Chapter 615
Immediately after the plane landed at Brown City’s airport, a car that Alexander had arranged was
waiting outside. The couple got into the car and went straight to the Lodge family’s residence.
Lily slept on the plane, so she could not sleep in the car–instead, she was preoccupied with her
thoughts while staring out of the car window in a daze.
Alexander answered a phone call when the car was on the road, and his expression became even
more solemn after hanging up.
“Has it something to do with the Lodge family?” They sat near each other, so it was hard not to notice
the phone call. Lily knew her husband would investigate whenever he felt suspicious about something.
“Besides Justin, there is another person in the Lodge family…”
Lily looked at Alexander silently.
“Henry Lodge.”
These words were like a spell that opened up some dusty memories. It had been a long time since Lily
heard this name, ‘Henry, huh?”
He was Lily’s and Justin’s uncle, the youngest son of the Lodge family.
Years ago, Wilfred liked Henry as he was his youngest son, but something happened later. Lily did not
remember what exactly happened. After all, she was young, but Lily did not know where Henry went
when he left the Lodge family. His name had become taboo, and no one talked about him again.
Lily would have forgotten about that man if Alexander had not mentioned this name.
“Uncle Henry? He’s back?” She frowned and muttered.
“Yes, he’s back.” Alexander nodded to assure her the news was accurate.
The sticking point was that not only was Henry back, but his return was not good news.
“Grandpa has passed away. So he should come back,” Lily said softly after thinking about it.
No matter what happened in the past, Wilfred was Henry’s father. After all, a son should be back home
to mourn his father’s death.
“If it’s just a simple funeral, there’s nothing to worry about, but…” Alexander looked deeply at his wife.
“If it meant facing these issues to return to the Lodge family, would you still choose to go back?”
“Even if the sky is falling, I’d still want to go back,” she said firmly.
Alexander already knew her answer, but he asked it nonetheless. Even if the sky fell, he would face it
with her. He smiled slightly and began to tell her what he had learned so that she could mentally
prepare herself for what was to come.
“Well, you must remain calm, no matter what I’m going to say next or what you heard.”
Since Justin had warned Lily it was best if she did not return, she already had a bad feeling
about this. She felt that this issue was related to herself.
Lily was unclear about what had happened within the Lodge family, but it must have happened
because of her. Otherwise, Justin would not have said that. So when Alexander calmed her down, she
did not react much. She just nodded. “Please continue.”
“The Lodge family doesn’t think your grandfather’s illness was what caused his death. They think
someone has poisoned your grandfather.” Alexander was careful with his words. What he learned was
much more vicious than what he led on.
Lily’s eyes glinted with shock. Although she had prepared to hear this, the news still stunned her.
“Do they think I was the one who poisoned grandpa?” She quickly guessed.
