Chapter 419 - She ran a high fever that night. (3)

Father Tong had an idea what was going through his wife’s mind from her look.

He sighed to himself and said nothing.

He, too, felt regretful about it. But they did pretend that they were not aware of it when Tong Xuelu and her family were in trouble. It would look really bad if they butter up to her now after finding out that she was Commander Xiao’s granddaughter.

Of all the family members, Cai Chunlan was the one who regretted and worried the most.

She had gotten into a fight with Tong Xuelu at the restaurant last time and she had badmouthed her in front of everyone. In fact, she was so upset afterward that she spread the words of her being a white-eyed wolf.

Now that she had found out that Tong Xuelu was Commander Xiao’s granddaughter. The more she thought about it, the worse she felt.

As she worried that Tong Xuelu would target her, Cai Chunlan headed over to East Wind Restaurant after she had gotten off work.

East Wind Restaurant stood two-story high. Tong Xuelu, as the manager of the restaurant, had a small break room on the second floor.

She would head over there and rest when it was not busy at the restaurant.

Tong Xuelu was reading inside her breakroom when Cai Chunlan arrived.

Meng Qingqing ran upstairs. “Manager Tong, the woman who claimed to be your second sister-in-law is here again. She said she wanted to talk to you!”

Second sister-in-law?

The thought of Cai Chunlan’s flat biscuit face alone was revolting. “I’m not talking to her!”

Meng Qingqing pitter pattered downstairs to tell that to Cai Chunlan before she ran back upstairs. “Manager Tong, she said she is not leaving until she talks to you!”

Tong Xuelu’s lips tightened a little. “If she’s here to dine, give her a seat. If she’s not dining, ask her to leave. She’s free to wait as long as she like outside.”

Meng Qingqing ran back downstairs to deliver the message.

Cai Chunlan’s face turned red from anger after she heard the message.

Naturally she was reluctant to be standing outside when it was so cold outside. But she also did not want to leave without first seeing Tong Xuelu.

With no other options, she had no choice but to pay to dine there with money and tickets.

Nevertheless, after bowls and bowls of mixed lamb soup. In fact, she had so much that her stomach was protruding, she still hadn’t seen Tong Xuelu coming downstairs.

She had no more money left on her and was asked to leave shortly thereafter.

Cai Chunlan was so angry that her face turned color of pork liver. She stood outside the restaurant and refused to leave, looking very pitiful.

If anyone asked, she’d tell them that she had offended Tong Xuelu in the past. She came to apologize but Tong Xuelu wouldn’t even agree to see her.

When Meng Qingqing heard that, she ran upstairs again to report back to Tong Xuelu.

Tong Xuelu smiled and said, “Let her be. She was the one who called me a white-eyed wolf, no? If I am a white-eyed wolf, wouldn’t it only made sense for me to ignore her?”

“……”

Meng Qingqing gave that some thought and it oddly made sense.

As such, she decided to stay out of it as well.

Cai Chunlan waited for an hour outside and still there was no sign of Tong Xuelu.

She was so cold that her lips turned purple and she was about to freeze over.

She finally couldn’t take it anymore and went home. That night, she started running a high fever.
