Chapter 441 - Tong Xuelu lit a candle for him secretly. (4)

The way that Jackson ate was decorous yet no slower than the others. “Comrade Tong, your cooking is so amazing. I wish I can take you to the US with me.”

Wen Rugui frowned when he heard that. All of a sudden, the potsticker inside his mouth was not as tasty as it was earlier.

Not noticing the look on Wen Rugui, Jackson carried on. “You may not know this, Comrade Tong. Foreigners would call each other ‘darling’ when they meet. ‘Darling’ means ‘dear’. Be sure not to be shocked when you heard that overseas.”

Before Tong Xuelu could say anything, Wen Rugui interjected. “We are Chinese. We only address each other as Comrades or some respectable terms for those who are older than us. We don’t just call anyone ‘darling’.”

At that very moment, Wen Rugui’s impression of overseas could not have been worse.

How could they just refer to everyone as ‘darling’?

‘Darling’ was reserved for him!

Jackson, burned by the potsticker, went to ask for water from the server and the topic on that ended.

Tong Xuelu leaned into Wen Rugui and whispered into his ear when nobody was watching, “Don’t worry. I will only call you ‘darling’.”

Wen Rugui, looking into her limpid almond eyes, felt like someone had shoved a piece of candy into his mouth.

The piece of candy broke apart and the sweetness went from his mouth all the way to his heart and his lips curved uncontrollably.

After breaking, the group took a car and headed toward Comrade Jie Chengzhou’s mother’s hometown.

Wen Rugui told the others that he was still waiting for his colleagues to show up and that he had nothing to do other than staying around the hotel.

When the others heard that, they immediately invited him to join them to go sight-seeing. To which Wen Rugui gladly agreed to.

It took two hours of car ride to arrive at their destination.

Jie Chengzhou brought Jackson to visit their family members and Tong Xuelu and the others hung out at the Production Team.

The others felt that it was too cold outside and opted to stay inside the Production Team captain’s office.

Tong Xuelu didn’t want to stay around with them inside the office so she snuck out with Wen Rugui.

There was not much sights to see in the rural area in the winter time. The trees were bare and there were no flowers or grass. It just snowed the day before and there were ice left on the ground. The ice, mixed with the soil on the ground, looked quite dirty.

There weren’t a lot going on in the wintertime. Many people sat outside their front door sun bathing and working on shoe soles. When they saw Wen Rugui and Tong Xuelu, they all turned to look at them.

They didn’t see a lot of outsiders at this day and age. Tong Xuelu and her group came in cars and that was big news within the Production Team.

The adults stared at them and the kids, more brazen, giggled and followed them around.

It was kinda boring so Tong Xuelu suggested for them to head back around walking around in a circle.

Wen Rugui nodded and the headed started heading back.

Half way back, they saw Jackson walking toward them, camera in hand. “Comrade Tong, so that is where you are. I’ve been looking for you two!”

Tong Xuelu said, “Something’s the matter, Comrade Xiao Jie?”

Jackson, “The sceneries are very different here. I would like to take some photos around here and ask Comrade Tong to be my model.”

Wen Rugui frowned again when he heard that.

He had yet to say anything when some kids behind them started to shout, “Hurry up and run. The geese are coming!”

?

Tong Xuelu and Wen Rugui turned to look and they almost lost control of their bladders.

They saw a large gaggle of geese behind them and they were waving their wings and coming at them aggressively.

Tong Xuelu had yet to be able to make a sound when she felt her body lightened.

She looked and realized that Wen Rugui had picked her up.

“Don’t worry. I got you.”
