“I didn‘t even say anything!” Alexander puffed his cheek arrogantly.
“Even if the birthday gift is here, I still haven‘t figured out how to send it to him.” Lily sighed as she
rubbed her temples. Even thinking about it bothered her. “Aren‘t you going to go back?” Alexander
asked. It did not seem like she was planning to personally send the gift over from what she said.
Lily shook her head and sighed again. “I didn‘t consider that.”
“Why not?” After a pause, he questioned again, “Is there anyone back there that makes you not want to
go back? Or is it something else? What about your parents?”
Alexander had never heard Lily mention her parents before. Back when he looked into her background,
he did not find any information on them either. It seemed that she had covered her tracks.
“They‘re no longer around,” she said calmly. “They passed away together in a plane crash.” Alexander
did not know what to say. Her calmness bothered him. How could she say such terrible things so
casually?
Then, he reached out to pull her into his embrace. “That‘s all in the past. You have me from now on!”
She snuggled deeper into his arms. ‘You‘re right. I‘ll have you in the future.
Occasionally, Lily would wonder why she fell for him so quickly and trusted him wholeheartedly. It was
something she had never done before. Was it because he gave her a sense of security she had never
experienced?
Lily had not experienced this peace of mind in years, not even back when she was staying with the
Lodge family.
“If you don‘t want to go, I‘ll get someone to send it over. If you want to go, but you still have your
concerns, I can accompany you,” Alexander said softly. Lily was surprised to hear this. Her head
snapped up to look at him.
In the face of her shock, he laughed and stroked her hair with one hand. His gaze was extraordinarily
gentle, and one look from him soothed her restless heart.
Then, Alexander calmly explained, “The Russel family and the Lodge family are friends. I‘d naturally
have to prepare a gift for Wilfred‘s birthday. However, I didn‘t expect that...
“Well, whatever the case is, if you don‘t feel like going, I‘ll get someone to send our gifts together. That
way, we‘d let people know about our relationship. However, I‘ll accompany you there if you want to go!”
As he tightened his grip around her hand, he said, “I‘ll always be with you, no matter what you‘re
going through.” There was nothing Lily could be afraid of after hearing these words. So, she leaned
over and pecked him on the cheek. “I‘m so lucky to have you.”
“That can‘t be it!” Alexander turned to her with a smile and pressed his lips to hers.
After being on guard the whole day, Nathaniel finally felt at ease.
Lily had not responded the whole day, and the public‘s opinion on the Internet was slowly improving.
Even the rate of product returns had reduced. He repackaged the old product and rebranded it along
the theme of “a timeless piece.” Nathaniel had already begun to promote it, and once the company
officially launched the product in the upcoming week, he could foresee it being well–received and
profitable.
It seemed like he had no choice but to rely on himself to turn the tide! He had barely had a good night‘s
