"Life is a journey with no return trip. I used to be obsessed with my career, but I later realized many
other things in life are equally as important or even more important than my work. I've focused on
chasing my goals and moving forward, but I've forgotten to slow down and smell the flowers.
"Sometimes, slowing down and experiencing the beautiful things life offers might even bring me a step
further in my career."
When Lily began to slow down, she was anxious and would also feel restless. Later, her focus shifted
to her child when her belly enlarged, and she no longer felt as indifferent about it as before.
Moreover, she learned about the scent only a baby would have after learning about prenatal education
and meeting a few mothers. She learned about the smell of sweat on pregnant mothers who also
neglected themselves because they were too busy caring for their children.
It gave her the idea to create a perfume for pregnant mothers, so they could still smell great and feel
good about themselves.
Sure enough, all of this would need to wait till she went into labor. However, this new experience did
inspire her.
Heather could not understand what Lily meant entirely, but she was puzzled when she saw Lily's smile.
Lily's sincere smile made Heather realize it had been a long time since she last smiled this way, or
rather, it had been some time since she had taken a good look at herself in the mirror.
Whenever Heather looked at Hannah, she felt she was looking at herself. She grew tired of it. In a
daze, she raised her hand to her face and pulled the corners of her lips upward, but it was a forced
smile she had on her face.
"Ms. Riggs, you didn't invite me here just to listen to how I feel about my pregnancy, did you?" Lily
spoke, pulling Heather back to her senses after noticing she was in a trance.
It worked, and when Heather realized that was happening, she coughed before clearing her throat. "I
invited you over because I want to make a deal with you."
"A deal?" Lily was puzzled. "Besides knowing how to create fragrances and owning a small lab, I'm
afraid I don't have that much capital to strike a deal with you, Ms. Riggs.”
"You do,” Heather said, going straight to the point. ‘You and Alexander are well aware of what I want. I
can confirm my secret handbook is fake, isn’t it?"
‘The secret handbook?’
Lily did not expect her to be still brooding over this matter. Smiling, she admitted honestly. "You're
right."
Heather breathed a sigh of relief when she heard the answer she had expected. Recently, she had
been thinking about it over and over again. She had read the book repeatedly and thought over things
carefully.
Back then, Heather was anxious and wanted to master kickboxing in the shortest time possible. Now
that she was not in excellent health, she had the time to study the book slowly, which made her feel
that something was not right the more she studied.
All the kickboxing books she read in the past were very detailed about the moves and how one should
practice them, which was the opposite of this book which described every move vaguely.
However, this book provided great insights into a kickboxer's mindset and true understanding of the
moves. It explained these things in detail. There were even some phrases from the Bible as well.
When she recalled the words Alexander had said to her before, she was convinced that there was a
problem with the secret handbook she owned.
