I Am Sorry
Kurt held on for a few moments, then he loosened his grip. Duncan quickly took in big gulps of air, as if
he had just gotten out of certain death.
He knew Kurt was different from him and that Kurt wasn’t just another distinctive child Jonathan had
found, but Duncan never expected Kurt to take him out so easily. After all, Duncan had spent a lot of
time in the military.
Ian had finally arrived. He was staring at Duncan, his face as pale as a ghost. “Who are you? Tell me
who you really are.”
He was hurt by the sudden betrayal, but even at this point, he was still clenching his fists and asking
Duncan about his true identity. He wanted to know what the truth was.
That was how Sebastian’s son should act. No matter what kind of situation he was in, he could grasp the
most important aspect at the most crucial moment.
Duncan was pinned down, and he looked at Ian. Suddenly, he forced a sad, depressing smile. “I’m sorry,
Ian. I lied to you.”
Kurt was standing right beside Duncan. He could see Ian clenching his fists as tightly as he could, trying
not to go on a rampage.
“But this is my fate. I came here to take my mother’s stuff, Ian.”
Before Ian could say anything, Kurt asked in shock, “Your mother?”
Duncan nodded. “Yes, my mother. Her name is Felicity Durant. She helped Eddie make those nuclear
wave weapons. I did everything to get into the base and befriended Ian for this,” he answered honestly,
and his voice was calm.
However, after he said his answer, Kurt and Ian were both equally shocked, and they stared dumbly at
Duncan. He’s Felicity’s son? That’s impossible. Felicity’s son was Isaac. He loved Sabrina, and he even
died for her in that explosion. So what’s the deal with this guy?
“Do you think we are fools? How is it possible that Felicity still has a son? Her son is long dead.”
“That was the son she had with Alfred. I’m not Alfred’s child. My father is Eddie.” He smiled sardonically
as he dropped another bombshell.
Kurt was shocked, and Ian’s eyes were the size of saucepans. For a long, long time, he couldn’t even
say anything about how dumbfounded he was.
He’s Eddie’s son? But Eddie’s almost the same age as my great-grandpa. And he actually pounded
Duncan’s mom?
Duncan said first, “Disgusting, isn’t it? Don’t worry, Ian. Just say it. I won’t blame you. I feel disgusted
about it for a long time now. I don’t mind adding you to the list.”
He seemed calm, but the disdain and disgust in his eyes were apparent.
Kurt was silent, and Ian said nothing as well.
Eddie was said to be disabled. He had only managed to stand up again thanks to the Durant family, who
was famous for their healing skills.
However, a few decades after that, the Durant sisters and their father had become his pawns. He had
sent assassins after Sean, and they had succeeded in killing him. Janice was luckier than he was, but
she didn’t escape the same fate in the end.
After telling Devin the truth, she had taken her own life, and her son—Kingston—had died at Eddie’s
hands as well. In order to save Sasha, she had detonated the bomb in the museum, which also led to
her demise.
Kurt and Ian could not imagine what Felicity must have gone through in the years of serving Eddie. They
didn’t dare to.
A guy who was old enough to be Felicity’s grandfather knocked her up, and she gave birth to the child.
Ian was shivering with fury, and his eyes were red with rage. However, Duncan felt relieved seeing Ian
angry.
He owed Ian a lot, and he even turned his back on his friend, but now that he realized Ian could still get
angry and wanted to kill someone for him, he felt content with it.
Ian didn’t think Duncan was beyond the point of redemption. At the very least, Duncan knew Ian still had
hope for him. “You guys can take me away now.”
Before Duncan was taken away, he told Ian, “Oh, Ian. I found the real reason your father fell sick. It’s not
because of the car crash. My mother’s nuclear wave bombs caused permanent damage to him. See the
black stone around here? The crystal that grew on the stalagmites here? Tell your mother that she can
use this to speed up your father’s recovery.”
Ian suddenly looked up at Duncan, and Ian’s chest heaved. Duncan smiled at him one last time, and
then Kurt took him away.
