Chapter 395 - That was so embarrassing! (1)

Owing to the Four Olds, graves were not allowed back then. A grave was more or less a raised up heap of soil with a piece of rock as the headstone.

Commander Xiao’s eyes reddened instantly when he saw the very crude and simple grave.

He never expected that death would have done them apart since his departure back then.

Had he returned one more time and got the answer from her in person, things would have been quite different.

The northern wind blew and a crow landed on a branch not far from them and crowed, making the atmosphere even creepier.

Xie Jinhua was just about to say something when she saw Xie Guangtian, her nephew, running toward them.

Xie Jinhua’s eyes lit up instantly. She held onto her nephew and said, “Guangtian, this is Commander Xiao, your real father. Hurry up and call him!”

Xie Guangtian was even more eager than Xie Jinhua. He dropped to his knees and said, “Dad, we’ve finally met!”

Xie Jinhua was taken aback a little. Then she was happy how well her nephew was playing along in all this.

Commander Xiao turned around slowly and look at the middle-aged man in front of him with his sharp eyes. “Look at me.”

Xie Guangtian lifted his head and his eyes reddened from excitement. “Dad, I am the son between you and Mom. I am Guangtian!”

Xiao Yanghua’s heart skipped a beat when he saw Xie Guangtian. This was his uncle’s birth son?

Commander Xiao was expressionless. He turned to ask Xie Jinhua, “This is my son with Menzhi?”

Xie Jinhua nodded repeatedly. “That’s right. He is the son between you and my sister-in-law Menzhi. I was here visiting over the New Year when, suddenly, my stomach hurt and I was ready to give birth. I had a stillbirth but Menzhi, too, gave birth on the same day.

“You know how Menzhi got pregnant before she got married and we didn’t want words to get out. That would ruin the reputation of the Tong family and also bad for the child. We thought about it and decided to have my sister-in-law from my maternal side to raise him. She had no children of her own and had always treated Guangtian as if he was her own!”

Looking from Xie Jinhua to Xie Guangtian. Commander Xiao snickered. “You must be such a wonderful sister-in-law, treating your sister-in-law’s son better than your own. I’ve heard that you treated your oldest son as though he was a nemesis of yours when he was around.”

Xie Jinhua’s heart skipped a beat and her hands began shaking uncontrollably. “I, I didn’t like my oldest son because he had a bad temper and was unfilial.”

Commander Xiao, “Do you take me for an idiot or that everyone was a fool like you? If you oldest son was not filial, why would he send back most of his salary to support all of you?”

Xie Jinhua’s knees buckled and she almost fell onto the ground. “How, how I treat my so is none of your business. One way or another, Guangtian is your son. You will wrong Menzhi if you don’ recognize him!”

Commander Xiao felt that as though his heart was stabbed and it was painful when he heard Menzhi’s name being mentioned.

Xie Guangtian pulled out a very ancient silver ring and said, “Dad, I really am your son. Look, I have been wearing this my entire life!”

Commander Xiao’s eyes widened when he saw the ring.

He walked over and snatched the ring from Xie Guangtian. His hand, holding the silver ring, started to tremble.

He had given this ring to Menzhi back then and promised he would return to marry her. He never thought he would see this ring again.

Xiao Yanghua was baffled. He had thought that Tong Daijin was his uncle son before they made the trip. Now he wasn’t so sure.

Xie Guangtian did look a little like his uncle and he was able to produce the ring. Was he really his uncle’s son?

Commander Xiao said nothing while holding onto the ring. The atmosphere surrounding them seemed to have solidified.

Xie Jinhua and Xie Guangtian’s hearts pounded.
