Chapter 437 - "Comrade Tong, your cousin is here." (4)

Looking at Wen Rugui’s pink ear tips, Tong Xuelu very much wanted to reach out and pinch them. Nevertheless, her grandpa, Tong Jiaming and the others had already walked out. She had no choice but to give up on that thought.

Commander Xiao looked at this granddaughter longingly. “Be sure to take care of yourself when you get there. Let grandpa know if anyone bullies you. Grandpa will take care of them for you!”

Tong Xuelu felt warmth in her heart. “Okay, I will tell them that my grandpa is a Commander if they bully me!”

It was quite nice to have backing.

Tong Mianmian hugged her Big Sister’s thigh and blinked her large and watery eyes, “Come home soon, Big Sister. Mianmian will miss you!”

Tong Xuelu rubbed her on her head. “Big Sister will miss you too. Be good and listen to your brothers, okay?”

Tong Mianmian nodded like a chick pecking at rice.

Tong Xuelu told Tong Jiaming and Tong Jiaxin what to be aware of before she got onto Wen Rugui’s bicycle and waved goodbye.

Arriving at the train station, the members of the Commerce Department and the Municipal Foreign Affairs Office were already there.

They walked over to greet Tong Xuelu, shivering.

A little while later, Jie Chengzhou and the others also arrived.

Tong Xuelu was almost blinded when she looked over.

She saw Jackson wearing a green hat with a dark green scarf around his neck.

That entire ensemble of green was very curious.

Seeing how Tong Xuelu was staring at Jackson, Wen Rugui felt a sense of threat. “You like his outfit? Actually…… I can dress like that too.”

Startled, Tong Xuelu said quickly, “No no no. I don’t like that outfit. Please don’t dress up like that!”

Wen Rugui let out a sigh of relief when he heard that.

He thought Jackson’s outfit was awful. Besides, it was quite difficult to find green hat and scarf in China.

It was time to board the train and Tong Xuelu boarded with the others. She waved at Wen Rugui through the window.

Wen Rugui waved back at her mildly and she couldn’t detect too much emotions from his look.

She had an odd feeling. Yesterday she felt that Wen Rugui really didn’t want her to go, but he seemed very at ease today.

Would love disappear?

Trains were very slow at this day and age. The group finally arrived at Yangzhou after 14 ~ 15 hour train ride.

They left in the morning but it was already well after midnight by the time they arrived at Yangzhou.

Luckily, they had informed the department on this end ahead of time to come pick them up.

They took a car ride to the hotel to check in.

Tong Xuelu was exhausted and she headed back to her room to shower immediately after dinner.

She was just about to go into bed when she heard knocking on the door.

She threw a jacket on and went to get the door. When she opened the door, she saw a server from the hotel standing outside. “Comrade Tong, someone claimed to be your cousin is waiting for you downstairs.”

Tong Xuelu lifted her brows. “Cousin?”

Where did this cousin come from?

Tong Yanliang was her cousin, except that he should be getting reformed at the ranch right now.

The server nodded. “Yes, he said his surname is Wen.”

Wen?

Tong Xuelu’s eyes widened. She only knew one person with the surname Wen. This couldn’t be Wen Rugui, could it?

But she quickly shook her head and rejected that idea. Wen Rugui only parted with her that morning.

Besides, why would he come to Yangzhou in such horrid weather?

Tong Xuelu couldn’t figure out what was going on so she put some clothes on and followed the server downstairs.

As soon as she got downstairs, she saw a tall, large man standing by the door.

The man had in his hand a black duffle bag. He was standing there straight in front of the receptionist desk and turned to look over when he heard footsteps.

It was exactly Wen Rugui. The one that she wrote off as impossible to be here right now.

Tong Xuelu was shocked. “What are you doing here?”

Wen Rugui’s eyelashes shuddered. “Cousin, I lost my referral letter and can’t check in.”
