Chapter 177 - Why would a woman do that to another woman? (2)

When she got to the lobby, Tan Xiaoyan walked up to her with a happy look. “I heard that your brothers got into a fight with someone. How’s it going now? Were they hit?”

Tong Xuelu reached out her hand and pushed away her square face. “If you have the time to barge into my business, you are better off spending that time thinking about when you can find yourself a husband.”

“……”

Being talked back to by Tong Xuelu, Tan Xiaoyan almost puked out blood from anger.

Tong Xuelu went over to the CSMC and bought some mushrooms and sheet tofu. She then headed over to the marketplace and bought some lettuce and green onions before she headed home.

The two brothers were inside their room with their door closed. She had no idea what they were doing inside.

She sighed to herself and brought the ingredients with her to the kitchen.

She planned to make three different types of buns: meat buns, vegetable buns, and pickled vegetable buns.

She first added water to the flour and formed a dough before she placed a cloth over it to let it rise.

While the dough was rising, she started with the fillings.

She minced the pork and added in two eggs. She then chopped green onions and ginger and added that to the pork with some soy sauce, salt, and sugar. Once she thoroughly mixed everything together, she set the filling aside and let it marinate.

While waiting, she soaked the mushrooms and dried sheet tofu in water. Once they had expanded, she minced the mushrooms and tofu and julienned the lettuce. She mixed everything up with spices to form the vegetable filling.

She then minced the pickled vegetables and mixed them up with some of the ground pork. That formed yet another set of filling.

To make sure that the buns are tasty, she was not one to skim on oil and filling. When the buns were done, an aromatic smell drifted out of the kitchen.

Tong Jiaxin sat up straight when he smelled it. “Second Brother, I think I smell meat!”

Looking at Tong Jiaxin, Tong Jiaming wasn’t sure whether he should laugh or feel helpless. “Let’s go check it out.”

Tong Jiaxin still felt a bit awkward, but that did not last long in light of yummy food.

Tong Xuelu was going to fetch them after she was done, but they had already come over by themselves. “I’ve made some buns. There are three different kinds of fillings. Take them and eat in the living room.”

Standing by the door, Tong Jiaxin tapped the ground with his foot ,and still looking awkward, he asked, “Which three kinds?”

As though she did not notice his awkwardness, Tong Xuelu said nonchalantly, “Meat, pickled vegetables, and vegetables.”

Tong Jiaxin’s eyes lit up right away. “That’s awesome! Those are my favorites!”

Tong Xuelu rolled her eyes to herself: Is there any yummy food that is not your favorite?

The two brothers carried the buns to the living room to eat, and Tong Xuelu plated some buns to bring over with her to the Wei’s to pick up Tong Mianmian.

Shen Wanrong was surprised when she saw Tong Xuelu. “How come you are off so early today?”

Tong Xuelu didn’t hide it from her. “Something happened with Jiaming and Jiaxin at school, so I took some time off from the restaurant.”

Shen Wanrong looked at her, worried. “Is it serious?”

Tong Xuelu nodded, then shook her head. “We don’t know yet. We were told that the school would hold a meeting and decide on whether to expel them.”

Shen Wanrong’s eyes widened. “How could that be?”

Tong Xuelu didn’t elaborate any more on that. “Grandma Shen, here are some buns for you. Is Mianmian inside?”

Seeing that Tong Xuelu no longer wished to continue on the subject, Shen Wanrong politely stopped asking.

Shen Wanrong only brought it up to Wei Zhiguo after Tong Xuelu had left with Tong Mianmian.

“I had no idea what happened. How did it get to the point of being expelled? They both seem like very good kids to me.”

Wei Zhiguo picked up a meat bun and took a bite. The pork was juicy, tender, and well marinated, and the wrapping soft and light. He finished a bun in just 2-3 bites.

“This girl can cook. You should try one while it’s still warm.”

He picked up another one after he had said that.
