Chapter 449 - Tong Zhenzhen smiled triumphantly. (3)

Tong Xuelu felt that she might have caught the cold during her trip to Yangzhou. Worried that she would get cramps during her period, she decided to start having brown sugar soup starting today.

By the afternoon, Fang Jingyuan came on her bike in the cold weather for lunch.

As soon as she walked inside, Tong Xuelu saw her reddened cheeks.

Fang Jingyuan ordered a bowl of lamb soup and noodles. She didn’t leave right away after she was done eating. In fact, she waited around for Tong Xuelu to free up.

Tong Xuelu could tell right away that she had something to say. “Follow me to the break room upstairs.”

Fang Jingyuan’s eyes lit up immediately and she nodded repeatedly. “Sure. I’ll come right away.”

Once they got to the break room, Fang Jingyuan looked around and finally said with envy, “It’s not abig but it sure seems cozy. I am envious that you have such a nice break area.”

Tong Xuelu grabbed some melon seeds and placed them on top of the table. She snacked on them and asked, “Shoot. What is it that you want to talk about?”

Fang Jingyuan hemmed and hawed for a little bit and she blushed all of a sudden.

Tong Xuelu lifted her brows. “You have a boyfriend now?”

Fang Jingyuan’s eyes widened. “How did you know?”

“I guessed.”

Fang Jingyuan covered her cheeks up and smiled like a fool. “Well, you are right. I have a boyfriend now.”

Tong Xuelu, “Congratulations. He must be really good looking?”

Fang Jingyuan looked at Tong Xuelu, once again, with a look of admiration. “Xuelu you are so amazing! You are right again! Comrade Xiang is very good looking. Let me tell you. His skin is fairer than mine and his fingers are long. He’s such an attractive man!”

Ever since Fang Jingyuan had complained that her last arranged date looked like a potato, Tong Xuelu gathered that Fang Jingyuan was a face-dog very much like herself.

“What does he do for a living? Do you know anything about him?”

Fang Jingyuan nodded like someone pounding garlic. “He is the son of the cousin of my second aunt’s colleague. He works at the Department of Education. He’s just a secretary right now but he is a very competent man!”

Tong Xuelu nodded. “His look and ability are secondary. The most important part is his personality. You better make very sure of that before you get married.”

In this day and age, many people get married shortly after the matchmaking and barely knew anything about each other other than what they had learned from the matchmaker.

By the time they learned that the other person was not a nice person or that they were not competent after they were wedded, it was too late to regret. And they would have no choice but to just make do. After all, a few decades would pass by just like that if they compromise.

Fang Jingyuan’s eyes were sparkling. “He’s a very nice person and he’s also very nice to me. I assumed he would be another ugly man the first time we met so I had a lot of sweet potatoes before our meeting. He didn’t even mind when I farted in front of him. Isn’t him oh so wonderful?”

Tong Xuelu wasn’t sure if the man was a nice, but she knew very well that Fang Jingyuan was an idiot.

That was amazing that the man was not bothered by that.

Someone else somewhere else was also blushing at this very moment.

Looking at the man in front of her, Tong Zhenzhen’s heart pounded. “It was very nice to have finally meet, Director Yan!”

Director Yan looked at Tong Zhenzhen sharply. “Comrade Tong Zhenzhen, how did you found out that the ‘Two Whatevers’ policy raised by the President was a mistake?”

That was what was mentioned in Tong Zhenzhen’s letter passed onto him by his nephew.

Signs that “Two Whatevers” was a mistake began to surface before the New Year but it was highly confidential and only a few individuals knew about it. He only knew about it because he had relatives working in the central government.

He was shocked when he read the letter. It was stated in the letter that “Comrade President will openly admit that the ‘Two Whatevers’ policy was a mistake on February 7, 1977.”

She had given the letter to his nephew mid January. He was shocked at the time and wanted to go and seek her out right away.

Luckily, as soon as he stepped outside, his head was cooled by the cold wind. Instead, he had someone looked into and watched Tong Zhenzhen.

Two days ago, February 7, Comrade President announced through two newspapers and one magazine that “Two Whatevers” policy was a mistake and Director Yan was shocked all over again.

He wanted to meet with Tong Zhenzhen to get to the bottom of it all.
