Sasha.”
“Okay, Sasha.”
Tillie agreed with it happily, even though she immediately lowered her head once again.
An introvert like her was not exactly suitable to work at the bar. It was a service industry where staff
needed to be cheerful and passionate to serve the customers.
In other words, the profits relied directly on the staff’s attitude.
However, Sasha did not feel irritated at all with Tillie.
She put the latter in the position that handled customer order statistics.
“Tillie, let’s try this position for today. Please let me know if you run into any problem, okay?”
“Okay, Sasha.”
Staring at the unfamiliar working environment, Tillie could not suppress the excitement in her gaze.
With that, she started the new chapter of her life at the bar.
Even though she was unfamiliar with this industry, she was a quick learner. Sasha even discovered that
Tillie seemed talented with numbers.
“Tillie, what was your major in school?”
“I studied accountant,” Tillie replied shyly while handing over the ledger she had just finished calculating.
I see. That makes sense then.
Sasha was somehow thrilled upon hearing that. She rechecked the ledger and confirmed there was no
mistake with Tillie’s calculations. That day after work, she purposely paid a compliment to Tillie.
