Chapter 97 - "I left there before that was never my home. My home is here!" (3)

Zou Fangyun said to her, “Little Sister, I am only showing it because it’s you. I might not even show it if it’s someone else! The house was turned in by some major capitalist. But you don’t need to have any worries. This property now belongs to the government. The process will be clean.

“It is still on the market because many worried that the government might take it away later. Just you wait though. It will be gone in another month or two at most!”

Had her man been wealthy enough, she would have bought it herself.

“I’m sorry, Sister Fangyun. This house is too expensive, and I don’t have that much money for it. I apologize for taking up so much of your time.”

Right now Tong Xuelu felt like someone who walked into a LV shop with just 200 yuan on them. It was just as painful as that.

Zou Fangyun waved her hand. “No need to be so polite. It’s no big deal that you couldn’t afford it. Where are you going to stay then?”

Tong Xuelu sighed, “We’ll see. I'm sure I will figure something out.”

The last resort would be renting from Su Xiuying.

Tong Xuelu was somewhat dispirited on her way back home.

She liked the place a lot. She was not worried at all that the government would take it back. The problem is she didn’t have that much money!

It was still a couple years until economic freedom. It was almost impossible for her to make a lot of money in a short amount of time.

She could learn from many transmigrators before her time and sell food in the black market. Nevertheless, selling food on the black market would get her small amounts. Without any gold finger or dimension, she would not be able to make 4,000 yuan in a short amount of time.

All in all, she would have to resort to renting from Su Xiuying.

After dinner that night, Tong Xuelu told Tong Jiaming that she would be switching jobs soon.

“I swapped jobs with someone who works at the government-operated restaurant. It’s over in the city. We will be looking for a new place to stay and will all move there together. Is there any problem on your end?”

Tong Jiaming was surprised when he heard that.

A job at the government-operated restaurant commanded a lot of respect. Many wanted to work there but couldn’t.

And she was able to trade that with a position at a fabric factory? How was she able to accomplish that?*

Looking at his surprised look, Tong Xuelu went on to explain, “I’ve offered her some minor help and she happened to want to switch jobs, so we swapped.”

Some minor help?

Tong Jiaming did not believe that one bit, but he also wasn’t going to keep prying.

She had sent Tong Zhenzhen over to the farm and Tong Yanliang to the Northwest. Even the crowd who came arrogantly from the old village of Beihe ended up leaving dispirited. All of them were her handy work!

Nevertheless, with her ability, why did she have to leave the other Tong’s place?

Tong Jiaming accidentally thought out loud.

Tong Xuelu lifted her brows, “Don’t tell me you thought I only left because I was intimidated by Tong Zhenzhen or that she had forced me to leave.”

Tong Jiaming, “Was that not the case?”

Tong Xuelu rolled her eyes, “Of course not! You are totally underestimating me. Nobody can kick me out if I don’t want to leave. I left there before that was never my home. My home is here!”

Tong Jiaming felt that his heart had been pounded by a hammer.

He wanted to ask her why she talked to their parents the way that she did if she considered this place her home.

His words, however, never left his lips.

Tong Xuelu had no idea what was going through his head. “Do you have any other questions?”

Tong Jiaming shook his head, “No.”

“Don’t tell anyone else about this just yet. We don’t want to be made fun of should things not plan out the way they should.”

“Okay.”
