Chapter 332 - Even Tong Jiaxin was quiet that night. (2)

They started working on the fish balls after the beef meatballs were done.

All the methods of making fish balls were fairly similar. The trick being the step of grinding the fish into paste form.

When they had finished making the beef meatballs and fish balls, Meng Qingqing and the others were allowed to try a few of them.

The beef meatballs were spongy and crisp. One’s mouth was filled with a rich beef taste with just one bite.

Many were not used to eating beef at this day and age. Some found beef tasting too gamey. Nevertheless, these beef meatballs did not taste gamey at all.

Quite the contrary, the more they had, the better they tasted and the more they want.

The fish balls were not as spongy as the beef meatballs but they were tender and smooth. Their texture was entirely different from that of the beef meatballs.

Meng Qingqing and the others’ eyes lit up when they tried the meatballs and complimented them greatly.

Guo Chunyu, “Manager Tong, I think we can sell of these meatballs in just a couple of days!”

Tong Xuelu had wanted to make some pork meatballs as well, but everyone’s arms were sore after they were done with the beef meatballs and fish balls. As such, they had to give up on that idea and saved the pork for something else.

The patrons started coming at 11 o'clock sharp.

Tong Xuelu didn’t normally pay attention to the patrons but she noticed the patron standing at the very front with one glance.

The patron was around 60 or so in age. He was not young but he looked to be in good spirit.

His eyes were shiny nor did he hunch like many elderlies. He stood there with his back straight and was very eye catching.

The old man was well dressed as well. His hair was oily, bright, and nicely combed out. None of his hair was sticking up.

Tong Xuelu gave him a look. She felt that the old man must have been a handsome man when he was young, and a smooth talking one at that.

The old man was the first to walk up and got the #1 chip. He could go right up and place his order.

The old man walked over to her and asked, “Comrade, are you the server of this restaurant? Where is your chef?”

Tong Xuelu replied, “I am not a server. I am the manager of this restaurant and its chef. Are you looking for me, Sir?”

The old man’s goatee fluttered when he heard that. “No, it’s nothing. I have just heard that the food is very delicious at this restaurant so I wanted to meet the chef. Being such a good chef at your age is very impressive, Comrade.”

Truth be told, the old man had a solemn look and his eyes were particularly piercing. Tong Xuelu had thought he would be the type who didn’t talk much. She never expected him to be the talkative type.

She smiled and said, “Thank you for your complement. Would you like to try our malatang? We have new products today – beef meatballs and fish balls. I dare say that we are the only place in Capital City that offers beef meatballs on our menu!”

The old man’s eyes lit up like stars in the sky. “Yes, I want one of everything. And another order to go.”

As he spoke, he pulled out a bag with two lunch boxes inside like a magician.

Tong Xuelu felt that he was a foodie. She dropped the food in the red soup to be cooked with a smile. “Can you eat spicy food, Sir?”

The old man frowned suddenly. “Mild is okay. But calling me Sir made me sound old. I am old enough to be your grandpa. Why don’t you just call me Grandpa Wen?”

Tong Xuelu, “……”

Doesn’t Grandpa make him sound old too?

And he had the same surname as Wen Rugui. That made Tong Xuelu felt more fond of him.

Seeing that she had not addressed him as Grandpa Wen, Old Mr. Wan blinked and asked, “You said your surname is Tong, Comrade. Which Tong? Tong as in fairy tale?”

Tong Xuelu shook her head, “No, it’s the character similar to winter.”

Old Mr. Wan ran his hand through his goatee and said, “Oh, I see.”
