We Need Daddy
Poison? He made it himself, probably. He was a chemistry genius, after all.
Ian fell sick after that. His fever lasted for three days, and Sasha had to come back to see him. Even
Sabrina came as well.
“Is he all right, Dr. Wallen?”
After Grayson checked Ian up, he said, “He’s all right. His psychological trauma caused his lymph nodes
to get inflamed, and that’s why he has a fever. He just has to get injected. That’s all.”
However, Sasha was shocked to hear that news. Psychological trauma? But that’s even worse.
She started getting really worried for her son, and as she expected, after Ian got better, he became a boy
of few words. He locked himself up in his room all day and wouldn’t come out no matter who called him.
When Jonathan saw it, he realized that he might have acted a bit too rashly regarding Duncan’s case.
“Do you have any idea how to heal him, Grayson?”
“It’ll be hard. He’s always been a lone wolf, and this case traumatized him. If he can’t get over it, it’ll be
hard to settle,” Grayson said the truth.
Most of Ian’s problems stemmed from the hatred and disgust festering in his heart. The betrayal was not
the main factor. He couldn’t forgive himself for inviting a traitor in and hurting everyone. He had been a
proud person ever since he was a child, and this case devastated his pride.
Grayson hesitated to say it, but in the end, he said, “And I have to remind you that your grandson is
genetically impaired.”
Jonathan looked up all of a sudden, and he blanched. What? How did that happen? This boy must not
follow in his father’s footsteps.
A gloomy atmosphere hung around Oceanic Estate. Vivian was feeling down for the last couple of days
as well. She had been betrayed at school before, and Elaine’s betrayal was even worse than Duncan’s,
so she knew how it felt.
“What should we do, Kurt? Ian just won’t come out no matter what we do. What should we do?”
Kurt was standing beside her, but he couldn’t come up with any good ideas either. However, he did
notice something. “Ian can’t forgive himself for helping Duncan get into the military base. He feels guilty
for having caused harm to his father and family.”
Vivian was still crying, but she looked up at him after hearing his words. “Really? So does that mean if
Daddy wakes up and tells Ian that he doesn’t blame him, Ian will get better?” she asked hopefully.
Kurt was quiet, since he didn’t know how to answer that question either. However, he felt that Sebastian
must know how to handle the matter once he woke up because he was a great man after all.
“Let’s dig up some black stones, Vivi. We’ll do everything we can so your father will wake up sooner.”
“Okay!” Vivian wiped her tears away and agreed to it without hesitation.
While everyone, including Sasha and the Jadesons, was worried about Ian, they didn’t realize that two
kids were missing. Vivian and Kurt sneaked back to the mountain, and they were determined to get the
black stones.
When they told Shin about their plan, he adamantly refused, “You guys want to get the black stones? No
way. They’re in the underground lab, and do you know how dangerous that place is? Nobody has been
there before. You might put yourself in great danger.”
Shin felt guilty, since he created a whole mess the last time because he gave in. That man still hadn’t
recovered, and he couldn’t allow these two to go into the lab. What if they get hurt?
If they were hurt, he would not be able to explain it to Sebastian once the latter regained consciousness.
The moment Shin refused, Vivian suddenly kneeled before him.
“Please! Just let us do this. Only Daddy can help Ian, but he needs to regain his consciousness first, or
it’ll be over for Ian.”
“I…”
“Please! We’re begging you!”
Just when Shin was still hesitating, a handsome, muscular young man came in, and he kneeled before
the old monk as well.
Matteo? He came too? Vivian looked at her brother in surprise, and she held him tightly.
At the last moment, Kurt said, “Master, if you’re worried about us, you can come with us. We won’t do
anything rash. Of course we’ll scout the whole place first before we go in.”
Eventually, Shin let out a long sigh, but he agreed to it, much to the youngsters’ delight.
They set off half an hour later, and Shin was the one who led them. They went in through the entrance in
the temple, and they made a beeline for the lab.
Since Matteo suddenly showed up, Vivian was delighted. While they were on their way to the lab, she
held his hand and kept blabbering. “What brought you here, Matt? I thought you’re keeping an eye on Ian
back at Oceanic Estate.”
