Chapter 372 - Tong Xuelu's eyes lit up. "You are here, Rugui." (1)

It wasn’t snowing in Capital City yet but the atmosphere was dry as the days got colder.

Tong Xuelu would make tremella dessert for her family every few days. That went on for a while when she felt that her health had improved and she had a healthy glow on her.

It was almost November and the morning had gotten even colder. Breath would steam up when one breathed.

Tong Xuelu got up and got some vegetables and green onions from the garden. She planned to make vegetables and noodles.

Sadly, there was no lamb meat available. Lamb soup would be incredible in weather like this.

Tong Jiaming, as usual, got up early in the morning. What surprised Tong Xuelu more was that Tong Jiaxin, too, was up.

What was even more surprising was that he came to help out in the kitchen after he had finished getting ready.

The kitchen was not big nor did she need any help. Tong Xuelu sent the two to clean out the living room and the back yard.

Tong Jiaming urged Tong Jiaxin to recite the poems as he swept up the fallen leaves.

Tong Jiaxin swept the leaves some and stammered as he recited, “The moon was curved in front of the bed.”

Tong Jiaming’s lips twitched and he swapped Tong Jiaxin with his broom. “The moon was bright in front of the bed.”

Spanked by the broom, Tong Jiaxin rubbed his bottom as he continued, “The moon was bright in front of the bed, it looked like a window.”

Tong Jiaming spanked him again with the room. “It was only the first two lines. How did you manage to get them both wrong? Have you had your mind set on returning to Beihe to pick up pig poops?”

Tong Jiaxin shook his head like a rattle drum. “No, Second Brother. And lower your voice. I don’t want Big Sister to hear us. I have no idea why I am having such a hard time either!”

Tong Xuelu smiled and shook her head when she heard the two from the kitchen.

Everybody’s talent was different. Not good at studying didn’t mean that Tong Jiaxin was stupid. He was a very creative person.

That was the main reason that she had not tried very hard in changing his personality. She worried that too much restraints would limit his true personality and his creativity.

Those in art are always a little different from normal people.

The reciting continued outside the window and Tong Xuelu quickly finished the pot of vegetable noodles.

Tong Mianmian was very docile today as well and did not need to be woken up by others. She even got dressed all by herself.

Tong Xuelu praised her and the little bun blushed from being praised. She even thrusted out her chest and said that she would start getting up and getting ready all by herself from tomorrow on as she was already a big girl.

When Tong Xuelu dropped Tong Mianmian off next door, Shen Wanrong smiled and said to her, “Don’t have dinner at your restaurant tonight. It’s Zhuzhu’s brother’s birthday today and we will be celebrating at home. Why don’t you come over and bring your brothers and sister with you?”

Tong Xuelu accepted the invitation right away. “Sure. I’ll come home earlier tonight then.”

Tong Xuelu contemplated what to get for Wei Ran, Wei Zhuzhu’s brother, on her way to work.

Wei Ran was the second to last batch of Worker-Peasant-Soldier students. After the University Entrance Examination was resumed next year, the Worker-Peasant-Soldier college would stop accepting students.

The last 2 – 3 batches of students from the Worker-Peasant-Soldier college had very awkward status. Their credentials were recognized but not valued. Many places would even ruled them out when it came to promoting officials.

She had read about that prior to her transmigration. The very last batch of these students did not land anywhere nice. They would always get together and complain about how unfair life had been to them. It was part of the problem of this era.

As much as the Wei family was well connected, Wei Ran’s credential would still hold him back in his future.

Tong Xuelu thought about it some and decided to have give him a set of the mathematics, physics, and chemistry textbook to subtly suggest for him to continue with his studying in addition to making him some food.

The academic program of the Worker-Peasant-Soldier college was weak and they focused mainly on politics, industry, farming, and miliary. There was very limited professional knowledge.

If he didn’t start preparing right now, he might not be able to get into a university a year from now.
