Chapter 608
After some thought, Alexander turned to look at Lily and said, “Get in the car first.”
Lily could tell they had something important to discuss. Considering Edward’s expression, it should be
something serious. She was not someone who would think in a way that Alexander and Edward could
only privately talk because they treated her as an outsider.
Her gut feeling told her that what they were about to discuss was related to her, but since Alexander
said nothing about it, he probably had his reasons for doing so. Hence, she did not. refute and just
nodded. “Okay.”
She walked to the car, opened the door, and got inside. Then she watched them through the window.
Edward was saying something, and Alexander was stunned by what he had heard. Then his
expression turned solemn, but the most crucial thing was that he had glanced in Lily’s direction.
Although Lily knew the car windows were tinted, and Alexander could not see her from the outside, she
still avoided his gaze subconsciously, as if she had gotten caught peeking at them. Slowly, she looked
up in their direction again. Alexander was still standing there, not moving or speaking. He appeared to
be deep in thought.
The breeze rolled up the hem of his shirt. No matter where Alexander was, he would always be the
best view to look at among all other things. It was just that Lily could feel the tension in the atmosphere,
which made her feel slightly suffocated.
After a moment, they had probably finished talking or even concluded something. Alexander strode
over to the car, with Edward following closely behind him.
Seeing that he was close, Lily moved to the side to give him space while he opened the door and got
into the car immediately.
The cold wind outside blew into the car, making Lily shiver slightly. It was pretty cold. There was a
throw in the car, and Alexander took it to cover Lily up before taking advantage of the situation to hold
her hand.
Her hands were warm, and Alexander wrapped his palms around Lily’s. His hands were much colder
than hers, but he could still feel Lily’s warmth on his palms.
Initially, he wanted to warm Lily’s hands for her, but his hands were much colder than hers. He wanted
to let go right away, but Lily held him back and asked him directly, “Do you have something to tell me?”
The two had been together for quite some time, so Lily knew Alexander well enough to understand his
feelings.
Alexander stared deeply into her eyes, hesitant to speak. Lily had never seen such a look on him
before this. He had always been straightforward in doing things. Seeing him like this only made her
even more anxious. After a moment of silence, he finally told her. “Your grandfather passed away.”
Lily could not believe what she had heard. “That’s impossible! He was still fine the last time I went to
visit him. Although he was not feeling, his immune system had always been strong. How could this…‘

Alexander had expected Lily to be emotional. Holding her hands in his, he comforted her, Calm down. I
just got the news too. We’ll go back right now, all right?”
Understanding what Lily wanted the most, he got Edward to drive them to the airport without hesitation.
Lily’s mind was a mess. She could not accept the fact that her grandfather was gone. Many fragments
of memories flashed in her mind; her grandfather had been stern to her ever since she was young, and
she disliked him very much at one point.
When she saw him again after many years, she realized all those feelings had disappeared without her
noticing it.
‘I’ve lost my parents, and now I lost my grandfather too?‘
Alexander said nothing and just hugged Lily tightly.
